I agree! Loved how thorough you are.
I finally got tired of my hairstylists crap and am never going back so I’m trying to resist the temptation to do this 😂 I would never but it’s tempting
I lived with my best friend who was a hair stylist for years and I learned a lot from watching her bleach my hair every couple weeks at our home, but the pandemic separated us for months SO I found this video and used this method while FaceTiming her and IT TURNED OUT AMAZING! The only difference is that I teased down the roots since I wasn’t doing a root shadow, for my first time bleaching my hair by myself I was so proud. Thank you!!!
Thank you for being so thorough and informative.....you speak in layman terms that makes it so easy for anyone wanting to learn about hair!! Thank you for explaining why you create the formulas the way that you do, it makes so much sense. Not a lot of people explain their formulas as thoroughly as you do. I understand it way better now. Please keep up the great work! I love watching your videos....can’t wait for more! Definitely following...🥰🥰🥰🥰
I’m loving your blouse and makeup with your new haircolor..great video❤️🙋🏻♀️
loved this!!!!! I look forward to your videos so much! 💕
Perfect timing! I’m in so need of this
I would never try this at home lol but it was fun to watch!!! Plus, I actually have questions because I have shadow root as well and I'm looking to have a professional tone the part of my hair that has dye. It was interesting to see and have you explain why you used a toner on your shadow root!
New subscriber! Great video👍 I am a stylist and do my own hair a lot !!this video was helpful ❤️you’re a great natural teacher
Sooooo I just did the mohawk crown part of this method (I'm doing the sides tomorrow on my day off) and OMG Sam thannnnkkkkk you! What a great method I've tried so many diff approaches! This looks amaze I'm excited to do the sides and demi permanent color tomorrow 💖
The finished look is gorgeous!!! This video was very helpful!
❤️ Love this style and color on you!❤️

Sam Vay oh did you do the curling iron method that you showed on the mannequin? I didn’t realize it would work so well with short hair, too! 😃😃😃 my hair is at the awkward hit-my-shoulders-and-flip-everywhere stage so it’s about time for a chop chop.

Allison Wilson if your hair is shoulder length, that technique would definitely work! But I have another one from a few months ago that I demonstrate on myself where I use a flat iron! That’s what I did in this video :)
Just love how you teach, thank you from your diy follower 😀
OMG LOVE THIS 🙌🏻
I think you should do a video series reacting to the before and afters that you do in the salon you work at. Like a “hair stylist reacts to my own before and afters”
Obsessed with your brows 😍
Hi Sam, if I'm unable to find Redken for the root shadowing and for the tips. Can I use Wella and what numbers? Thanks in advance
thank you, great video! I'd love to see more ! (I do my own highlights, but am not a hairdresser)

How do you know what volume will match your current bleached hair? I want to touch up my balayage myself but idk how to make sure it matches my current blonde
@juliettedonohue7069
3 жыл бұрын
@@adrianatate5061 I dont, if I feel my ends ar not light enough, I will apply a milder mixture : bleach which goes only up to 6 or 7 levels, with 7 volume developper, a bondbuilder (I use B3 BrazilianBondbuilder), and mix up to 1 for 2.5 or even 3; I don't do that if ends are light enough, but when I pull out the foils I will pull the bleach down ; only if needed, I will quickly apply a bit of fresh bleach with bond protector to brighten the ends just before rincing (it only stays on 5 or 10 minutes), to ensure the blonde is even. Hope it helps.
I’m so going to try this!

Did you do it? How did it go?
Love it
You mentioned towards the end that you thought about giving yourself a trim (obv before your co worker done it) just wondering if you have a video on how you would do it on yourself?
When you do the shadow root is it covering grays? Doenst it go ruin the bayalage?
Is it the same process if I wanted to do the back myself?
Do these toners cover grays at the root?
gorgeous
Thank you 😊
Question. Will it work if I use the Wella lightning powder on previous demi colored hair?

