Mama Brooke - I started to adapt this mindset of - I want my apartment to look like an apartment in Europe (Paris/Amalfi) until I have an apartment in Europe. I want everything I see to be beautiful. I have found antique chandeliers and painted everything bright white. The color scheme is white, blues and gold. I love the hunt for treasures so I thrift, Marketplace, estate sale and do all the things. My downstairs neighbor had her apartment flood one night so I told her to bring her cat and dog and come stay with me. I, like you have adapted the mindset - everyday is my best day and a reason to celebrate. Why have all those lovely things and not use them? The following morning she returned to her apartment she ran into my other neighbor who is my friend and said to her 'Who the hell does she (me)think she is!". My friend was so offended by her making that statement that she can over and told me. I just laughed and laughed because that was the best compliment ever! My goal is to have a life I do not need to escape from.

Well, that’s definitely the biggest compliment but the sad part is that she’s so jealous. She had to put you down but that’s OK. Just keep smiling and make sure you look fabulous when she sees you. Jealousy form of hatred that’s not on you. Well, if I don’t freeze them, I’ll eat them so I give them away to people. I have a favourite cashier at the thrift store. I bring her in little treats. My cousin likes a little treats and her family and her grandchildren so I just share with everybody else I have one or two it’s not that I don’t like them. My body just doesn’t need them, as you see, I’m not and I don’t wish to get any bigger. I’m a size 14. I’d like to be a size 12 see we’re never happy with ourselves but really honestly it is what it is.🍃🌸🎀🥂🍾

I love how you intentionally make your life sweet, pretty princess. I’m 71 in September, still feel about 14 in my heart…I look forward to watching you, as we have similar hearts. I look forward to clean sheet days, ironing my linens, cutting sprigs of flowers from my garden, so much wonderful vintage china..stored all over my house, while playing some Aretha music in the background….much love, and appreciation to you dear Brooke. 🤍🤍🤍🌹

I’m so happy that you feel 14 in your heart people might think I’m childish sometimes myself in my 60s, but I’m OK with it. I’m living my best life and these little things I do for myself there for me they’re not for other people no one ever spoiled me and it’s funny now that I’m spoiling myself my daughter spoiling me too.🍃🌸🦋❤️❤️❤️

Excellent video! Love this theme. :) I live alone too. This is how I romanticize my daily life. I love pearls, soft music, aromatherapy (esp. lavender, rosemary, bergamot), fairy lights, sexy perfume, vintage pictures, chandeliers, old candles (also beeswax), poetry, I write music, stained glass, thrifting, lacy things, doilies, rustic jars in kitchen, solitude, fairy door in garden etc. I also have weekly dates with myself (library, park, market etc.) BTW, I love the pic over your sink! I also draw inspiration from Pinterest. Imagination is key and i can transport myself to a romanticized world. As well, these 2 books are great - 'The Artist's Way' and 'Romancing the Ordinary'. For me, to live a romantic life is NOT going to the regular stores etc. It's the quirky, fun, weird stuff. That's why I was drawn to your channel. Thanks for your video, Brooke! 🧚‍♀

I romanticised my rental,I finally took the plunge and went outside of my comfort zone and added colour. I now have black walls and ceiling with this beautiful purple boutique wallpaper on one wall,black croc print textured wallpaper on another and I painted my mantel pink. I also took the plunge and got olive green curtains and the pink velvet sofa I've been eyeing up for years I saw on Instagram. Now it finally feels like home after I've lived here for 7 years. I have a gallery wall in my living room of gold frames against the purple paper and some beautiful cat plates I ebayed against the black. Its not fully finished but already I never want to leave my house,not down to anxiety but down to the joy it gives me.i wish we could share photos over the comment section as I'm so incredibly proud of it as I'm disabled but did it all alone including plastering and bricklaying to fix my mantel wall. It's very bold but it's given me the courage to now go on to theme every room. I'm just hoping my landlord likes it 😆

So very true!! My grandma used to say "brighten the corner where you are". She used lovely hand made quilts that she had made, doilies, pretty dishes (unmatched) and "weeds" and flowers from the yard even way back in the 1950s...so I learned early💖🏡😃🌹. Even the gentle way you speak adds beauty. I enjoyed this!

