How I replaced the foundations in a wooden house myself | Don't waste part 22

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I am finally finishing replacing the foundations under the old wooden house - or more precisely, I am finishing the stage of pouring the foundation, and ahead of me is the stage of laying stone and brick. It took me 2 months, during which I dug out over 20 m3 of clay from under the house and prepared 20 m3 of concrete myself.
My new flail mower is finally delivered. I install it on the tractor, adjust and shorten the drive shaft. The mower has a difficult task, it has to deal with meter-long grass and over 2-meter-high reeds.

14:03 I am replacing the foundation under the third wall of a wooden house.
18:05 I bought a flail mower and I'm connecting it to a Kubota tractor.
20:51 How did the flail mower cope with 2-meter reeds?
24:11 I'm pouring the last fragments of the foundation with concrete. Summary.

My local blacksmith taught me that a scythe should be hammered thin rather than sharpened. He also showed me how to mount the blade to work best. He placed the shaft end top grip, on the ground, against a wall and showed that the radius from the shaft end to the tip of the knife should be a few inches less than the radius from the shaft to the scythe blade at the shaft. This ensured that the knife blade was not choked by too much grass. Wonderful tool and sustainable.

That's right, hitting the scythe with a hammer is the best method of sharpening, although it is not an easy skill. I do it, but I'm still far from practiced. As for positioning the scythe on the handle, I have a method that my father gave me. Namely, the distance from the handle on the handle to both ends of the blade should be the same. Thank you!

Of course it could be smaller, but when it is replaced, it is difficult to do it differently. However, you have to bring the concrete below the frost zones, and it is difficult to dig a narrower trench when working in such uncomfortable conditions. Thank you and best regards!

I don't use it because I don't have it. I don't want to buy it because I don't like to spend money on a device that will then lie in the corner, and renting it doesn't make sense because repairing the foundation in stages take lot of time and I would have to pay a lot to the rental company.
