In this tutorial video I show you how I create a number of backlit off camera flash portrait photographs of a bride and groom in the rain!
All the photographs in this tutorial video were taken on my Sony A9II camera with my Sony 50mm f1.2 GM lens. I used one Godox AD200 speed light behind the bride and groom to light the rain drops and another in the MagBox Pro 42" softbox to light the bride and groom from the front.
This video was filmed on my 3 day wedding photography workshop, SHINE. A huge thank you to all the photographers who attended the workshop and made it such a great experience.
A huge thank you to Darcie & Matt for modelling and my partner Helen Williams and wedding photographer Matt Pritchard for filming this video:

making this shot needs a tripod... it is impressive that you were able to maintain the perspective and align it in post. so inspiring, thanks Neil.

A tripod is definitely best but it's possible, using the align feature in Photoshop, to do it handheld as long as you stay very still. But yes, a tripod is always better! Thank you very much

A stunning shot - no doubt about that. Creating this at a real wedding would require rain (obviously), and a couple willing to partake in such creative endeavours. Oh, and I've never though of an AD200 as a speedlight, for me it's a portable strobe.
