HOW I STOPPED TAKING ADDERALL, how to deal with amphetamine withdrawal

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Book is out - HOCUS FOCUS : Coming of age with ADD and its Medicines. - www.bit.ly/3ZA3XyI
This is a part of my story of Adderall use and abuse.
I hope this can help anyone else on the path of healing, learning and growing.
Having taken amphetamines for most of my life and departing from them, I again feel called to communicate with the ADD/ADHD community about what I have experienced, the impressions left on me and the perspective I have developed over time.
Feel free to ask questions and respond so we can construct a better image of this situation as a whole
Please comment and subscribe and I will reply to comments in more video and we can engage in a dialogue that can get to the bottom of our relationship to substances that relate to attention.
I am learning so much, Thank you for watching.
do you take amphetamines? Do you like them? Are you ever worried about them being too strong? Have you tried alternatives? Have you tried to quit? Tell me all about it in the comments

@@marshallstrander3922 thank you for asking! It went okay, I did indeed stop the adderall and it was just awful. The withdrawals were extremely intense. I've dealt with substance abuse issues for so long, so many years. Today, I am 11 days sober from everything. No weed, booze, or pills. Recovery is probably one of the hardest things to overcome, and to anyone who reads this, please know that you are not alone and that it will get better. Stay busy. Don't think too much, just commit to your new life and trust that it will get better. Things will feel raw (they do for me as I type this) and it may feel like you've lost part of your identity. There will absolutely be times that you are triggered, but find strength in whatever you can to make it through. For me, things were very boring at first, like nothing was sentimental anymore. But it will come back, and it will be more meaningful when you can find the things that do feel sentimental again. It will get better

Started taking Adderall a year ago cuz my bros had extra supply. Before that I used it once or twice a week and everything was fine. When I used it I was super productive and that was it. Once I had more access I started using everyday all the time. A year later now I realize how much of a negative impact it’s had on me. My sense of creativity is washed out. So many things that made me content in life before just do nothing for me anymore. I used to exercise all the time. Now I never do Probably about two months of me having days where my brain is just completely and utterly not working and feeling like I have CTE or something has made me realize I must stop this shit before I go down an even deeper hole that will effect me for the rest of my life.

Ive on been on adderall for a little over a year, (my dr thought it would help my already existing depression and anxiety). I didnt think this was going to be so hard, because i get cocky- but if I didnt have a daughter, theres a good chance I would have ended my life yesterday. My Dr was SO quick to prescribe me adderall, and it makes me angry. YOU were withdrawing after 16 years, and made it to the other side an incredibly strong and insightful human. That gives me hope. Lol this is so nice. On the internet there are some scary resources for people. "Oh you can suddenly stop taking meds, you don't need to taper stimulants, oh no you can't become dependent if taken as prescribed, and you should not experience withdrawal unless you were not taking them properly/ abusing your meds." Lol. You're content is so relatable, I have not seen anyone else that has had the same experience as me. I was looking on tiktok and found a bunch of ppl who stopped then decided they needed the drugs and went back. OR ppl who stopped then making their videos 2 weeks later about their journey when how can they feel normal after only 2 weeks??? It's just so nice to see someone else who has experienced something very similar, thankyou for sharing your story (:

This really helps me, I have saved this video (I'm nearly at 21 days off) and this will help me as have to go back to grad school in about a month and I'm terrified if I can make it without amphetamine. Thank you so much

Very interesting perspective. I'm 35 and just figuring out my ADHD and how it has formed me. Adderall has been a godsend to me, however I can DEFINITELY feel it needs to be in small doses. I feel like normally all my life it was very hard to find that rewarding feeling after completing a task like you said, but with Adderall it feels like I really did it and did it well.

Very honest account - thank you for sharing. You are making a significant difference to lives you'll never meet. I haven't stopped taking Dexamphetamine. I tried several times and felt exactly how you described. Fatigue was the most debilitating effect. Sleeping just 5-6 hours a day on Dex I'd go 12-15 hrs broken sleep when I stopped. I feel't totally useless, ugly and dumb... .. . and that was just the first couple of days. I have been on Dex for over 15 years and the thought of stopping seems a barely sensible option to my Dex addicted brain. Best wishes to those trying.

I often feel like I need this. I try and imagine who I would be if I had never started taking Adderall and I feel like they would be a complete stranger from who I am today. I also try and imagine how I could function or do anything with my life if I ever decided to go off of adderall. I also feel like there is a war inside of my body where one side of me is trying to pull me away from the adderall and the other side of me pulls me towards it. I don't think I have a strong enough support group to go through this. I fear I would lose everyone I care about. But I also fear that I will never know who I really am. I've been taking adderall since early high school. Now I am 20 and living on my own. I have so many dreams and goals. What if those goals go away when I stop taking it?

Well done on quitting, man. I related to a lot of what you said and have had to deal with trying to quit. It's been fucking with my head because I do want to quit but can't get over that initial hump of apathy, fatigue, emptiness etc. Not having energy and motivation is probably the worst because i can't focus and am not productive-can't complete assignments or even attend lectures. I can't afford to miss out on more work and fuck up. Whenever i've tried to quit, its been "cold turkey" resulting in dibilitating withdrawal. I know you mentioned it but, do you have any advice or tips for tapering off over a long enough time so that i can feel at least relatively "alive" each day to complete responsibilities and tasks. Thank you for the video and welcoming questions.

I have always wondered how people cope with the tapering. After riding the withdrawal rollercoaster so many times in 12 years, my personal experience with tapering was that it never helped me. In fact it almost seemed worse than cold turkey which is where I am currently at. Tapering just extended the feelings of worry, panic, and impending doom. I am glad I found this channel, it is reassuring to know I am not alone. Good luck to you in whatever you decide! Time for a nap for me! lol
