I've had amazon frogbit also get massive, not that big. In a rain barrel when it covered the total of the surface it would start growing out long stems with big leaves higher up to get more light. Then it would loose all of it's bottom leaves so the whole barrel just got filled with massive long stems with big leaves of amazon frogbit.

Non toxic? Can a aquatic turtle eat it?

Don’t know for sure but it would be a replenishing food source

Pretty sure it's banned in Ontario.

Yeah, I’m getting nervous to have this in my pond. It’s not illegal here, but I don’t want to be the reason it becomes illegal! (News flash: latest invasive species outbreak in the state linked to a man in Madison, Mississippi….who made a KZread video about it…)

@@plantlifeproject I would recommend moving away from it. I have struggled with floating plants that stay on the surface. I picked up some water lettuce for my daughters African clawed frog tank. I think there was too much waste in the water. Only a sponge filter. I've moved what survived to a shrimp tank that has hornwort to support them. They seem to be doing ok. Amazon frog bit or large duckweed is probably better.

banning doesn't really seem to make sense for me, at least for plants in invertebrates. management and education. as well as restriction makes more sense.
