How I Overcame Growth Plateau and Now my hair is GROWING!!!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hey Y'all,
In this video I share some tips on how I was able to overcome the dreaded natural hair growth plateau and grow my hair! It was more simple than I thought it was going to be. Although I haven't seen an insane amount of growth, I'm very happy that it's growing even a little bit!
The tips:
1. Only wigs as protective styles
2. Condition multiple times a week
3. Use heavy oils and cremes for moisture
4. Massage scalp regularly

Thank you for being so honest! xx 1) Braid hair up and put it under a wig (NOT BRAIDS OR TWISTS!!) - Stops friction on hair and protects it from harsh weather. 2) Condition hair multiple times a week (2-3 times a week) 3) Use heavy oils and butters when braiding up hair - Gives hair lots of moisture and makes it thicker, longer, and stronger. 4) Massage your scalp - Stimulates hair growth MAKE SURE YOUR HAIR IS ALWAYS MOISTURISED UNDER YOUR WIG, DON'T NEGLECT IT!

It’s not applicable to all hair type though .my hair does not like heavy oils and butters . It becomes brittle after a few days

I'm starting to think the reason why they say black women can't grow long hair is because people have cognitive dissonance and don't realise a slinky, or a pen spring is longer than it appears. Someone with your length but straight will think their length far exceeds yours. I can see how that stereotype got around. Our hair is wonderful wow

I have 4c hair my hair is waist length. I wear nothing but braids. I do them myself. I do apple cider vinegar to detox my scalp. I wash condition my hair once a month. Then deep condition. I use aloe juice tea tree oil and a leave in conditioner mixed together. Then seal it with blue magic. My hair is so soft, strong and hydrated. It's so thick and healthy. Wigs also can cause traction alopecia so make sure always everything is loose.

Your video was more relevant for me. Sisterlocks took out my hair after wearing them for 8 years ( edges & crown) so I did the chop and have a TWA. This took me into a big depression & disputation. Went to a dermatologist so I still have follicles( more like traction & CCC). There is hope for growth. It is short so I can’t braid. Mine is excessively dry so I need the heavier oils. I have a wig which feels good in winter but I really want to eventually wear my hair by summer. I will order a satin wig cap. The nylon gave me a headache( felt it was squeezing my brain and leg indentation on scalp. After using several products, I found the Mielle on edges & crown which has rosemary, mint, & biotin & Aunt Jackie’s butter creme( intensive moisture sealant). I wash my hair 1x week and condition. Sleep with a satin scarf and pillow case. Do massage my scalp. I am older so my hair will take work. Praying.

Would you consider getting a deep treatment from a good natural hair stylist and getting a blow out and trim? I’ve started another natural hair journey (growing out a pixie cut) and this time I’ve decided to rely on a stylist rather than being my own hair dresser and it feels very moisturized and I think it’s going to retain a lot more length.

I'm doing natural hair braids and putting my hair in silk scarves under a headwrap instead of a wig. Wigs come with their own issues, the glue, the wig combs and clips, the wig caps rubbing on your braids etc. But I do agree, synthetic braids touching our fine strands is a no-no, I can't believe I put that crap in my hair in the name of protective styling. And it itched too! Skin barrier damage and dry hair for the price of one!

My hair says in my diy african threading and I redo it every 2-3 wks. I have 12 threaded sections and my hair stays stretched and hydrated. No need to deep condition until I go for a full-on wash day. My wigs come off each day and I change up my wigs to keep the rotation good. I use heavy products as well!

7 years and this is all you have to show? Girl it took years of LEARNING your hair. And once you finally figured it out, that's when you saw that growth. So if you count from the day you started doing it right. You'll find you got here alot quicker than you think 😉💕

From the sounds of it you have fine strands and high porosity hair so these tips will probably work well for people with that hair type. It is admittedly the most difficult to grow because the strands are possibly the most fragile haha

A lot of hair growth is INTERNAL. You need : 1. Adequate quality sleep 2. Healthy nutrition 3. Relaxation, destress4. 4. Hormonal balance A lot of people are doing the right thing taking care of their hair, but because they haven't took care of internal problems they see little to very slow progress. 1. Many people have too much STRESS. Stress takes nutrients from hair and pushes hair to fall out or go Dormant stop growing. 2. Lack of nutrients. Hair needs required b vitamins, protein etc. 3.Hormone imbalance. Excess ESTROGEN, INSULIN, CORTISOL all destroy hair growth If you HAVE STOPPED WEAVES, CHEMICALS, BAS HAIRSTYLES, and still STRUGGLING. You have an INTERNAL PROBLEM.

I believe our hair type was designed to be LOCed up. The afro is supposed to serve as the base and the locs grow from there. Our hair twists up and we in turn "detangle" it. That defeats the purpose of what our hair wants to do. My mom loced her hair and was so happy that it finally falls below her back. Loose natural hair takes TOO much work and product. I grew my hair out natural and loved it. Then became annoyed at the detangle time. No thank you. No more. Loced my hair and I wash when I want and just go, I only shampoo once a week. But wet/soak my hair every day. I use NO OTHER PRODUCTS and my hair Is soft and nice. Check out Ingrid Hart's channel or Addette Wellington.
