It's nice to have you give some attention to the fanfic side of the community. People tend to attribute fanfics as pure degeneracy without taking into account the lighthearted stories that in most cases are the large majority in these websites like Ao3. As a relatively new fanfic writer myself, i know the feeling of having people read my stories based entirely on headcanons or personal opinions, and it's kinda refreshing to know that people are taking their times to read about my (usually) crazy delusions.

I can relate to this topic quite a bit. I've come up with a lot of really nice video ideas over the years. But as my channel's grown, I've started to realize that a lot of the ideas would only interest a small subset of people who are heavily invested in the lore. As my channel gets bigger, a lot of these videos will end up not being worth it growth-wide. Because of that, I've flirted with the idea of writing them out as essays on a blog instead as many people who would be interested, would likely still read them. The point is, I can always do something with these ideas later besides a video. In the mean time, I've been working on my own fanfics on the side. While I only have one out right now, I have several planned out and ready to be written.

This feels like a wakeup call to actually go read Touhou Fics. Especially oneshots. I can't remember the last time I read a random fic i saw pop up on AO3... Instead, just kept on writing without getting new material...

Still appreciate that mother's day fic you made, it's given me the urge to write something about Yukari and Reimu in a similar familial fashion, dunno if it's ever gonna see the light of day tho

I tend to relate to characters like Koishi Komeiji, Aya Shameimaru or even Aki Shizuha in canon because of how tragic they are, or in Aya's case, they have to carry a heavy burden. Wriggle Nightbug is different because I expanded on her personality based on what I thought would work, since she had little to go off of in canon. She's a Firefly Youkai who can control insects, she wants to impress people, and she acts pretty tough. So putting all this together, you can see where I went with Wriggle Nightbug, which made me like her even more. This is the kind of character I tend to write, since I'm the kind of person that sympathizes with characters and analyzes everything rather than sit down and enjoy some mindless action scenes. While I do put action in my fanfics, I use it as a way to develop characters in ways I can't. Writing fanfics this way can be really fun, and I'm glad someone can appreciate the world of Gensokyo as much as I do.

i've always wondered how fanfic writers come up with their ideas. i'd get into it , but im awful at writing. also the music during the "dancing through time" section sounds familiar :)

Awesome video once again, but I particularly like that this focuses on fanfiction, as much as fanart and fangames deserve attention, but have always been kept aside. I WILL read your stories...once I get around to it eventually.
