    I love this item on spell casting strength heroes like Dawnbreaker. Really helps with the early - mid game. The mana regen is especially nice.

    For sure! While the mana regen isn't the main reason you'd get it, it's a nice bonus when you need the protection it offers.

    Hey great guide for a legend player like me who never buys this item. One piece of advice in return however, I think using the pop up words to show exactly what you're saying makes it a bit cluttered like on screen subtitles; I'd recommend just put the main points/word on the screen with the graphics so we can remember the important info instead of having the text go off screen after a second. I do love these types of videos that dive into specific Dota mechanics, so please keep it up! :D

    Thanks for the feedback. We've had complaints in the past of people not being able to understand what Phil's saying due to both some audio issues we'd had in the past as well as his New Zealand accent, so while Phil has actively worked on speaking more clearly: we'd also thought to put everything he was saying on screen as well to make things more clear. We can totally understand where you're coming from and we totally agree that it does make things cluttered at times. We were waiting for this sort of feedback before we started to rein it in, so it's very much appreciated. Hope you were able to enjoy the video in spite of this and continue to stick around ❤️

    literally buy stick and raindrop in every match if i have empty slot, heck ill even carry more branches and or that new item that blows up and gives 50 extra hp, if i have extra bag place i never have empty bag slots, it's a huge waste of resource if not used.

    I have personally found as a support, buying it even if your oppennt is also a zeus(support), it overall helps u not get bursted and lets u trade and get off a kill, its kind of like a fairie fire but for mid laning phase, it gives u mana regen which is more helpful for a support i think. Im only legend rank, so idk much tho. (Ofcourse get a stick first if u are laning against zeus in any way lol)

    It's an interesting take and definitely depends on the individual skill of the player who is playing Zeus in that scenario. If they're a good Zeus player who realises you have Raindrops they'll punish you for it; but if they're a poor player who doesn't realise you have them then you'll find value. It's definitely a case by case decision, but not something we'd generally advise. Glad to hear you find value with it though!

    @@beneaththeveilYeahh i think in ranks like legend, people miss the fact that you have raindrops and overtestimate the damage they will do, and commit to an unfair fight.

    i strongly disagree on not picking up raindrops vs magic heroes who can pop it quickly like zeus. you're still blocking all of the damage and you are forcing the enemy to use their mana to try to make you weaker. i mean what is the alternative, you eat the 600 dmg and go base?

    Great question! As we broke down in a quick graphic during the course of the video: both tangoes and salves are more efficient in terms of HP per gold in comparison to Raindrops. If you're wanting to stay out in lane against a hero like Zeus: you're better off ferrying out more healing items and keeping your HP high. Zeus is a hero that keeps you at range and nukes you down. With Raindrops the general idea is you want to tank the biggest bursts of damage to then kill them, which a good Zeus player won't allow you to get close and do in the first place. As Phil said: he has had games where he's a hero like Puck, so he's able to use Phase Shift to dodge some of Zeus's spells which means he has to invest even more mana to chip through the Raindrops. But ultimately: if you aren't playing a hero whose able to kill Zeus off the back of all of those spells being spammed, there's no point to investing that heavily into tanking some of them when you could just invest more efficiently in healing through all of them. Hope that makes sense 😊

    Technical feedback about video. While I vastly prefer natural long spoken sentences over multiple cuts, yours sound quite ok. I wouldn't necessarily notice them. However having constant micro cuts on animations while showing hero screens is quite jarring. I suggest you record audio and video separately for smoother overall viewing experience. It makes a huge difference. Though the longer you can keep your takes the more natural you will sound too. I'd try to avoid (multiple) cuts inside one sentence at the very least.

    Appreciate the feedback! We'd actually noticed this ourselves and have moved to a workflow where we record the audio separately and then add video over the top to make everything run more smoothly and seamlessly :)

    Bushwhack will NOT trigger raindrops on ANY level, so false info here. Actually surprised to see hoodwink in 'always good' list, and not see a bounty hunter for example.

  • @beneaththeveil

    @beneaththeveil

    In fairness, I'm usually the one playing the Hoodwink rather than playing into it so I've never really gotten to experience the effectiveness of Raindrops. My fault there for not doing rigorous testing and just analysing tooltips. This is actually even better than I thought because you're guaranteed protection for the Sharpshooter nuke since Bushwhack won't proc them unlike vs a Zeus who can spam them off you in laning and then use Thundergod's Wrath. Good catch regardless, that's on me for the error there.

    Linken sphere logic does not really apply to raindrops. In doesn't matter how exactly it will be triggered as long as you get full 120hp absorb. In isolated 1v1 scenario yeah it's ok, but in real game raindrops is not a counter to hoodwink in any way. Hoodwink would get their lvl6 at around 10+ minute mark, by that time the laning phase is almost over and you should already be running out of charges. Yes of course having a random charge at 10+ minute can save you from the sharpshooter, but that should not be the main reason you bought those raindrops 7 minutes ago.

  • @beneaththeveil

    @beneaththeveil

    The bigger the resource: the more valuable the Raindrops proccing on that resource is. Hoodwink is my second most played hero, only behind Tusk which is why I say I'm usually the one playing her rather than playing against her. She's heavily enabled or disabled by her laning partner. When stuck with an offlaner who is naturally passive such as Night Stalker, she usually ends up losing the lane (in a balanced game) and relies on her level 6 powerspike and subsequent roaming to get her back into the game, similar to the way a Nyx Assassin lanes poorly and then becomes a menace once lanes break down. Robbing her of just over 20% of the max potential damage associated with her first Sharpshooter is massive value, regardless of how long ago the Raindrops were purchased. Especially as a good Hoodwink player will open with Sharpshooter in order to help the offlaner convert a kill and snowball momentum. In answer to your initial point about Bounty Hunter: at the time we made this video, playing around Shuriken had gone out of vogue and there was much more focus around Jinada and Shadow Walk. The meta has shifted back towards Shuriken again now so there's definitely value in raindrops at level 4/5 when most Bounty players should have 2 points in Shuriken.
