    I've failed, I have fallen short and sinned again with lust. I confess this to my brothers and sisters. Pray for me that i can be free from this habit. I denounce the flesh, i denounce lust, porn, addiction. I chose light above the darkness. In Jesus might name, i pray. Amen

    You can denounce and confess and choose until doomsday, but you have no power to overcome sin if you aren’t saved; being baptized into the Body of Christ and received the indwelling Holy Spirit. Were you “saved” by: “accepting Jesus into your heart?” Or “Making Jesus, Lord of your life?” Or “Faith and water baptism?” Or “Praying the Salvation prayer?” These useless phrases don’t bring about Salvation if you don’t know what it is.There’s a devastating number of church people who don’t know how to be saved because they were never told “The Gospel” and believed it. Are you interested in knowing about these things?

    Points I can share: 1. Confess your sin to God and believe He forgives you because He is faithful. The key here is to make sure that you have a strong realtionship with God so that when the enemy accuse you and brings your past you are sure deep in your heart that you are confident that God forgot it. (though it's a tough battle sometime) 2. You confess to those you have offended in private and ask each other's forgiveness 3. If you needed prayer to get over with sin confess it to someone who you can trust and can pray for you

    This is why we read in James: "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much" (James 5:16). That is why we allow opportunities for people to come before the congregation. It is so others can pray on the behalf of the sinner that God will forgive them.

    I am a member of a Protestant church and have been for over 60 years, yet seldom hear pastors address confession and forgiveness on a regular basis. Maybe Catholics and Orthodox and a small percentage of Anglicans who encourage the parishioners to come to confession have a lot to teach us about humility.

    I only need to confess my sins to God. If the day comes that I feel the need to share a confession with someone, it will have to be someone that I am very comfortable with that I can trust. Doesn’t necessarily mean that it will be a spouse. If that day never comes, I’m assured that I’m forgiven by God anyway.

    Confession is good, but repentance is king. You show your desire for righteousness by leaning your lessons and not repeating them. Turning away shows you have genuine remorse. Confessing each weak on some timetable is religion, and God only accepts true religion, which is to look after the orphan and widow and to keep your self unpolluted by the world. This process is an intimate one between God and the confessor.

It took us a little bit to get comfortable with each other to the point where we could talk about struggles with lust or po*n (idk if youtube would take that word down lol). But being scared it would ruin my relationship with my friends or worrying if they would look at me differently Is something I've been through too. When we finally got around to talking about our struggles it was so helpful, we were able to finally just talk and share what we deal with and we could even grow closer to each other by sharing ways to overcome lust. Hey, I’d like to share something to the one deciding on telling parents. I’m a woman so this is coming from a woman perspective. I’ve struggled with lust very harshly and averted to it. For 5 years, I kept up a double life and my family never knew the extent of my sins. Lately I have been undergoing a nagging but necessary conviction to reveal and confess to my parents about what lies I’ve lived, my shame I don’t know how to deal with, and struggles with lust and p*rn. I was so so fearful that I’d be seen differently but also seen as impure and a harlot because there is a certain stigma for women regarding their maintaining of sexual purity. It was intimidating for those reasons but also because I am not their only child and daughter for they just lost their second kid, my younger sibling. “I have to be the strong one, I can’t break or show frailty now” I thought. When I sad them down and confessed it all (obviously not details) the relationship, openness, relatability, and accountability between my parents and I grew far deeper than I could ever have imagined and I WISH not being honest with them on my struggles because I have prohibited this deeper comfort and love from my parents I’ve never received before. This is an example of confessing our sins to the Father. We don’t confess because we are afraid of condemnation but oh how foolish and prideful, even selfish, we are to not allow God to take the burden of our sins. Once we surrender that guilt, shame, hurt, and struggle to Him, how deep is the Fathers love for us, how vast beyond all measure, how much closer we will be to Him! The confessing under the conviction to ask for forgiveness from my parents has painted a physical canvas of what WILL HAPPEN when we ask for forgiveness of the Father when we sin. Praying for you.

    For those who know how to pray, help cast out the spirits that cause this. Usually it's a spirit. Read Eph 6. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood.

    No spirit except your own ever caused you or anyone else to sin. Evil spirits may torment someone because of sin in the culture or sin done and accepted by the person but it cannot enter or control a Christian. The Spirit of God dwells in us and where He is no evil spirit will ever enter. Anything short of fully accepting responsibility for one's sins will be like Eve blaming Satan in the Garden. It's just another "fig leaf" to hide behind.

