How I updated my oak buffet with Behr chalk paint

I've got a beautiful oak Buffet, but it's outdated. I decided I wanted to paint it and make it look nice again. I purchased Behr chalk paint at Home Depot and had it tinted in the color rare earth. I also decided that I should use their wax as well. The color I chose for the wax was dark.
I've used chalk paint many many times, but I've never use the Behr brand. I decided I should follow the directions so I sanded off the shiny finish and the doors and drawers. I decided I was going to be updating my hardware, as well, so I purchased black matte handles. I am waiting for my new hinges to show up but that will be later. 
This was a very easy product to work with. The paint went on smooth, left no brush marks and was very creamy and not thick or runny. The wax was a medium soft and went on easily as well. It was very forgiving and did not leave swirl marks or show the direction I waxed. It wiped off and buffed beautifully.
I would definitely use this product again. I love the finished results.

Lovely job, I have refinished many pieces of good quality furniture and it is certainly worth the effort. The quality in these pieces is so good, unlike what you find today. Thank you for the excellent direction.

This turned out beautiful, I love the color. All of my kitchen and bathroom cupboards and drawers look just like what your buffet looked like originally. I’ve been thinking about painting them like you did, but I’m so hesitant. I love the look of the grain in oak furniture and so many people cringe when you say your going to paint your furniture. Also everything comes full circle, meaning maybe the orange-ish color of oak cabinets are dated right now but will probably come back in style like so many other things. My bathroom sink cabinet in my hall bath is the smallest of my cabinets, maybe I’ll start here for now. Any opinions? The chalk paint you used looks like awesome paint. The brand Behr has always been one of my favorites. The new door and drawer handles are beautiful, but I have a question, why did you not choose the same color/finish for the hinges?

I have the hinges on order. I just wanted to get it put together. If it takes much longer, my husband will be painting them. I definitely think you should start with your vanity. A small project. Believe me when I tell you how nicely this paint goes on. No brush marks either. I also loved using their wax. It works nicer than other brands I’ve used in the past. Let me know how it goes!
