    Would love to see a separate tank video, it would be a lot of work but it’s a cool experiment. Each pothos variety in a different tank with the same light… might have to try it out myself! Cebu blue, Phil Micans, Pearls n Jade would be cool options too

    Hi, I habe a Hygger for a 1m tank and I'm puzzled over one thing I can't understand from the manual. How do I change rhe color for moon light f.e. permanently? It is in the manual but I just can't make sense of it. Maybe it's because of a bad German translation or so. Can you help me out please?

    Not too bad. More heat builds up in the metal housing (and is warm to the touch )than in the tank but not an unreasonable amount.

  • @plantlifeproject
    @plantlifeproject8 күн бұрын

    Now that the tanks are well established, I don’t really do weekly maintenance, more like monthly. I only gravel vac when there is excessive building up of debris and only lightly vacuuming, not digging down into the substrate with it. So maybe a few times a year.

    I just got some from my LFS. I’ve killed a lot of salvinia, but the frog bit seems to be taking quite well! The roots died back and it turned quite yellow at first, but it didn’t take long (2 weeks) to start growing new runners and new roots. I like the look more than the salvinia in my own tanks.

    Hello -- I wonder whether basil would be suitable for a wet substrate. Have you (or has anyone among the viewership) tried it?

  • @plantlifeproject
    @plantlifeproject8 күн бұрын

    It can grow well in a wet substrate, it is grown hydroponically by many people. My experience has been that it still needs drainage, so growing it in a container where it is partially in water so roots can still get oxygen but also grow in the water.

    I hear it’s best to trim off all roots that were grown in soil when moving them into water. Have you tried that method? Is it better than letting established roots rot in the tank? Thank you

  • @plantlifeproject

    That’s frustrating, I know, but don’t give up! There are plants that have taken me multiple attempts before I was able to grow them. Even with “easy beginner plants”, Sometimes it takes experimenting with different light intensity, substrates, fertilizers, or even letting the tank age and get more established. Patience , persistence, continual learning and experimenting have been very important. I hope this helps you!
