Love this. I haven’t been able to get markers down either and I love watercolors. I do have some Kingart gel sticks but haven’t used them yet. This makes it seem so much easier. Thank you!

this is a great technique and I will totally try that out for sure! 👍 I once watched an amazing horror/dark art artist do his magic and he also used pencils as a base for his alcohol marker and explained that the pencils give the paper a wax/oil topcoat which inhibits the bleedthrough to a degree. like a raincoat keeps us from getting wet. also interesting to me is, that I coincidently work on my very first page in gnomes in the neighborhood and I use my brutfuner aquarell. it works just fine because just like you I use water very sparingly.

I love the Mythographic books too! Especially the ones by Joseph Catimbang! I have every Mythographic book that has been released and I also have the next 3 or 4 new ones coming up that haven't been released yet already pre-ordered! I checked Amazon and it says that tomorrow I get Joseph's new one called Wild Summer! He posted a flip through of the whole book on his KZread channel a couple days ago and I cannot wait to get my hands on it! But I totally understand about having all those books and so many have never been colored in! I'd say that most of my Mythographic books haven't been colored in YET! I'm a home school mom so my free time is mostly in the summer and I plan to dig in to this stack of books that I have that haven't been colored in yet! Thanks for sharing!

Oh, I love them. Practice on a separate piece of paper that's similar in thickness to a Kerby book until you get a feel for them. Seriously, they save me so much time. Good luck, stay safe!

The Brutfuner Square are back on amazon, I just bought a set in a nice black tin, the pencils are super soft. Love the way you use the Kingart sticks, can't wait to mine to arrive, it's pretty expensive to get it shipped to Europe. Thank you for sharing !

I hate swatching! I wish I knew someone who I could pay to do my swatches for me! LOL! I got Prismas first and I swatched them, but then I got Polychromos, alcohol markers, paint pens, gel pens, watercolor paint, etc and I haven't swatched anything except for the Prismas! I even cut strips of paper and made it look nice and neat, but after swatching 150 Prismas I was like, yea this isn't for me! I also have the full set of KingArt gel sticks and I love that you don't have to activate them with water. I learned from K (Colouring with K) that you can scribble with the gel sticks on a palette and pick it up with those blending brushes, and apply it to your page that way. K did a page with a lion in Rita Berman's Afrika book and she used that method with the KingArt gel sticks for the background. You can do that with Gelatos too. But you definitely have to put a sheet of wax paper so it doesn't transfer to the other page. I'm not sure if you can you a spray fixative on them or not, but you should be able to if you do activate them.

Thanks for the tips Nicole! I have a few spray fixatives, but I'm not liking the results with those. Maybe it's a matter of the brands I'm using or maybe my 'spaying' technique. I have to do more research. If I find one that really works for me, I'll share. Hope you have a great week. Again, stay safe.

@@BiancaIris33 Oh you're welcome hun! I have some workable fixative spray but I've always been too afraid to use it so I just slap a sheet of wax paper or printer paper in between the pages lol! So yea, if you find something that works I would definitely be interested in hearing about it! Thank you!
