    Wow interesting to know you didn't do all the NBME forms available online. People always say to do those and not miss them... that's a relief because those forms are so long and hard to review, and they're not even in 40-question blocks!

    I have a question when it comes to the cards you counted for "reviewed" and "flagged". When you put numbers for "total reviewed" do you mean "total number cards you reviewed from that shelf" or "number of new cards you unsuspended from that shelf". Just to give a quick example, like for Surgery, did you do 1354 new cards throughout the rotation. Or was like 354 cards review cards you've had unsuspended from the past + 1,000 new cards. I'd love to be able to get my review counts down for 3rd year. Just did my first rotation (Peds!), and did all the cards which I think was a mistake looking at this

    Curious as a younger student watching this…not a medical student. Did you score in the same percentile (98th+) on your high school standardized tests? SAT, ACT, AP, etc.

  • @AnKingMed

    @AnKingMed

    3 жыл бұрын

    ACT and MCAT were both similar, yes, although I wouldn't compare the ACT and MCAT to step exams. There is always test taking skills that were help you, but the ACT and MCAT are much more reasoning exams, whereas the Step exams are built on a massive amount of knowledge and the more of that knowledge you know, the easier the test is. Just think of all the possible drugs and their side effects for example

    @@AnKingMed I understand. I was curious as to whether your scores would all correlate. I’m assuming that this is a common trend. However, I certainly see your point as to how the tests are different.

    How is AMBOSS better for Shelf and UWorld better for Step 2? Shelf is called Shelf because they're shelved Step 2 questions. I felt like my Shelfs so far have looked pretty much like UWorld

  • @AnKingMed

    @AnKingMed

    3 жыл бұрын

    AMBOSS was written for the shelf exams. Uworld was written for step 2. Also I felt AMBOSS did a better job preparing me for step 1 and step 2. Uworld tries to copy the exact difficulty and style of the actual tests, but that’s not necessarily the best thing. AMBOSS is much better at teaching the material and teaching test taking abilities. Regardless, I used both and I would probably recommend others use both as well if they want to score high

    @@AnKingMed when you talk about amboss. Say you were on surgery rotation, did you do the clinical shelf surgery questions and then the usmle step 2 ck questions where you can specifically select only surgery questions, Or just the shelf questions then save the step 2 ck for dedicated What I’m basically asking is how did you set up your custom session for each rotation?

  • @conman1395

    @@AnKingMed my point is that Shelf questions are retired Step 2 questions. So to say that one is made for Shelf is silly, because the questions on Shelf and Step 2 are both Step 2 questions.