    @carlchristensen4299

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi @@angelamilne2054. Those are very loaded questions. You are either assuming I am implying a great deal or assuming many thoughts yourself. So I will answer as simply as I think is Biblically clear. "are you suggesting a person becomes unburdened from the guilt of the sin that weighs them down once they take responsibility?" No. The Bible is quite clear with examples and doctrine where a person may take responsibility for their sin but not be free of guilt, condemnation or bondage. King Saul is a graphic example in 1 Samuel 15:24-30. He owned his sin but was not willing to truly repent--to turn from it. He only wanted Samuel's word of pardon so that he could appear honored before the people which was the cause of his sin that same day. Freedom from guilt is a gift of grace received by faith in the sacrifice of Jesus, cleasning conscience (Hebrews 11:14), relieving condemnation, granting peace, friendship and adoption (Rom 5:1-11; Ephesians 2). "Are you saying that taking responsibility alone shall make them free of torment from other spirits?" Certainly not. The Evil forces of this world--evil spirits, fallen angels, etc-- are still at work in this world and have dominion. They will bring trouble, temptation, and pain until the end of this age. However, there is a great difference between the influence, effect, of their war on all mankind--especially the people of God-- and the idea presented by Sander de Jong. He suggests casting out spirits that "cause [sin or guilt]". First, the bible never ever says any Evil spirit "caused" someone to sin, especially anyone who is a Christian. Those who are unbelievers, may be enabled, empowered, or pushed to sin by them. Judas Iscariot a great example; Satan himself entered him to push him to finish the job of betrayal but Judas had already conceived of and decided to do one of the greatest of sins of all history. Second, No believer can be possessed by a evil spirit in which needs to be "cast out". In order to "cast out" something has to have "entered in". An Evil spirit cannot dwell with God's Spirit in a believe--light will not have fellowship with Darkness (2 Cor 6:14b-15a). That said a believer may bring the "idols" of those false god's of immorality, greed, violence, conceit, pride into the heart but not an evil spirit. So one should not seek to cast out a "demon" to stop sinning but destroy the idols one's own heart, turning to love and delight in the only true God.

    I wanna confess something, when my dad married my step mom it's been bad. They fight on the daily and one time she hit my dad with a chair. He went to jail that day as he slapped her when she smacked him with a chair. I've hated her since then and I cannot find a way to forgive her. Now they have my little brother who is a month old. I'm very worried for my sister, step sisters, and now half brother for what they'll grow up with. I hate them. I hate my step mom for what she's done to my dad but I have to mask my feelings toward her as me being mad at her won't solve anything in fact it'll make things worst. I hate my dad for leaving the house when they argue or drink. I love them both but I have so much hatred toward them at the same time. I don't know what I'm doing anymore I just wanted to say this where I know none of my friends and family will see this. I don't really believe in God but I do hope that he can help me find forgiveness in them or have them stop having so much hate in each other. Amen

    God is merciful and just to forgive us our sins (1 John 1:9). Heb 8:12 says that once He forgives us, He forgets about it. Take God at His Word. If you are truly convicted, confess your sins to Him and repent from them, He will forgive you. Trust God that He keeps His word. Psalm 34 says the faces of the righteous shall not be covered in shame. You are not meant to be filled with guilt and shame, but trust that God in giving you His spirit, has given you a new heart that will give you a desire to follow His ways. You are being transformed and your mind is being renewed. Dont believe the Words of Satan the accuser, who stands before God accusing and condemning you. Instead, believe Jesus who is your advocate and high priest, he was the sacrifice that was paid once for all, for your sins. Christ has already paid for that sin, as you have confessed it and asked for forgiveness. Believe Him and forgive yourself. If I was in your shoes I would not discuss it with anyone else, particularly as it seems that they would probably indict you. Keep it between you and God (Rom 14:22, it's okay to do so sometimes). Rest in the knowledge that God keeps His Word.

    You are not fulfilled by the law, you do not attain to righteousness through the law, but in Christ you are still under the law. If there is no sin then the sacrifice of Jesus was in vain, what is he evening redeeming by it? This gospel of the 10 commandments being done away with rests on some serious scriptural misunderstandings and it is a tragedy that it is so widely preached today.