Hiya, I have balyage and just want to touch up the bits at the front and maybe make them a bit thicker. How do i make sure the new bleached bits go the same colour as the old bits? x

My question exactly
my stylist used foam for my balayage...is there a difference between foam and foil?
Do you have a video on how to do the back ?
If I do a shadow root will that cover the gray hair at the root
Hello, just found your page, and have seen a couple videos so far! I really like them, very informative. Now, I plan on retouching my balayage at home. I do have my cosmetology license but haven’t practiced in 10 years.. can you please tell me where can I buy the redken shades eq? I just looked online and found it in Walmart, but I know they overprice certain items (ie. Olaplex) Is there a page for license cosmetologist to get it for a better price? I checked cosmoprof but they don’t carry this in their store.

Thanks! My hair isn't light enough for a 9
Thanks for the tips on the volume of the developers. I got the 30. Wished the clerk would’ve told me the difference so I can go with 20 for beginners like me. 30 might be too risky then.
Where can I buy redken toners?
Your hair always looks stunning! I also need hair help. My hair is an unatural color (as you can see in my picture) and my roots are grown out a little. I want to go for a natural color. If I go to a salon, would I be able to go for something like a balayage? Would it be a difficult process?
@styledbysamvay
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It depends how easily that color will come out. You'll have to remove it before doing anything lighter.
you lool gorgeous ;) short hair suits you
Are you kidding me?! Of course you can foil your hair yourself, is there anything you can’t do, you Wonder Woman! I could barely touch up my own outgrowth 😂
I have a question . When you do highlights , do you place the lightner on the roots ? 🤔 Because I know I heard you said you wanted to keep the roots black but I'm just wondering . Thank you 🙂😊

Why did you slice the money piece since you bleached all of it? Couldnt you just saturate the whole piece?

You could, but you’ll get the best and most even lift when you take thinner partings at a time.

I'm going to get a balayage done Monday, at first when I contacted the salon they were like "yeah, we have one hairdresser who does it". Then when I made the appointment they made it sound like she have only done it a handful of times.... Now I'm tempted to cancel the appointment
@styledbysamvay

Maja Jensen yeah that doesn’t sound too good. I would cancel ASAP and go to a place where the stylists specialize in it.

@@styledbysamvay thank you for your input! I cancelled the appointment and found someone who mostly does balayage. It's almost 100 $ more but at least it will be done right. 😄
And the back?
It's called a classic bob
Can I ask what the benefit of posting a diy tutorial is as a professional? I’m personally mentally exhausted with color corrections. I’m sincerely not trying to hate, I’m just confused.
@styledbysamvay

If people want to do their own hair at home, they're going to do it regardless. May as well show the correct way to do it. Plus, if it weren't for me messing with my own hair when I was younger, I wouldn't have discovered my love for hair color. And color corrections make you a lot of money, so what are you complaining about!!???! Lol ;)

Sam Vay not complaining haha, I just prefer to not start with a disaster 😂 also soooo over explaining to people that it’s not my fault that they screwed up their hair, and that I have to charge accordingly. Oof.
@styledbysamvay
4 жыл бұрын
No I totally get that!!! Same here.
I am confused when I hear Caution on Hair bleach, it will dry or damage the hair at least a little, whether you put it in my hair or I do. Common sense goes along way, I actually love hair bleach especially on new growth hair it lightens so pretty makes it shiny and give my hair a bit of volume, I have been doing my own highlights for awhile now. I have tried many different techniques. Honestly it doesn’t have to be this involved and time consuming, I have found just paint it on, working with two maybe three big sections. no teasing, no foils.... this is way to technical. It absolutely doesn’t have to be this time consuming at all. Also 10v will do close to nothing. Also toner is a joke. It’s not needed If you have to tone to get it looking right you didn’t bleach it enough... hence 10v sux.
Sorry, I don't trust these videos where we don't see the finished product until 2-3 days later. That's cheating.
@styledbysamvay
2 жыл бұрын
Lmao there is no cheating... I promise those are the real results that I got. I just knew that I wanted a haircut afterwards, so I didn't want to waste the time to blowdry and style it right away. I have tons of other similar tutorials where I do share the results immediately after. :)
