How and why I rack like I do, remember though, boils down to personal choice!

Totally not how I rack my kit but I can understand the logic. I never understand why people get worked up over how other people rack up. Literally doesn't affect them in any way

Nice hearing from someone that has a completly different racking strategy. I find having all the kit in a totebag makes it easy to find and rumage through mid crux.

Great video! I would love to see a video focused on gear choices for more alpine/mountaineering routes than pure trad climbing, too.

Can't believe you're racking up without a helmet on ;-)

How you rack depends a lot about where your gear loops are on your waist, on my Edelrid harness the front gear loops are quite far towards the front, so I try to keep bigger stuff towards the back.

I personally go protection on the front 2 loops, spread out based on size with a couple of longer quickdraws because they're the pieces I'll be making decisions about and want to see/grab the easiest, and then I have standard sport length draws on the back loops because I don't need to see them to choose the right one, I know they're all about the same length so I can just reach for any

Good point about the central gear loop, I've heard of people doing themselves a lot of damage falling onto gear, equally it could be a sharp rock you land on but best to control what you have a choice over. Also a great point about 1 nut key per person! But where are your cowbells!? 😂 Thanks Jez.

I once saw somebody racking the cams by going pair numbers on one side and odd numbers on the other side (f.e. #1 and #0,5 on the left and #2 and #0,75 on the right). It can be useful to have similar sizes on each side so you can reach them easyly no matter wich hand are you holding on, specially with totem cams and other brands small sizes that tend to overlap more . Found that really works for me, have you ever tried?

I haven't tried it myself, but I've seen similar. Great you've got a system that works for you :)

Excellent video. Excellent content. I would love to see a video on why you carry what you do and some general uses for them. For example, the prusiks. I think I know what you use them for but I’d love to get your explanation. How you use your draws. Etc. Thanks!!

As a beginner trad climber intending on single pitches for now, i've just bought some 120cm slings. Would you recommend a 240cm sling too?
