Ariel Posen, former member of The Bros Landreth band is another awesome (slide) player, singer, songwriter. I don't know what's in the water up in Winnipeg but all of these guys are killin' it!

I came across them several years ago. I spread them around a little but I've mostly kept them to my self as most non musicians don't really appreciate the music. Yeah they kinda like it and it doesn't suck but that's about as good as they can say lol.

Ariel goes overlooked far too often
IM 72 years old and used to lament about not having any good new music to listen too. Since I quit watching regular tv and went mostly to scouring youtube, I've come across many new young talents that I normally would not have known about. I discoverd Bros Landreth a year or two ago and just love them. Got to be You is one of my all time favorites now. Being a mediocre guitar player myself, I absolutely love Joey's slide playing. He's one of the best out there and deserves all the credit in the world. Great video Rhett.

Hey Larry - 50ish yrs old guitarist here. Have you found Levi Clay's channel? I've discovered some wonderful guitarists through his channel. Now, some of them are shred-meisters - but Levi's favorite guitarist is Danny Gatton (if that does anything for you). Cheers!
Joey Landreth, Blake Mills and Julian Lage are the three guitarists/muscicians of the past decade who have rekindled my faith in contemporary music more than anyone else. They all make musical music to grow with over a lifetime.

Chris really rocks the frets. Bet his guitar is sore in the morning.
To me, the most impactful musician to come across in decades- stellar guitar chops, soulful voice, and great song structure. His solo album "Whiskey" impacted me in the same manner as Jackson Browne's early records. Something you don't get tired of listening to. I'm 71 and have seen all the greats. Drove to London, Ontario last year to see the band in a small old concert hall with about 200 people. The best show I've seen in years. Thanks for posting.
The song 'Greenhouse' on Let It Lie is a sublime piece of writing, musically and lyrically. He is a huge talent.

I've listened to that one hundreds of times and it still hits me hard. It takes true talent to leave a mark like that with a song.
His voice is butter, and playing is so musical and dynamic. The whole band is tremendous!
Thanks Rhett! For posting & your comments. I'm a long time fan of the Landreth boys... known 'em since they were tykes... their dad is a friend/bandmate. I agree with your opinion of them... Best Wishes from Winnipeg: home of the Guess Who; The Crash Test Dummies; & the Bros Landreth!
I had a lesson with Joey a few years ago. Came in completely unprepared, with my laptop failing over and over again, my guitar tuned in a weird way - nothing really working. And yet, he managed to take all the things I know, flip them around and rebuild them anew. An amazing experience and Joey couldn't be nicer with all the things. Hope to catch him in Poland one day!