    @@albertwarsaw2096 Commandments, plural. That's very different than "the law", singular. This is the only instance of using the plural. Was this a mistake, or was Jesus highlighting a change in what was expected? Is Jesus simply saying to do what Israel has been doing since the time of Moses? Or is he saying something different? If it's the same, then why is there a "New Covenant"? What's the difference between the two covenants if Jesus is telling us to just keep doing the what the Old Covenant required? Also, if the apostles were instructed to go and teach believers everything that He taught them, then why didn't they teach their readers in the epistles about the need to keep the sabbath, tithe, offer sacrifices at the temple, keep the dietary laws, etc. In fact, it would seem they were either completely silent about such things (tithe), or they taught against it completely (dietary laws and temple worship). Even Jesus put a twist on the sabbath by declaring that the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. Of course the ten commandments are done away with, but they don't apply to the believer since their purpose was only to reveal the sinfulness and spiritual deadness of the unbeliever, aka those "in Adam", which is everyone who is not "in Christ". So, if we're no longer "in Adam", then the law has done it's part. What value does it serve if it's already brought us to repentance? Do we now start to try to keep the law in order to do what could only be done through Jesus? Was it not sufficiently evident throughout the Old Testament that sinful humans could not keep the law and needed God to do for them what animal sacrifice could not do, which was take away sin, once and for all? The real tragedy is believers not entering their spiritual rest, as Christ himself has done by sitting down at the right hand of God having declared "It is finished". We are invited into the same sabbath rest that Jesus himself enjoys. Knowing this is precisely the source of motivation for being able to now live by and walk by the spirit (aka - keep his commandments), but we don't do so in order to stay right with God or to prove our righteousness. Of course, there's no reason for you to accept what I'm saying. You've planted your flag in law keeping. You seem to think that people who depend on God's grace for everything are condoning "lawless living", which is not at all what is being taught. In fact, I would argue that total dependency on God's grace comes to those who see that there is absolutely no way they can keep the requirements of the law because it's just so great and so perfect. It's those who see their total ineptness in light of such perfection that they turn from their pathetic attempts to keep it (repent) and see even more clearly in amazement what Jesus actually accomplished on the cross, recognize that they were crucified with Him, and now live through His life in them. They depend on His life to live their lives more and more each day, which of course is going to include moments of sinful behaviour, but such is the plight of perfectly righteous saints who live in a fallen, sin infested universe, who minds are still undergoing transformation. I guess another way of saying it is, "When I am weak (dependent of the perfect and total work of Christ - grace), then I am strong".

    James isn’t commanding us in 5:16 to “do” anything. He isn’t talking to believers today, but to the Jews under the Kingdom program of prophecy taught by Jesus and the Twelve. It has little if any application to believers today who are in the Body of Christ. Our instructions come from “the mystery” given to our Apostle Paul in Romans through Philemon. Paul is silent in all his writings on the believer’s confession of sins for forgiveness, parental, or otherwise.

    As a Catholic it always amazes me to watch or listen as Protestants try to squirm their way around certain Biblical verses that do not conform to their heretical man-made teachings. Protestants teach that the "Blood of Jesus washes away all of their sins". And yet they also hear their preachers teach that your sins are not forgiven until you believe. And at "that hour that they first believed, then they receive God's saving Grace". And then they hear their preachers say but hold on a minute...............yes the Blood of Jesus washed away our sins, but that is not enough, His work is insufficient, you "must confess with your mouth and believe that Jesus is Lord, that then and only then you will be saved". But then the Bible goes and throws a wrench into the whole Protestant belief system by saying in James ch 5 that if you call the Priest and he anoints you with oil, then your sins will be forgiven. Whoah now! Didn't that preacher just say that "the Blood of Jesus washes away my sins"? I am so confused. Then James says " Therefore confess your sins one to another"...............why should I do that? The Blood of Jesus has already cleansed me of my sins, so doesn't James know this? Doesn't my Protestant preacher know this? Why are they confusing me with all of this stuff about sins anyway. I mean, aren't we "saved by faith alone"? Do I need to confess my sins or not? I thought that this Protestant preacher in this video was going to definitively answer that question - " How important is confession anyway"? This is why I am so glad I am Catholic. There is no confusion at all. The Bible says that Jesus gave His authority to forgive men their sins or to not forgive them. The power to bind and to loose. Jesus said in John chapter 20 that " As God has sent Me(to forgive sins) now I am sending you (to forgive sins). In 1 John 9 the Bible teaches that if we do confess our sins that God will forgive us. The only way for any of this sin forgiveness stuff in the Bible to make any sense at all is to understand it as a Catholic does. I mean it was the Catholics that wrote every word of the New Testament, which is why we can understand it without changing any words, or omitting any words, or having to explain away the simple meaning of such verses. There is nowhere in the Biblical New Testament Church where the Bible teaches that you can go directly to God to have your sins forgiven. Not hat you Protestants have to confess your sins anyway because you are already saved somehow, so forgiveness of your sins really is not even necessary. None of that is in the Bible, but that is what your preachers tell you to believe. The gate is narrow. The choice is yours. Choose wisely.
