How It Feels To Be Targeted By Kamikaze Attacks | Remember WWII with Rishi Sharma
Ойын-сауық
William P. Gosch describes his war experience in the Pacific Theater, from training at Guadalcanal to seeing harrowing frontline action at Guam and Okinawa. Mr Gosch’s service with the Marines saw him witness (and be the target of) kamikaze attacks as the Japanese sought to halt the US advance through the Pacific. He was wounded by shrapnel, lost friends and colleagues at close quarters, and experienced near-death on numerous occasions in his role assaulting the beaches at Guam and Okinawa. In this video you’ll hear harrowing testimony about the deaths of US service personnel, Japanese military, and civilians.

Thank you Rishi for interviewing these veterans
It's great that so many of these men's stories are now recorded for posterity
Mr. Gosch was over there, in the same places, at the same time as my Dad. He's been gone 59 years and never talked about it to anyone, especially not to this young kid. So, I appreciate these men telling their stories so maybe I can know a little about what my Dad went through. Thank you both.

@@dotell3359my uncle fought in Guam he too was an alcoholic. It is sad to think that they had no mental help available just self medicate themselves.
So glad you document these stories before these great men are gone.
If this man is still alive it would be nice to get him the purple heart he earned.
My dad was on Guam in 1945 - 46. U.S. Army. The Japanese were still shooting at our soldiers in1946.
"Where's pearl harbor," was such an authentic line, I had to chuckle. So many Americans probably had the exact same reaction.
My Dad and Uncle fought in Europe; Italy, D-Day+2 through The Battle of the Bulge. They survived and rarely talked about it with us; only fellow vets. They did teach us that war is unimaginably horrible and to do everything we could to stop it from happening. It is the ultimate drag on evolution.
Thanks for all our Veterans who served. Semper Fi.
Thank you for documenting these amazing men. 🙏
OORAH!! Thanks for the great content
Outstanding memory. SEMPER Fidelis to you, sir 👍
Thx for your Service
Thank you Sir
I couldnt imagine the horror that these vets went through, especially in the pacific. I mean dont get me wrong, the european theatre was bad but the pacific was just that extra level of brutality
Never has there been a better description than : THE GREATEST GENERATION . Thanks Champ 🇦🇺❤️👌
His story, in particular, was very eloquently and descriptively told. I feel small and weak compared to this generation of heroes and giants.
God bless this brave brave man And the interviewer was perfect - let the vet do all the talking. Wish all interviewers had the wisdom to do the same