So true! Sometimes weeds are pretty than flowers. A little kid gave me a handful of dandelions the other day. Actually, it was the brightest yellow. I’ve seen all year.

Sitting up on my treetop veranda. My own little Shangri-la, drinking my coffee and looking at all my pretty flowers. I have always intentionally made my home beautiful (all on a dime thrifting). It was important for me to show my girls beauty in the world and you don't need to spend a lot to make it beautiful. Enjoy many, many house plants, a good cup of coffee, books, and sitting in my own home puttering around. And starting a morning with a Mama B video is always special. Vicki here from southwest Texas. I totally agree with the whole pampering ourselves idea. I’m a 75 yr old widow. I’m an only child and my mom had me sewing a dress at age 11. I was so lucky my mom had a decorators heart and we were forever making new drapes or bedspreads and upholstering furniture. I became a mom at age 41 to a boy. I taught him everything my mom had taught me about a beautiful life and cooking a delicious meal. My son and I are 3rd and 4th generation ranchers on property our family has owned since 1914. I have 4 awesome grandkids ages 11 thru 17. As my health hasn’t been the best in the past 5 yrs I find myself not using the beautiful china my parents received when they married in 1934 because I am dropping things more often. I’ve put aside the whole set for my granddaughters and use thrift store China every day. I’ve absolutely the best friends ever. One I’ve been friends since we were 6. The other friends I count as special I’ve been friends for over 20 yrs and another one 40 yrs. I’ve always encouraged them to drink their milk out of their fanciest glass and be their own hero. All of us check on each other with 3 of my friends living 150 miles from me in SA. I’ve shared your channel with them and they love your positive attitude which we all encourage each other to live. Carpenters have just finished building me a she shed/creative cottage. I pick up from roadside and thrift stores furniture which I paint and enhance with gold leaf. Starting Monday I’ll be able to return to my passion. In the meantime carpenters will start remodeling my 250 yr old rock house, making it wheelchair accessible for future. I’m not getting younger🤗 I’m going to be making my bedroom suite my favorite colors and using my painted furniture. My family and friends are supportive in making sure everything will be pretty and calming for me. This video meant so much to me and all the comments by your subscribers feel the same way. I wish all of us cool vintage ladies could spend a weekend somewhere and get to know each other. I do love your Pretty Princess outlook on life. Thanks so much for sharing. I have very few friends myself very few. I’ve tried to make a few new ones but decided they weren’t the ones that fit in my life as they all they had was bad energy and talked bad about other people so I removed them. Brooke yes do what makes you happy in your home. We don’t have the company we used to have because the kids live out of town and so many of the friends we had for many years have all passed away. We have several younger friends but they lead busy lives so I really decorate and do things first of all for me and John to enjoy and then for my KZread family to see and enjoy😊. Happy Friday. I did that too to my dressing table, I had beautiful Regency frames, with old flapper postcards in them, crystal perfume bottles, old rhinestone necklaces, bracelets hanging on everything, and clipped on my cherub mirror on a mirror, pale pink ostrich plumes in a blown glass Italian vase, bunnies, Lefton, and Lenox china trinket dishes everywhere, some from Austria and Bavaria ALL over my bedroom, it was quite beautiful, everything in Charcoal gray, blush and pale pink with splashes of sage and spring green.... I took it all down, too much to dust and I dont have time to spend in my bedroom all day to enjoy, it. Then I did same thing to my living room but it looked too much like a bedroom LOL! so I added heavy tapestries tasseled my drawers hung ornate heavy frames, iron, wanted alot of iron Lions but settled for dogs and mirrors to bounce light for all my plants...... I change it often cause my place it tiny, I saw a Florida estate on one of the channels where they bought all these enormous glass bowls, vases and compotes and stuffed them with large shells, so I did that in there now but a scaled down version, lots of silver, crystal, iron,, coral chunks, Victorian heads and figurines, ornate brass trays, marble, its quite pretty, and I am keeping it like this, looks nice with all my Italian statues chandelier and tapestry rug pillows, my furniture is all Ralph, had it like that for years, you would love it!❤ I can afford to go all out in here because of the size of my place, I just scale back, 1 leather studded caramel color recliner instead of 2, small velvet sofa, leather buttons on my sofa, did that myself, very Ralph, my kitchen is a mixture of Spanish Italian and antique French farmhouse LOL, like you, I need more homes to decorate haha🤣😆🥰 Anyone can do this stuff, its just when you live in small quarters you have to edit and buy wisely, ....wait til you find just the right piece, or you can do what I did and buy until your sick of it, and give it to goodwill. I use all my good stuff daily. my fancy towels, fine sliver flatware, blue flow bunny plates, but I dress in sweats most of the time cause ya gotta be comfortable!👕👖 🤭😋🌻🌿🫖☕🍷🦀🛒🐰❤😎

