HOW I WAX AT HOME | How to Use Hard Wax | Step-by-Step Tutorial | Katie Marie

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

It's been a while since y'all have asked me to share how I wax at home and I am SO sorry it's taken me this long! I had hoped to get it up in the spring...but, well, that didn't happen! But I hope you still find it useful! I've been waxing various parts of my body at home for nearly 5 years now and have grown pretty comfortable using hard wax. I hope my video is informative and can help you out if you've been wanting to try waxing at home.
As I stated in my video, I am NOT a professional! If you are, and have any tips/tricks/advice to share, please leave them in the comments for us all to read! I love learning and improving my waxing abilities! 🤗

    Don't underestimate your cosmetology education. You can do hair, skin, and nails, girl. You also took the time to research and educate yourself beyond school to do this... and that all counts. I went to school with many esthetician students who graduated and couldn't wax to save their life. It's all in what you put into it. You made a great video for people at home. Thanks. ❤

    I also wanted to add: I should’ve mentioned it in the video, but make sure you’re using an exfoliator in between waxing. I have a body scrub I use every time I take a shower on all the areas I wax (and shave). Don’t exfoliate the day of and the day after waxing (skin is sensitive!), but otherwise, it’s great to do on a consistent basis! 🤗 If there are any other follow up videos you'd like me to make pertaining to hard wax, please let me know!

    I highly recommend waxing to anybody who is going to get a tattoo. Make sure it's done a few days before your appointment and it helps out a lot. They'll have to shave the area anyway, but waxing will mean you won't have itchy stubble growing in right after you get your tattoo. Especially on your legs, it also gives you enough time for your piece to heal before you would need to shave again.

    The bikini area is not an area that I recommend people with little to no waxing experience to try. BRACE YOURSELF: 1st, trim the AREA, 2ND, CLEAN/DRY WELL. 3RD, if the numbing product can be used there, USE IT! Due to the shape of the area the pull will go much easier if your legs bent @tbe knee,pull upper thigh area away & upper bikini zone in opposite direction,hold as tigh as u can & then RIP! This is why its really not the AREA to do yourself. Hope that helps.

    Nice video! I just purchased all the items you used. Question the tin that the wax beads come in.. you place that container inside the warmer? What if you don’t want to use that much wax?? Wouldn’t it be a waste of wax??? Maybe I’m misunderstanding something

  • @KatieMarie

    @KatieMarie

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes, the tin goes inside the wax warmer. When I’m done, I just turn off the wax warmer and let it cool - the wax will harden again and once it is I take the tin out, put the lid on it, and put it away for next time - the wax is still good and will melt down no problem next time you need to wax. Just give it a little longer to melt, since it has to melt from one solid lump instead of tiny beads. Hope that makes sense! 💚💚

But the wax warmer didn`t come with a can to put in , neither the blue wax beads, and I don`t know if it is safe to put waxes directly in the warmer. I couldn`t clearly see in the video but I assume you also use a wax can to put waxes in it and then place in the warmer. Can I ask where did you buy yours from?

    I'm an Este. Spread the wax on the side of stick not on the flat side. Round all sides of the ends of the wax to be a little thicker so you can quickly catch wax and will reduce wax residue. If you do another tutorial please mention not to rewax the same area twice. It will cause bruising. Other than that good job for not being an Este. Yes Gigi is the worst wax.

    Instead of having to buy a cleanser and all of those things can I just use: *alcohol swabs (for cleaning), baby powder, coconut oil, a body lotion.* or do I have to buy them? And if I missed anything I need for like prewaxing or after waxing please tell me!💕

    I would imagine you could use toner for cleaning the area, definitely baby powder as a barrier for the wax -- I do that sometimes if my skin gets too moist/sweaty while waxing.And some type of gentle and moisturizing lotion to put on afterwards.

    The wax cleanser cleans the area, the baby powder more so just puts a barrier between your skin and the wax. At least, that’s how I understand it 🤗 and yes, I use a really gentle moisturizer to put on afterwards

  • @KatieMarie

    @KatieMarie

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hmm, what’s the wax you’re using? And what’s the wax warmer? It could definitely be making it too hot and liquidy, but once it starts to cool down and you allow an even layer, it should all come off smoothly. Make sure you’re not laying down too thin of a later or waiting too long to pull it off - both are techniques you figure out the more you do it to find that perfect thickness and timing to allow it to come off the best

    It should become thinner

  • @KatieMarie

    @KatieMarie

    Жыл бұрын

    It wouldn’t make it return thicker, it would become thinner if anything since the more you wax an area you can “damage” the hair follicle and it can stop growing completely. So waxing wouldn’t make MORE follicles to cause the hair to me thicker, if anything thinner over time. I’ve noticing significantly less hair in certain on the areas I wax routinely. And not in like patches or anything, just overall it’s not so dense with hair follicles like it used to be before I was waxing

    I'm sure when my mum used a hot wax kit back in the 80s, she would put the wax strips back in to melt and reuse it... Is this not a good idea then?

    I would imagine that’s unsanitary, because the reused wax would be full of hair 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I got 10x as much arm hair as you. I’m Latina and have a lot of hair on my head so the hairiness goes for my arms and legs too. 😅 I didn’t know they had numbing oil. If I ever start waxing myself I’ll be sure to buy everything you recommend.

    Girl, I feel you! One nice perk of waxing is that over time, it helps thin out the regrown. Basically some follicles/pores get damaged from the hair removal and don’t grow any hair anymore. So before I started waxing my arms they were TONS more thick/dense than they are these days. And considering all the places you can wax, the arms are the most low-key/painless IMO 🤗

    Lol, well if you ever want to try, start with your arms - hands down the least painful, IMO 👍🏼

    I want to wax my arms but I’m afraid that it’s going to grow back weird looking. 😬

    I refused to wax or shave my arms for this exact reason. Normalize body hair! Legs, face, bikini, pits are one thing. I don’t see a reason to wax arms or any other part of the body unless your hair is really dark and thick/course.
