Love it or hate it, Instagram is a video sharing app now. After some hesitation, I finally caved and tried my hand at reels, applying my photographic knowledge to vertical video. In just over a month of posting daily reels, I’ve gained 20,000 new followers and amassed over 10,000,000 views. I’ve even made some money from Instagram’s Bonus program.
In this video, I show you the camera equipment I use, show you my exact camera settings, take you on a video shoot, and then teach you how to make a three tier reel in Adobe Premiere Pro. I’ll even show you how to export them in a way that preserves maximum quality when you upload them to Instagram.

Brother, I'm Brazilian and graduated in computer science. I was born out, and had to abandon my career due to medical recommendations. And since I took digital marketing courses during my undergraduate studies, and I love photography, I'm getting into this field! And this tutorial of yours is making a big difference in my professional growth! Thank you
Thanks to Katie for helping film behind the scenes!

It’s pretty awesome that people in the comments are offering helpful additions and tips to the video and not just dissing on it for not being completely comprehensive. Much appreciated

Love that this is all done with relatively minimal gear and easily achievable by most. No need for fancy field monitors or crazy expensive lenses or stabilisers. Props man

Yeah, easily "achievable camera" that costs 4000 euro, that is 4 average wages in countries of central Europe. Just lol at your comment.
In German, there's a word that describes it pretty well: "Reizüberflutung". You show the viewer more than they can perceive with their brain, more than they can process, providing them with the pure feeling of overwhelming happiness. One great shot is nice, but 3 great shots are flooding your brains processing power. Its like feeding yourself pure sugar.
Dude, this is awesome! Def just made me want to go out and try it. Loved the exposure to Premiere Pro too. Please do more photo/video tutorials with Premiere Pro 🙏🏻

Yes please, especially since I’m an adobe guy
Amazing quick video! I appreciate the tip about creating a 4K timeline bc I’ve struggled with the IG compression!
Great vid! Quick tip though, there's no need for the external grid, you can actually enable to show guides over the preview, and then you have the option to configure them by pixels or percentage. So to get that same grid you can use two guides, one at 33% and the other at 66%, plus you can switch them on and off very quickly with the button (they don't appear in the video even if you export with them toggled on ofc)

@@moneeb343 On the view panel, enable show rulers and show guides, then you'll see some rulers on the sides of the preview. Click them and drag to the center of the preview, and once you have it, right click the guide and then you can edit the exact position then. In case it is confusing I'm sure there are gonna be tutorials on YT too :)

Noti gang! 🦾
Perfect video and job bro
As a car guy and someone who just recently got into videography, this video came across my main page and it's been so informative. I did have a question though: Do you just move the camera slowly when recording or do you slow the footage down after in post? Trying to get into shooting more B-roll style footage for vlogs, fitness, etc. and haven't been able to figure out the most effective way to get this slow smooth style footage!
@justinbuice
Жыл бұрын
Personally I just move the camera slowly so when you see it played back, it’s regular speed. A lot of people will shoot at 60fps which would allow you to slow the footage down by half. Experiment with both and see which way works best for you 😎
Was just having coffee before heading to the office and you’ve given me a task today at work now😂

Personally I export in 1080 as I trust my render setting instead of instagram compression. I shoot in 4K and the footage is fantastic even on a 1080 rendered video 👍🏼. But I’ll definitely try to stack 3 landscape videos on top of each other next time 😊 thanks for the tip!

Love the detailed video Justin. Thank you for the tutorial. One question for you, do you know how we can make motion of the video back and forth? Similar to a boomerang but much slower and steady?

Great video. I need to make that sequence for Da Vinci
K&F filters are 🔥
Awesome video, really killer shots. Very cinematic! Quick question, you mentioned you shot those clips in 4k at 24fps. I'm assuming when shooting these types of shots it's best to do lower frame rate, due to there being very still movement unlike shooting a rolling shot of a car, would be best with 60+ frames, is that the case?
Thank you for this video
Feeling so inspired. Was wondering what are your thoughts in doing something like at 60fps? LOVE ITTT!
Thx for the export tips!
