@@ThomasAlexNorman Jeez dude :D if i would do that without a gimbal you couldn't use the footage :D
Just a tip In the tree's flower shot, instead of going out of focus to in focus, do the contrary. Start in focus and go backwards loosing focus. Then, reverse it in the edit. It works like a charm. Keep up the good work! Great video.

I love how you show a preview after taking the little bit of b-roll. Makes me excited and happy
Ive seen quite a few tutorials about shooting b-roll in youtube but I find this the most useful- when we can actually see you doing it and follow along. Thanks for the tips!
I really appreciate how you emphasized sequencing the shots, moving from wide to close. Always easier to plan your shots and how they’re going to fit together then feel the frustration of missing a key shot when you’re putting things together in post. Super well done video. So helpful. Thank you very much.
Damn I love how you are able to ignore the people who wonder what you are doing. I still get very self conscious about people looking at me while I'm recording. Half the time, I'm not even talking into the camera which I'm sure would be even harder. Maybe you should write a video about that one day mate. Anyway, thanks for the tips. Whoever gave this video a thumbs down is a weak hater with serious mental issues. They are jealous that their work sucks and instead of working on doing better, with your tips, they rather live life a loser. Cheers Mate!

I am 100% with you on this one! I was very self conscious for a long time, trying to put videos together and getting absolutely no where as I'd lose my trail of thought every time someone would walk near me ... I could be knocking a shot out the park, see someone and freeze 😦👎 Keep at it though, for me it was just a case of scripting bullet points so I had a rough idea what I wanted to say, taking a deep breathe, fighting that fear and rolling with it ... Eventually I began to see nobody really bothered and those who did actually took an interest, asking questions about my channel & giving advice on what I should be looking to film in their towns, etc 😁

All you do is pretend you're a pro on "assignment" and like you're too busy to care what peeps are doing! LOL
I've been loving this series!! At times, I came home from a shoot and go through the clips and felt so unsatisfied that I never used them, but I couldn't put my finger on what I was doing "wrong." I'm realizing from your tips that I've been doing silly little things like filming 10-second clips in which I spend 5 seconds looking for the shot. These tips will definitely help me maximize my time and storage, and I'm excited to use them in my next video, so thank you !!
This is perfectly the kind of tutorial I’d been looking for for quite some time. Thanks a lot for making this. You’re amazing
The way you included the shot your were taking as you explained things is brilliant! It's this kind of detail that sets fellows like you apart as excellent. Again, thank you so much.
Yu are truly an inspiration ...because of yur encouraging words I pick up the camera thanks a lot ...yu are awesome to this community 💯
Thank you for another great tip!!! Your tips and tricks have been helpful for my family travel videos.
No idea how I found your channel but im so happy I did! I'm truly feeling inspired thank you SO MUCH for sharing all your tips!!
The video i've been waiting for. Really learn a lot from you mate. Keep up the good content.
Awesome stuff. So useful for novices such me, where I'm trying to produce material for my bikepacking films and memories that's not just cycling. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for walking us through your process!
Well put video, using different elements to focus on texture, light, story. Love how it can together!
I think you have some of the best videos out there explaining how to film better! I really like how you take us with you step by step and that we can also see what's on your screen at the same time. Really hoping to take what you've said and put it into practice when we're filming our videos!
I've been looking for this type of video for a long time, and it's the first time I've found something like that. simple, effective Thanks for this kind of content, I appreciate it, and I want more!

the end result was really cool, alex. i walked away with some really nice ideas from this. thanks!
very much appreciate your video, you always can find the beauty point from the very common daily-life scenes, thank you for your very useful tips
Another amazing video - love how your movements are so subtle. I always move my camera loads and loads...great tips fella.
Hey, Thomas. For the flower shot, you can always start in focus on the subject and then move backwards and then play the clip in reverse in post so that it looks like you're moving into focus. Just a thought. Daniel Schiffer does a great job explaining it in his videos.
Love your videos mate, I always find your tips useful - no nonsense and straight to the point. ^^ Good one, keep it up.... Thomas

The edit was sick! Really enjoyed watching you put this together and gathering the inspiration. New subscriber! Thank you x
I subscribed at 1:20, this is proof that fancy gear and accessories are optional, specially when you are traveling, another thing you need and it doesn't take room in your backpack is the self confidence Thomas has. Nice video, I'll be watching more stuff from you mate.
Thank you so much! I used your tips and my video turn out much better than before. Wish you all the best!
Another unreal video! Thanks for taking the time to put this together !

Very helpful video! Thanks!
Great information, we are huge fans of your work.
Liked it. Simple but thoughtful movement and execution. Good to know info. You can do that on a point and shoot cam.
it came out really good
Tom, God knows how the heck do you make difficult bits look so easy. Epic!
Really nicely done and SUPER helpful-THANK YOU👍
Love your work Thomas 👏🏼
Absolutely quality video 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Amazing video, I learn every times with your videos Thanks
Very steady hands! Great skills! Thanks for sharing
Thank you for making this video and the tips so now I can improve the footage filming of my videos.
Thomas, this is amazing techniques and explanation. Also good idea to show short samples in between shooting rather that waiting for the last part to see the full clip. I recently started doing a bit of videos myself, and I was struggling to get stable shots handheld. but they way you do it, just amazes me. Thank you for great hands on tutorial. I can't get nowhere near the way you are doing, practice makes perfect _ I guess. Got a gimball for smooth shots and that solved few issues, but the weight of it kills me after a full day of walking around. Plus XH1, Well you have to sacrifice in some other areas in order to get a desired smooth shooting. Thank you. Will wait for more videos like that from you.
Loved it , each shot is related to other . it will add value to my shooting also thank you sir.
Cool tricks, I have been practising these tricks so many times for my travel videos. Hope I will perfect it one day
This was foreal so helpful

Hi Thomas, Also from me a huge thanks for all the tips, tricks and sharing your views about filmmaking with your fans here! I have learned a lot from you and I am trying to put it to good use which works sometimes better than other times. Also I cannot be as mobile as you are showing here because I have to use a walking cane to keep my balance. But again, that does not stop me from learning from pro's like you. Thank you for sharing and hopefully I can keep improving to the best ability I can bring.
Simple and awesome at the same time, really enjoyed your tips and definitely gonna be using them in my next travel video. Thanks 😉