Good morning Pretty Princess! Great idea for this video. 🌸💕 I thrifted beautiful things to hold my dental routine uglies I use twice a day. So I got a beautiful white delicate bone china tray, a crystal lidded jar for soaking my partial, a pressed glass cruet, a fancy stemmed filigree metal wrapped liqueur glass for the mouthwash and a covered jar that holds home made tooth powder. Very pretty princess and everything is at hand. I just need a bud vase to finish it off! I was so happy when I found the liqueur glass that I told the girl at the counter what I was doing with it. Her reply was “I just use the lid for my mouthwash” Oh well she just doesn’t get how we need to pamper and feel pretty princess sometimes. My beverage station is pretty and like you I have lots of pretty china dishes on a tiered shelf.🌸 Have a great day everyone.

I’m starting to make my house a little more warm and welcoming, I’d love to live in the Cotswolds in England. I romanticize about their decor. I have a lot of hand painted China that my grandma and great aunt painted. I should start using it. We have a lot of dining antiques passed down. From dishes to serve ware to wine glasses. Hello Brooke! What a gorgeous sunrise, thank you for sharing with us. Yes you're the queen 👑 of pretty princess .I love all you do downstairs & up. The new pillowcases give a wonderful pop of color with the flowers. The cabinet out front is just gorgeous! I love all your linens; you truly enhance our lives just watching your videos. I enjoy eating on china. I do use some paper towels but definitely linen is better. I also have linen hankies which are with me always allergy season. Your decor is wonderful & recommendations for others even as you walk through thrift stores rocks. Cut flowers are a wonderful way to be good to yourself. Since the arrival of my kitten 2 yrs ago have had to modify my life so no more cut flowers for now or things that she's drawn to take off with are now put away. Oh I do remember the song lyrics 'me & a dog named boo '. Even your robin appreciates you. Thank you for encouraging us do be kind to ourselves. Thanks so much for sharing. I often wanted to get a kitten or a cat, but I’d like to travel and I don’t think that’s fair to the animal so when I get to the point I don’t travel anymore maybe I’ll adopt an elderly cat and hang out with that.🍃🌸🩷🦢

Maybe acceptance of staying home with my fur babies, adopted a little ole dog too. But my grandson ( 28 will be 29) is getting married & my daughter would like me to attend. Ooh...Wish they'd put it online as other grandkids graduations. Wise choice you're making. 💕

I completely agree with you. Like you I try to make my space as cozy as I can even though I’m usually the only one that enjoys it. I also enjoy doing it on a dime. I think it’s the thrill of the search and find. Please have a beautiful day

Your home is truly pretty princess. Actually one of the most pretty princess I have ever seen. In these troubling times it is very important to have a sanctuary to surround yourself with. I have been working on it for several years now. Still a ways to go as my thrift stores do not have such nice things in them as yours do. I mostly now go to estate sales. The prices are a bit higher but still cheaper and more interesting than new. Have a great day and loves back to you!

