How I Teach Kindergarten At Home (without a curriculum!)

I’m now homeschooling my third child in kindergarten and I feel like I’ve finally got things figured out 🤞🏻 over the past 5 years I’ve refined Charlotte Mason’s simple, yet effective method for teaching preschool and kindergarten-age children and I’m excited to share it with you! The best part: You dont need a curriculum! (Although you can totally use one if you want to!)
This method also works beautifully for preschool-age children.
All you need are some good books, the outdoors, and some items to count.

    In Finland, they don’t start formal education until age 7. And they get some of the best test results in the world.

    It’s amazing what happens when you slow down and let kids do what they’re supposed to do!

    Im so happy i found your channel. Homeschool mama of five. Im struggling to balance all the ages (11, 11, 6, 3 and 1) I feel guilty if my older gets done get everything accomplished for the day while also feeling like my younger ones are feeling left out. Your videos reminded me they still need time to be kids, explore, and havw fun. ❤

    Homeschooling is so, so hard. There is so much guilt and feeling you’re not doing enough. But honestly, we don’t have to do as much as we think we do! Giving kids space to learn on their own is actually one of the best things we can do! Isn’t that such a relief?? 🥲

    I have four boys (8, 6, 4, and 1) and I want so badly to have a homeschool like this but it’s not my family dynamic and I don’t know how to change it :(. My boys are sooo wild, don’t listen to instruction, and the days just feel chaotic. I have tried to have a sort of homeschool schedule and it doesn’t end up working in the long run. I need like a super nanny for my homeschool to come help me know what to do!!

    I totally get this. Honestly, there are days I feel like quitting because my boys can be so hard to manage - active, rowdy, etc. it’s been especially hard since winter started. We have to take breaks every 30 minutes to jump on the tramp, do jumping jacks and sprints up/down stairs, and spinning in a therapeutic swing. You’ll know what’s best for your family! Maybe homeschool someday, but if not then lots of learning at home on weekends and breaks

    You mentioned something about links for books? and a future video on teaching reading. If you haven’t been able to get to it yet, no stress just wondering if it’s here and I’m just not seeing it

    Let me double check that… I have an Amazon storefront so they’re probably on there. But I’ll double check to make sure!

    And I am working on a reading video! I’ve recorded it twice now and still don’t feel like it’s right. I’m working with my 6 year old and that makes it more difficult lol I think I’ll have to let go of perfection and just settle with “good enough”

    How to you instill habits with defiant children?

  • @simplewondersacademy

    @simplewondersacademy

    7 ай бұрын

    Defiance is a symptom of something deeper going on, which is usually caused by one of three things: insecure attachment with parents (which triggers counterwill), lacking necessary skills, or lack of good, living ideas. Start with these: make sure you’re spending 15 minutes of positive, quality time everyday with the child. Break tasks down into simple, easier tasks so they’re less daunting. And remove any media that teaches disobedience and defiance to authority (modern kids books and shows have a lot!) and replace with media that nurtures ideas of honoring parents, being helpful, selfless, etc.
