I’m new to the hobby, planning my third tank, a 40g tall bow front for pea puffers. Wonderful information, thank you!
I’ve got a Cebu Blue try that one.
Would love to see a separate tank video, it would be a lot of work but it’s a cool experiment. Each pothos variety in a different tank with the same light… might have to try it out myself! Cebu blue, Phil Micans, Pearls n Jade would be cool options too
Hi, I habe a Hygger for a 1m tank and I'm puzzled over one thing I can't understand from the manual. How do I change rhe color for moon light f.e. permanently? It is in the manual but I just can't make sense of it. Maybe it's because of a bad German translation or so. Can you help me out please?
Great idea,looks beautiful...
What about a bird of paradise? Would that work?
Not sure. That is a very large plant for most tanks
this is so neat-looking and clever, thank you so much
Glad you like it!
If I trim back my Amazon sword, will it get fuller?
Trimming does not make this plant fuller but fertilizing can by promoting larger, fuller leaves
how hot do those shop lights get?
Not too bad. More heat builds up in the metal housing (and is warm to the touch )than in the tank but not an unreasonable amount.
great video
Thanks!
I have mine in a tank but it rots at the base of the plant😢😊
Well that sucks. Not sure why. I have never had that problem. You could try placing it partially submerged with the crown above the water line? Have you tried growing it in soil and not in the water?
Growing mine in 100% gravel. No aqua soil of any kind. No root tabs. Just liquid fertilizer.. growing strong, bright green.
Is your whole root system underwater?
Yes, the roots are growing completely in the aquarium water and even down to the substrate
@@plantlifeproject cool, I'm going to try this
Thank you! Idk how one little goldfish can wreak so much havoc, but mine refuses to let plants live. He’s voracious, and the bigger he gets, the faster he devours anything I grow 😂 So glad I found this channel!
You’re welcome! They each have their own personalities!
This is genius!
Or just get a miniature pot and suction to the tank
Yes, So many ways to make plant supports! Suction cups have never worked for me long term, however.
Hiiii.... do you gravel vaccum the substrate during weekly maintainence, pls reply thanks in advance
Now that the tanks are well established, I don’t really do weekly maintenance, more like monthly. I only gravel vac when there is excessive building up of debris and only lightly vacuuming, not digging down into the substrate with it. So maybe a few times a year.
FYI, as of 7-2-24, I am currently sold out of Umbrella Sedge and in the process of growing more! Follow me on eBay for updates and see other available plants. www.ebay.com/usr/plantlifeproject

thank you!
You are welcome!
This is super helpful and exactly the information I was looking for in a succinct clip. Thank you!!
I just got some from my LFS. I’ve killed a lot of salvinia, but the frog bit seems to be taking quite well! The roots died back and it turned quite yellow at first, but it didn’t take long (2 weeks) to start growing new runners and new roots. I like the look more than the salvinia in my own tanks.
The plants in my natural Aquarium are not developing, I use 3 6500k Led lamps, fertile substrate and yet they die. Can you tell me something for me to do that will make them develop?
What plants do you have?
@@plantlifeproject Echinodorus grisebachii, Elodea, Microsorum, Hydrocotyle, Lemna Minor, Salvinia auriculata and Cabomba. Even the Elodeas died I don't know why, water parameters are good, ph 6.8, temperature 26°C, 2 Led reflector 50w luminaire and a 30w Led lamp around 8 thousand lumens in total, water rich in nutrients, and even so even the algae do not proliferate properly.
I just cut small sections of pool noodles. They float.
Hello -- I wonder whether basil would be suitable for a wet substrate. Have you (or has anyone among the viewership) tried it?
It can grow well in a wet substrate, it is grown hydroponically by many people. My experience has been that it still needs drainage, so growing it in a container where it is partially in water so roots can still get oxygen but also grow in the water.
3 years late but I like the look of the bog filter . Do you have a video showing how you did this ?
This is the closest video showing how I made it. After the fact but it should give you the idea.
Wow, what a great tutorial!! So glad I found your channel. Thank you so much!!
Thanks, you are welcome!
Been loving your content bro! Would love to see some more b-roll of your tanks and fish as you elaborate on your points
Thanks for the feedback! I agree, I’ve been trying to use more b roll in my more recent videos
@plantlifeproject great bro! I'm loving it hey out of curiosity what's your favorite background plant for inside the aquarium
Great advice!
Glad it was helpful!
Very true,I try to be open minded in all areas in my life.I just subscribed to your awesome channel.Dave from Oklahoma.
Awesome! Thank you!
Bro that is so smart.I totally made a mess capping my soil with sand but my plants are growing so fast.Thank you for the great tip dude.
Glad to help
My turtles LOOOOVE frogbit & duckweed ! Whenever it blows up/over grows in my tanks, i just scoop it & toss it in the turtle pond.. Especially if u have older turtles that need more vegetation in their diet.
I’ve made every one of these mistakes and now I won’t again! Such an amazing channel. Thanks so much 😊for
Thanks👍✌️
No problem 👍
Isnt the leave toxic to the fish?
Check out the last few minutes of this video where I talk about that issue 🌿20 Houseplants that Help Filter Your Aquarium!🐟 kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z2RlprOhqc-cfJM.html
I looked at your website how big is the plant that you ship?
There are pictures on the eBay listing of the plant size that I ship. Most leaves cut back and the plant is bare root
Excellent ❤
Glad you like it!
Great video and I just subscribed.
Awesome thank you!
How can I secure my lights high enough to light up the houseplants? I've been trying to figure something out for a while now. I was thinking maybe putting little poles for lights to clip on to but I have no idea. Most of my tanks are on standalone stands if that helps any
In some of my tour videos, (can’t remember exactly which ones) I show how I have my lights setup. You can also put some hooks in the ceiling, and suspend the lights with a chain, string, etc. and adjust to the height you need
Hi there, do you have any experience growing scindapsus silvery ann in any tanks? It is a type of pothos. I see mixed views online about whether or not it is fish safe, so I’m torn.
I’ve tried cuttings before and they did root but never did very well for me
How did you hold the water inside of the larger green plastic plant pot? Didn’t that pot have drain holes in it?
No the pot came with no holes. But sometimes I will use a pot that has holes and I silicone the holes with a rock or even flat piece of plastic which works well
Missing your videos hope to see you post a new one soon
I like your diy hoods.
Very cool
For some reason, I am having the hardest time finding the video where you mention what kind of daylight bulbs you use for your riparium plants. Would you mind responding with the ones you suggest? I can't seem to find ones that rate above 5000k, but keep hearing that we should use ones that rate 6500k.
☀️🌿Riparium lighting -questions ANSWERED!🌿☀️ kzread.info/dash/bejne/fH96m5Wcprm2hJc.html I think this is the video you are looking for.
If you can’t find 6500k bulbs, 6000 or 5000k can still be used
Thank you!!@@plantlifeproject
I hear it’s best to trim off all roots that were grown in soil when moving them into water. Have you tried that method? Is it better than letting established roots rot in the tank? Thank you
Trimming roots doesn’t work well for me. Plants are slower to adapt and have had more die this way.
Its a good idea, but quick and easy? Idk lol.
Hi nice
I have had no success with this plant in 2 of my aquariums 😐
That’s frustrating, I know, but don’t give up! There are plants that have taken me multiple attempts before I was able to grow them. Even with “easy beginner plants”, Sometimes it takes experimenting with different light intensity, substrates, fertilizers, or even letting the tank age and get more established. Patience , persistence, continual learning and experimenting have been very important. I hope this helps you!