I was very lucky to see a solo Joey gig when he was first over in the Uk. It was in a tiny bar in London and people were actually audibly gasping at his voice and guitar playing! Astonishing!
Amazing talent, jazz chops, compositions are flawless, and man what voice, and his timing is perfect, its like a perfect play where no one misses a word, and the diction has so much feeling in it. Wow thanks so much Rhett!!!
I met Joey in the Air Canada lounge in 2017 when he was headed to the UK for some shows. I honestly think I was the only person in the lounge that knew who he was and just what an amazing talent he has. Such a humble and gracious person . I suspect as time goes on his ability to go unrecognized will vanish. Simply one of the musicians Canada has ever produced... and a really wonderful person too. Hell of a combo !!! Cheers !
I, too, found the Bros Landreth through That Pedal Show. Mick 'n' Dan were/are over the moon for these guys and I was caught up as well. Joey is the REAL DEAL. So talented, down to earth, and so willing to share his inner pedal geek with the rest of us. 🙂
Saw them in Berlin last year. When they sing harmony it makes you wanna cry, so beautiful. Dave´s bass sound is stellar. What a great band and Joey just kills it on the guitar.
Great episode. So many valuable insights. It's great to see younger players who have such a strong sense of melody and dynamics, not to mention superb musicianship. The Lowell George influence is undeniable, but not overdone. Wonderful to hear music like this.
Joey and the Bros. are just insanely talented musicians and songwriters, and just overall GREAT people. So happy to see his song covered by Bonnie Raitt winning a Grammy. It’s a shame such music isn’t more popular these days but I’m just grateful for Joey sharing his musicianship.
Saw them last night in KC at cool little venue called Knuckleheads. Amazing show. Not just Joey's guitar playing, but the 3 part harmonies blew me away too. Unfortunately, they said it was their last show and that they were headed home for Winnipeg today (May 31).
Hey brother , thank you for shining and sharing light with this incredibly gifted artist... So true and amazing ... Well deserved! Keep the great work and awesome playing as well... 😎🤙
Thank you for sharing this guy and his band with all of us. I’m going to proceed to listen to his entire discography. He plays and sounds amazing!
The Bros. Landreth has become my favorite band over the past year or so. I describe Joey in the exact same terms you do, a triple threat. Amazing to be so equally talented in all aspects of music creation. I got to see them live on May 21 up near DC and they did not disappoint. I got the chance to speak with all three band members separately and they were all so humble and cool. Of course I wanted to ask Joey a million technical questions. People were asking all about his gear/playing and he was very cool about sharing information. Looking forward to seeing them again and await any new music from them with eager ears. It amazes me they aren't more popular!
I’m shocked and amazed. Gonna have to hear it LIVE! Thanks for sharing! Content like this makes me glad I subscribed Rhett! Joey Landreth got that soul!!
I appreciate this introduction. I just watched his slide class yesterday. Thanks for highlighting great musicians, I look forward to digging in.
I just saw them this past Sunday in Austin! I’ve been a fan since I first heard of the Bros. Landreth! Definitely one of the best shows I’ve ever seen! Love your work, Rhett!
The mastery of dynamics runs across the whole band live, not within each of them only, but between them all. Even my friend who never goes to live music, asked how they control their volumes like that as soon as we left the venue.
thank you so much for highlighting Joey and Dave. I've been a fan for several years and can't stop talking about them to people. Still criminally under recognized and way overdue for greater success. We need to make sure these guys can afford to keep doing what they do. Absolutely the leaders in the salvation of the art and beauty of modern music.
Excellent. Thanks for the heads up on this.
Thank you for putting a spotlight on these guys! Such incredible stuff that I haven’t heard before
LOVE this video! Rhett thank you for doing a deep dive on the Landreth Bros.
love your videos. thanks for this one in particular, been a fan of Bros.Landreth for a while and didn't know they were on tour, managed to catch them in NorCal last weekend playing under a tree at a winery, such great guys and amazing music. thanks again, your content is always inspiring.
I absolutely love when you turn me on to new music, definitely going to check them out! Thanks Rhett! 👌🏻🎶
Never ever would have heard of him without your video. You're right...very inspiring. He has one more fan now. Thanks Rhett
Thank you so much for making the vid! Would’ve never come across such a phenomenal musician on my own!
Have been a fan for years and finally had a chance to see them live in Austin, TX this past weekend. They are incredible musicians always serving the song and never showing off for the sake of it. Could not agree more with Rhett’s statement that they are a triple threat, a rare find these days. Glad you’re highlighting such an amazing, undernoticed band with your audience.
I’ve been patiently waiting for the Joey episode so thanks!
This is the sort of music old, smoky bars were made for. They remind me of some of the bands I used to see in the '80s, while hair metal was all the fad, and you'd have these guys who just slayed it in a three-piece with drums and bass playing the blues or mellow jazz. So great to see music like this still being made and appreciated.

Got to meet Joey and the band the other day after seeing them live and they’re incredible! Joey is not just a triple threat but also the nicest guy! Just absolutely the best 🔥
You nailed it man. They have the goods and it’s marvelous to hear. I’m hooked. It’s beautiful rooted music and kudos to you for helping them get over!
Oh man! Come on! Great call Brett! I found Joey and The Brother's Landreth on That Pedal Show a few years ago, and I've been a fan ever since. His vocal phrasing and soulfulness really conveys the emotion of the music. Obviously, the guitar playing is off the charts. In my opinion, his slide playing, and fellow Canadian Ariel Posen, are in the same league as the brilliant Derek Trucks. Check out Joey's Where Did I Go Wrong, off the Hindsight album.
Joey is probably the only guitarist who can get there hairs on the back of the neck to stand up with just a few notes. Genius
Thank you very much for sharing this artists who I didn’t know and for sharing your truly passion.
Thank you, always searching for inspiration, these guys certainly deliver
Beautifully prepared piece Rhett, and I couldn’t agree more! ❤
Joey is a legend. I've seen him three times and will take every opportunity to see him. His solo on Whiskey still causes me to gasp as he keeps on developing each time you think he has peaked.
I’ve been waiting for you to find/shine a light on the Bros. Loved the video!
Here in Canada we've known about these Winnipeg boys for some years. Dunno what there is about Winterpeg that produces great artists, but it does. Maybe 'cause it's too frickin' cold in winter to do anything but practice. And the winter is six months long. And then come the floods, and then the mosquitoes. And some great music.
Thank you for this FANTASTIC video on one of the world's most talented singer songwriters. I was already a superfan, but you just made me love him more.
I first discovered Joey from that Collings video of him doing the Ray Charles song. I was floored, been a huge fan of their work ever since. And you nailed it when you said that his talent as a songwriter is just as impressive as his playing. I've found more and more that my favorite players all all amazing songwriters who happen to be killer players as well.
Unbelievably beautiful - couldn't agree more. Makes me want to pick up the guitar and try and be better. His voice is so good it hurts. Saw his trio in London 2019 - the vocal harmonies were out of this world. That Pedal Show had Joey on a show and his playing and sound on that are superb. Mark Lettieri is in another TPS episode, and Joey shows up at the end as their 'intern' and jams out with Mark.
They are phenomenal and I am a HUGE fan. Thanks for showcasing them and spreading the word.
Once again you are shining a light on some very deserving musicians. That is a big part of why I subscribe to your channel. I will definitely need to check these guys out!!
Man thank you for this. Even as a guitarist and musician myself I feel like I’ve been searching for this songs all my life. Haven’t been so happy for discovering new music in a while.
YEAH! I’m a big fan. I saw The Bros. Landreth last year in Copenhagen when they were on tour in Europe. Amazing show - Love the band and Joey’s playing and the great songs 🎸👍.
It’s just unbelievable. Seems like such a cool guy too.

Thx for this and the link to the tour dates. One of my faves. Turns out they are playing nearby in 2 weeks. Got tickets :)
They’re so good and make it look so easy that it’s easy to take them for granted. They’re one of my fav bands… love them.
As a Canadian who has loved these boys for a while, good taste Rhett! Love seeing the crossover.
When I pulled up KZread, the first video was this one. I was really excited! They’re definitely my favorite band right now and I agree with everything you said in the video! Amazing!
Great and extremely important video to be made, Rhett. Congrats!!
Yes yes yes! I first saw these dark room session videos 2 years ago ans since that day i always have the same inspiring moments / feel about this music as your‘re describing it! Man - great video! Nice you picked hin/them up and made this! Now i have to pick up my guitar again 😊
Oh man. I was lucky enough to see Joey last year live near me in the midlands, UK. I was grateful to see him, and his brother Dave prior to the show, and they were incredible. My dad - who's a Genesis fanatic and overall that generation of prog guy, also really enjoyed the band. (I bought him, and my best friend a ticket) I discovered Joey from his multiple That Pedal Show episodes, and have loved every single one - especially as a tone nerd myself. He is a true visionary on the guitar, and one day, I'd love just to have a singular percentage of his musical chops and guitar playing skill. Great video Rhett!
Yes indeed, kind-humble-Canadians. Joey and the band members they’ve have over the years are incredible. They also sound amazing at an incredibly comfortable volume live. ❤🇨🇦❤️
My oh my, thank you for bringing this. What a blast to hear this man.
They sound amazing! I'd never heared of them before but I'm a fan already. Thanks for making videos like this!
I was stage manager at the Beaumont (Alberta) Blues & Roots Fest and I got to talk to the Landreth boys a bit. Super nice guys, and really down to earth.
Absolutely Rhett....I've seen Joey solo and the Bros twice. Utterly mesmerising....easily the best live performances I've ever witnessed. Joey and Dave are the real deal...up there with Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, John Hiatt, Lowell George and Neil Young. It's wonderful to see the recognition of Joey and The Bros Landreth. Also bloody lovely fellas when you meet them. Keep doing what you're doing guys, it restores my faith in music.
For everyone who's seen Joey on TPS and just listened to the albums (which are great), I second Rhett's point - seem them live if you can. It's another level, especially hearing Joey sing. I never miss them when they come into Philly.
This is a great video Rhett, I knew there were other people out there who are just in awe. I’ve Been a huge fan of Bros Landreth for years now. When Ryan Voth was in drums it was so hard to describe to people how you could also see the feel, you cannot teach that. thanks Rhett.
the slide at the beginning! so good. wish i was good at slide. we saw mama jan at eddies attic last sunday. great venue.
Thanks for introducing me to these guys. Going to check them out now.
They are absolute legends, been listening to the gang for years - Bros. Landreth, Joey Landreth & Ariel Posen (which used to be on the original Bros. Landreth line up). Seen all acts a good few times and met Ariel personally. Incredible musicians, song-writters & human beings! Thanks Rhett for this video, keep the great content coming at us.

I really enjoyed their playing, became a listener. Thanks Rhett!
First time hearing them and I am encouraged by what you said, that there is still great music being made. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work!
Thanks for this, I will keep an eye out for England dates. Beautiful
Thank you Rhett ! You always introduce me to great music I've never heard before !
I got to see them last winter here in Canada . Phenomenal musicians . The room was fixated on them . Also was really cool to be in the same room as a two rock amp!
This is the first time a hear about these guys Reth, they are really amazing! I’ll certainly check them out; thanks man!
Been listening to Joey for years and is one of my favorite guitarists! Grateful to see the love being shown to an underrated and talented artist.
Never heard of them before, they are fantastic! I will be checking out all their recordings next!!
Wow, thanks Rhet! I love when I discover a talent like this. In all honesty as much as I love it, it can be really discouraging to see someone “new” that’s just so good in so many areas. But I absolutely am glad to have learned these guys are out there!
Joey is the most important thing to happen to the electric guitar creatively in a half century. Plus, Joey and Dave write the most beautiful music imaginable.
First time hearing about these guys and I’m immediately a fan. Paused the video to go download all they’re albums. Always love your music recommendations Rhett. Thank you
Just saw The Bros last week in Charlotte, NC…. Amazing. I’ve been following them for about three years now! Everything I have heard from them or about them lines up with your commentary.
I actually found them based on a comment about Joey from a video back in 2020. Now among my favourite artists/bands. Saw them live in Ottawa last year. Phenomenal. Thanks for getting the word out on them.
wow...just wow. It appears I am a new fan. Thank you, Rhett, for sharing this talent. Don't sell yourself short - you too are very talented! Thanks again.
Just saw him in Austin and they are amazing live! And both he and Dave were super kind.
I love these guys. Fellow Canadians. Caught them in my city last year and it was unbelievable. Agree with everything you said in this video. More people need to see these guys.
Been a big fan for a long time - before most knew him....and finally had a chance to see him live in Austin, TX a few nights ago. An absolute masterclass in tone and dynamics...and he doesn't play loud!! My wife got me a 1 hour video lesson with him for my bday a few years ago...just an awesome dude. Great video man!
I couldn't have been happier when I looked for tour dates and saw they are playing at The Crossroads Festival this year which I already have tickets for! Thanks for putting them on Rhett! I didn't think I could get any more excited for the festival, but now I am!
Thanks man. These guys are GOLD.❤
Met Joey twice in Germany. The Bros Landreth played in a small club near my hometown and I had the chance to shake hands, talk to him and get my guitar signed by Joey. You're absolutely right, humble, kind, fantastic musician(s). Love their music since the first song I heard them and hope they will come to my place again, heading forward for a third meeting, even if again takes me hours of waiting in the cold... :)
I’ve known Joey and the bros landreth since 2016, and can definitely say that guitar playing, singing and songwriting was completely changed in my understanding of it after I started listening to them. I get really happy knowing that other people that I admire as content creators and guitar players also have them as legends of our own time. Great video Rhett!
It's all new to me...thank you, thank you, THAAAANNK YOU! So damn good. There's a part of me that just simply weeps at the beauty of really good music. I need a box a tissues brother. ❤❤❤
Rhett, I truly appreciate how much you nerd out to Joey Landreth and that band. I saw them last week live, and they blew me away. I've been a fan for years, but it was such a special thing to see them live. Joey is truly a generational talent and is one of the best guitarists walking the earth right now. Everyone knows he will serve you up on guitar, but his vocals...man, they are velvet. Incredible singer and vocalist.
damn, this guy is on fire!!! Im going to look up for more. Thank you, Rhett:)
Never heard of him b4... New fan. Thx for the introduction @Rhett Shull