71 years old and never had even one piece of China but have been searching for a set or at least plates . My local thrift store doesn't seem to get the pretty China but maybe I can expand my search . You are my favorite KZreadr Brooke! I look forward every morning to watching your videos with my coffee. I also have a set of China that I use for every day. I found it at a garage sale about 10 years ago. I think I only paid $30 for the entire set. I put them in the dishwasher and the microwave and not one chip or crack. They’re definitely made better and the dishes that are made today.

It's winter here in Australia , so warming meals, Candles fairy lights and cosy is the theme right now. I couldn't believe how similar you and I are about making our homes pretty, using beautiful cloth napkins, fresh flowers and to top it off I saw your beautiful statue of the Collie dog. I was thinking it was the same colour as the Collie my dad had when I was a teenager. The dog's name was Lady, she was a treasured pet. Coincidence! Spoiling yourself is so necessary right now more than ever. When I come home I just say ahhhh! Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed it.

I adapted this mindset years ago. My sons were raised using linen napkins, placemats and good glasses when the table was set. I continue practice this with just ME. Because I deserve it. My home is thrifted, and everyone says it looks like it belongs in a magazine. I deserve it.

Oh that’s wonderful. I adapted it 40 years ago now most of my childhood to my mother was pretty good about putting up with China in the napkins too so I guess over 60 years.

What you did with this segment was very helpful to make us feel alive which we all forget with troubles in our life's my husband doesn't understand why l.make the bed and put pretty pillows on the bed but l love them.its my therapist keep clean and pretty and love my indoor plants l put wax. I love how you appreciate your life. You deserve it. Thank you for sharing this. The candelabra by your rose vase is beautiful from what I could see. My home is done mostly in thrifted finds. I love it. It took a long time but it’s pretty much how I like it. I don’t go super frequently because I don’t really need anything anymore and I get attached to what I have and don’t usually find it easy to part with. lol If I was in Toronto, I’d love to sit and have a coffee with you on your downstairs porch and enjoy the shade garden. Don’t worry. I live in Arizona, and it’s not likely. 😂 loves 💕🌹

I loved this video! Lots of wonderful pretty princess ideas! I absolutely love making things look beautiful. A lot of these ideas I already have put into practice specially the fresh bouquet of flowers which I get from a little roadside stand that was my mom‘s favorite.

Good evening Brooke, this video sure brightened my evening (just wasn’t a good day) so thank you so much. Brooke you kinda stunned me a little bit when you was showing your holding hands pictures. My husband lost his baby brother, this past Dec he had a stroke and they had him on a machine until family could come well my husband held his hand and for some reason I took a picture of it, that simple picture means the world to him. Yes,very important to do this. I have crystal glasses,china cups etc very similar They do make having a drink special. Those roses are a beautiful shade of red. I think you have a beautiful mind and heart.

Absolutely they do. That’s why I use them. Daley can’t take them with us. He might as well enjoy every second of them things taste different out of a China cup or a crystal glass.🍃🩷🌸 and why we shouldn’t we wipe our mouth on finest linen we can buy we are queens at the end of all of this.

I so enjoy your videos and your lifestyle. We have a 2nd bedroom that i decorate with pink and as you say "pretty princess" decor from thrift stores. It makes me happy as well, especially the shopping part. Recently I've been having my little granddaughters over and letting them pick an item to take home, they've been picking my cute little bunnies so I have to keep shopping to replace them lol

I feel the same way. And so did my grandmother and mother. It doesn't have to take a lot of money to have a beautiful life. But details count. If you have lovely things, then use them. That's what they were made for. I'm married to a designer and know many others. Their secret is usually in the small details, whether it be a pretty picture or beautiful linens picked up at a thrift store. I enjoy your videos because the things you do and enjoy reflect those things.

I loved this video. Nearly everything I own was pre loved by someone else. If you are looking for greenery to fill in a vase, you might try hosta leaves. I have several types of hosta so sometimes my bouquet is all leaves.

I’m so happy that you enjoyed. It doesn’t matter where it came from matter how it makes you feel when I lived in the Dominican. I used to do a lot of leafy florals because they don’t have a lot of flowers unless you want to pay a lot of money but they have a lot of greenery and people walk in and it’s so beautiful, and a banana leaf.🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃
