You can be a bit cheaper and get a simple matte screen protector. They are a lot cheaper than the official paperlike ones and still gives the feel of paper (while reducing glare)

Omgosh I finally got an iPad and I'm so happy because I have papers from previous uni years that I can't throw away not because they're pretty but because "What if somehow I end up needing them later on?" Which, ok that IS true if you have math notes and you are going to take a more advance math class, but it doesn't make much sense if you had to take a philosophy class for your major but the rest of your degree has nothing to do with philosophy (but I still can't throw them away alkdjfkdljalkjf). I have so many notes I can't get myself to throw away, but at least from here on there won't be as much, hopefully T^T

yESSS omg i feel that. i still kept my notes from philosophy in first semester too lol. at the same time though, it’s so nice to look back at old notes and remember that time & i wish i would have kept some of my old notebooks from elementary school :( but goodnotes makes it way easier to keep old notes digitally for sure !!

@@jannatara Aaahhh my dad once told us he wished he had kept his school books for memories to show to us, and so I decided to keep some of my elementary and middle school books and notes (for memory too, but also because.....what if my possible future children need it?!!! 😂😅)

I say go for it, if you don’t want to spend all your money on an iPad I recommend the iPad 7th gen (it’s the one I have) its like 330-450 dollars but it’s totally worth it, and it is compatible with the 1st gen Apple Pencil

i’m kinda scared to buy the pencil from the link lol because of the eh reviews but did you have any problems with the pencil? and did it the charger come and everything?

my pencil works fine but that's a reasonable concern! on the apple website, the pen costs $5 more + shipping + tax i'm assuming, so maybe that'll be a better place to look? and my ipad came with a charger but i don't think all of them do :/ i just got lucky in that regard

Hello! Maybe it's a dumb question but when you make your notes on the powerpoint on Goodnotes, does it alter the actual powerpoint document or is it just a copy of it? Thank you.

it alters the version on goodnotes, but you can redownload it from the original source (like your computer if it’s on microsoft ppt or something) and that version will be clean. i hope that answers your question!

what flash cards app do you use?

I don’t know why I’ve torture myself but I have both notability and good notes and I’m SO torn on which app to use that I’m thinking of going back and forth each week to really decide what’s better? I’ve had notability longer so I tend to favor that one but I love good notes for anything pdf related

yess omg i haven't downloaded notability but i keep thinking about the voice recording feature and lowkey regretting my decision a bit. at the end of the day, you can't go wrong by choosing whichever one is most functional for you at the moment & adds simplicity to your life!

I had notability back in 2011 and boy did that help A LOT. so when i say i've had notability longer I mean it LOL. but the app was so infant at the time and there was no good stylus, i still preferred to print out my power slides and write on them pen and paper type. but now with the apple pencil. heck yes, grad school i'm ready and paperless

Sameee! I love both honestly because they are so similar. For me it’s actually the other way around, I use notability especially for pdfs and goodnotes more for visual learning :) I’ve had goodnotes longer but I am kind of moving over to notability because of their auto-synchronization with google drive, one drive etc. ! it’s just really convenient to be able to quickly access my notes on my laptop (and even offline)

What pen size do you write with... I fr can’t write on GoodNotes :( it’s hard, I can write so nicely on the notes app though but I’ve paid for goodnotes.. the ballpoint pen is too thin and the thicker size makes my writing look nasty. Edit-- nvm you just said it

does goodnotes a continuous scroll like one note?

How big the file size? I write about 15 pages and the file take about 156mb when i export it to pdf. Do you know how to resize this file? Even i scan my 700pages of book only take about 70-90mb. But this 15pages = 156MB is absolutly crazy... No one talk about the file size when writing using goodnotes.

I have one question, I apologize if you talked about it in the video, I just didn’t hear it if you did. But when in class, do you ever actively take notes as the lecture is going on? Or do you wait to do all of your notes properly during free time, and just follow along with the PowerPoint during class? I’m planning on getting an iPad before my next semester begins and am trying to figure out how I’d want to take notes with it haha

i actively take notes in class (mainly so i don’t spend a lot of my free time taking notes & bc it forces me to focus in class) and then after class, i’ll add things to my notes and google anything that’s confusing to make sure i understand the material

thank you!! ^^ the comment above is correct, i first record all of the clips with my canon g7x camera and then i film a voiceover using the voice recording app on iphone :) for handwriting, i think the paper like screen protector really helped give a matte surface and just writing slowly and getting use to writing on the ipad before increasing your speed should help a little!!

hi everyone I’m an incoming college freshman and I’m not sure if I should get a MacBook Pro or the iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil for college, I also started a redbubble shop so if I get the iPad that would really help with graphic designing but I want to also use it for notes and school! so which device would you recommend?

well this isn’t the ipad pro based if of the price i assume this is a ipad 7 which is a good budget ipad, with all of the ipads you can find keyboard attatchmets. so that’s a plus but if you buy the ipad pro it’s generally the same price as a macbook air or pro but the keyboard attachment will run you 100-300 more dollars if you buy it from apple i think. so if you wanna be able to switch between typing and writing notes i suggest the ipad but if you don’t mind typing the macbook should be okay

i would like to recomend buying a case with a tip for your apple pencil bcuz you have paper-like screen protector so ur pencil tends to wear down little by time :)

It depends on you. If you want an iPads but still want to type, there are keyboards made for that. I personally think it depends on you and if you are faster at writing or typing

It's beautiful what you make and thanks for sharing that. The only I really don't like is that background music. Further on keep up the good work!

i mainly use my ipad for youtube, goodnotes, and procreate so it’s very worth it for me & i don’t plan on upgrading anytime soon!! i’m not sure what new features the ipad 2020 version has though

I'm getting an iPad air when they go on sale. I notice that everyone who has done a video on Goodnotes 5 is a Medical student.... Every one of you guys. Half seem to make stickers too. I've been out of college a long time. In fact I took notes on an NEC 8201 and Radio Shack Model 100... My professors told me they had never seen anyone use a computer to take notes. (1984). I'm IT and need a way of taking procedural notes as well as my calls. So the searching hand writing function is great. I also make crafts like Sublimation Mugs and Shirts. so fun times.

Ahh can I ask when in college did you realized it was okay to not write everything down? I’m a sophomore now and I definitely cut out a lot of things for notes but I still rewrite at least 3 times and condense each time ahhhh

after fall semester of sophomore year! i realized how much time i was spending on notes and that this was not very valuable. spring semester of sophomore year, i was physically not able to take so many notes bc i was in 3 science courses and trying to rewrite notes really put me behind in my courses. i began putting more effort into synthesizing and taking good notes while in class and then using active recall to study. writing everything feels nice and was kinda comforting but it wasn’t effective for me lol. i still fall into the bad habit of wanting to write out everything though, esp during online classes now. it’s something i have to actively stop myself from doing

yeah digital note taking is so much better for me too because like I don’t want to hold 6 KG of notes on my back and never get rid of them because I’m attached too lol so now it’s alll stored in my ipad which is much much lighter and easy and yea

i used to use the muji gel ink 0.38 mm pens and i really enjoyed them! rn i've been using matador ballpoint pens; they're on amazon but i'm not sure about the quality or legitimacy since i didn't buy them online. otherwise, any thin, ballpoint or gel (but not too inky) pen is my go-to!

Something you should now is that after a while the paper like screen protector damages the tip of the Apple pen :(

The app goodnote is free on the ipad? Because I see that everyone use that app but when I see on my phone (Apple) is not free and for an app is a little expensive

You have to change the settings when you create the book, it gives you the option to swipe or scroll
