Excellent video, as ever. Wasn't sure on the initial streaks but as is the way with such things, it takes a little time and patience to bring them to life, this being a good example of that. The gloss white is bombproof too - Excellent!

Happy you liked it, mate! Yeah, the initial streaks were total crap, but that's the beauty of this, isn't it? Definitely what made me really enjoy painting for the first time!

just found your channel, great content. What is the drying time for those lacquer colors, I guess more than acrylic paints?

Hi Tobias, thank you and happy you liked it! No, lacquers have much shorter drying times than acrylic, are far easier to spray, and produce a much tougher finish. Huge difference in all 3 respects.

I believe that using a masking fluid applied with a sponge can be used to create chipping effects before laying down the lacquer if I recall correctly.

Hi Aero, that is entirely correct, although it's not my preferred method of application. This chipping method already creates random patterns - when applying water and friction to the topcoat. In any case, that would not have made any difference here, as the issue was that the paint was waterproof and far too hard.

using an airbrush makes everything easy tbh. it's the cleaning that's a bitch.

Makes everything easy...once you know how to use it! Cleaning the airbrush is a breeze if you know the right combination of techniques and products, though. That, and maintenance steps like polishing or oiling the needle, using beeswax, etc. can really make a difference.

@@TheRaceForTerra nah you both made my point and misunderstood it, not really anything that hard from my perspective in painting, as a nmm painter I find the thing that's hardest is time consumption. I now only paint with brush because time cleaning the airbrush is time not painting. Then again i'm lucky that paint dries fast where I am. So i don't have that much downtime on brush. Also airbrush is a big investment, unless you don't care about your health 30 years from now that is. A pump that takes particles outside, a spray booth, the initial cost of a decent airbrush etc, the costs of clean up, also the fact that by nature an airbrush is a tiny bit temperamental in a way that can only be reacted to, so if for some reason there was a tiny piece of dry paint in the paint you were mixing in airbrush then you have a ruined paint job that needs fixing. Airbrush makes everything easier, at a cost is what I should've probably said tbh. I also still feel that outside people who use it for the initial stages only, it's a massive crutch that degrades a persons paintjob with obvious airbrush look. like don't get me started on airbrush OSL's...
