Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Johannes Brecht is a bit of an Ableton mastermind. He's built an incredible outboard modular performance setup that he takes us on a tour of in this How I Play video. Watch more How I Plays here: • How I Play: DJ / Produ...

Love it love it love it. yes yes yes.
That sounded amazing through my speakers. Your mix is so crispy. Beautiful work.
This is a super impressive and brilliantly conceived setup.
Was für ein raffiniertes Setup. Hut ab für die ganze Vorbereitung und die Idee dahinter. 😍🫶🏽
How do you connect NI Kontrol F1 with Ableton like a midi device ? Please show me details and steps. Thanks.
Amazing and eye opening on possibilities! But now I've got even more question than before
whoaaaa sick setup man , love the minimalist approach
Very cool, sounds great! Inspiring live setup

Hi Johanness, is there a chance to find somewhere that f1 script? isn't available anymore on the site listed in the description

@@dhaze909 the script is only a small part of my huge max4live patch for my liveset. i developed it very specifically for my needs - unfortunately it is not possible to separate the f1 feature. but i plan to share max4live patches on my website due to the many requests. but it will take some time.
Inspiring work! Thank you!
These videos are great! You don't make enough of them though haha - thanks for the insight Johannes!
Thanks for sharing. Like it. Nice workflow.
Great live act ❤ great technical skills
Nice one team, thanks for the deep dive, strong work 🤙🏽😎🖤🕺

Nice!! Some great custom Features you’ve made there!
Excellent!
this was great, thanks
Links to the customized search function and Max for Live devices would be immensely helpful.

Very inspirational!
Sick setup. Really good sound too. Dude really put some work into Max4Live. The midi fighter twisters are super powerful.
Please share the link to buy the ableton script for the F1 with step recording and keyboard features.
You could make money sharing the M4L device you made to control the F1. There are a lot of forgotten F1s in closets.
super episode ;) !
insane
I’m completely stunned. This could be the most flexible yet powerful setup I ever seen. Does the single scene include the full arrangement or is everything built on the fly (as it looks)?
@hunterlyons6575

He produces each song then exports as stems. Each clip is a stem from a produced song. Doing it like this allows him to either play the song as it was arranged or remix it on the fly.
Please ask Johannes to share the various scripts. They'd help so many struggling to play live.

its amazing how bad ableton live is for actually playing live hey
what a legend
nice track
I'm so curious what device provides the MIDI clock or tempo sync or whatever for all these hardware devices. Is it just Ableton, do we think?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ awesomeness
Were can I find the mapping from F1? I can't find it on DJ Techtools.
nice!
HOW I PLAY IS BACK?!!!
Some really cool concepts in that setup. Love the focus knob, will be stealing that 😂. Do not fully understand how he goes from loops from the various stems to song structure: does he do this purely from live arrangement with the loops and additional instruments, does he trigger clips that play various parts of the arrangement, or do some loops play straight instead of looped? In similar fashion I don't fully understand how he does song transitions (as he says he doesn't play multiple scenes): so many things are programmed into these scenes (bpm, scale, etc) that transitioning seems complicated.

I can’t figure out how the focus knob works… as one focus’ midi binging should not coexist with different focus’ bindings, since those should be mutual exclusive
@JohannesBrechtMusic

the concept is to be able to decide as much as possible spontaneously. therefore i have developed different max4live additions. for song transitions, i have a so-called follow and jump function. this allows stems to follow other stems or jump between songs. since i only play one song in the video, i forgot to mention this :)

@@JohannesBrechtMusic you're telling me you just used 8 loops in the whole execution? I did not get how you organizdìed the midi fighters knobs too.. it seems every column is a track, is it?
how do you focus en one instrument? is it a m4l device?
Where can I get those 4 by 4 knobs ?
What's the yellow button do? ;-) Great track.
🔥🔥🔥
Stupid question but did Johannes say that with the MFT he turned down all of his tracks except for the moog via one knob? Great track Johannes - you’re a star!!!
This is incredible! How did he do the "everything else fades away" other than the Moog part at 7:15?
@brancoserra5509

Probably mapping that knob to every other element as a high pass or low pass filter or even volume. Map it inversed so when You turn it up it lowers everything else. He can do that since he has every track classified into 8 stems i think, like leads, pads, music, drums 1 drums 2 idk
I have a few questions, maybe one of you can help answer. 1) how do you you set up the NI F1 as a live instrument. Johannes mentioned it's mapped to ableton as well as the analog setup. Is it sending midi notes through ableton to the analog drum machines and then ableton is capturing the notes into the track, or the audio recording? I'm trying my best to wrap my head around all of this. I get the parts about how he's using the max for live to "display stem names" I guess just the names of the files that he's put in the different slots for drum / leads / vocal etc. 2) how can you make sure that the chords played with the midi controller are in scale? 3) I want to get started in production like this, and I'm trying to decide what gear to invest in to create & Play. Leaning towards Push 3 + (2x) Xone K2 for now. alternatively, keyboard like Korg MinilogueXD + (2) Xone K2. Being that there's so much the Push can do with polyphonic notes, drum, sequencing and launching, that seems the most modular. I'm really excited about this all and it's all a bit over my head. Thanks guys!
How did you make that "Focus" function where everything other than the one main sound is faded away when you turn the knob?
@giobifasoli

I'd map a group with everything but the lead and put a mild lopass filter on it
I got lost plenty of times. Trying to follow what the knobs did when they were pressed.
einfach zu krass

Yeah I also cringed at the shirt. I was watching a climate protest the other day and I realised that it's likely very few of them work in fields of renewable energy, climate or environmental sustainability. I have several friends who coincidentally work for large energy suppliers and green tech at high levels and inside these large organisations who we are paying to orchestrate this transition there is no where near the passion these protesters have. It's interesting to me that people care so much about an issue or problem and will happily devote their weekends do shouting about it, yet in practice or in their regular lives do nothing about it.
This is too nerdy
