    I watched your original video for the Almost Sweet Baby Rays a month ago when I was swimming in extra apricots. I added pureed apricot to your recipe and it was... YUM! Well, last week I entered what I canned up in our county fair and won Reserve Sweepstakes! I love your recipe. Thank you for teaching me so much!

    I have been making your recipe ever since you posted the original video! Love it! A couple of years ago, I had canned some and I had taken a bottle to a cook out. My grand kids all call me Mimi, so I put a label on the bottle that said "Sweet Baby Mimi's" They got the biggest kick out of that!

    So I just made this barbecue sauce today. It was good, but I felt like something was missing so I looked on the back of an Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce bottle and saw that they use "celery seed". I added about 1/4tsp. of celery seeds, and it made the sauce pop. I will be canning a case or 2 of this sauce in pint sized jars for future use. Thanks Kneady Homesteader for the recipe.💖💖💖

    I recently showed my grandson your recipe, he prides himself as a BBQmastee at 22 lol, and out to the grocery he went with list in hand. When he came back he had enough ingredients to feed our entire town. He hit my spice cabinet wide open and made his first batch. I told him he needed to let it simmer for a bit, he did. Making me taste it every few minutes. I think we ate a quart of it just cooking it. Then he started tweeting it and he actually made a pretty good sauce. 2 days later he was back to make another batch and it was even better. Live him to death!

    This sounds delicious! Have you tried to let it bubble at the end for about 5 minutes? The sugar will start to thicken it. The longer it bubbles, the thicker it will get. We do that with fudge sauce if we want that thicker fudginess. If wanted thinner, then just don't let it bubble as much. It should work! I love your channel, and am so glad I found you!

If you buy their organic peanut butter or their brand mayo, the lids will fit on small mouth jars. Heather great timing I love it!❤️ You are wonderful for sharing this I like it a little thinner to spread. Hope you are doing well. You look great too! And those tomatoes you have grown are amazing. We had a bad storm that damaged all our tomato plants. I have tomatoes in my freezer that are just the whole tomato. I was curious if you are going to share how you are going to can some of them from frozen? I think I want a little salsa and just crushed tomatoes when i can them. I still just water bath can right now. Waiting for it to get a little cooler though. I have never ever been disappointed with one of your recipes. You are an amazing cook. I live breath sleep cooking and baking! Lol I absolutely love it all! Thanks again for blessing my channel. I am growing slowly but still grateful. since trying your recipe I no longer buy the store bought - this is even better than Sweet Baby Ray's . I like the smoky taste so I do add the "good" liquid smoke. I never knew there were different kinds until I got a bottle of good stuff - it smells so good you could wear it as perfume. I like mine a little thicker so I just omit the water. Thanks for this newer version.

  • @lynhanna917

    @lynhanna917

    @@rachelmendez7727 it is Cedar House Ultra Premium Hickory Smoke - it is a small bottle 4 oz and was in the 15 - 20.00 range and is very clear, not dark like some of the other brands. Do NOT buy Colgin Liquid Smoke - that stuff is nasty. I live in Canada and bought it in the USA, I can't remember what store - Amazon.com doesn't appear to have it but pinterest showed this. I did try Wrights and it is okay - much nicer than the Colgin (which I threw out it was so bad). Sorry I can't be of more help.

    I added a teaspoon of liquid smoke.......this is good stuff.....not quite as sweet as baby rays which I believe makes it better.....can always add more brown sugar. I used homemade fresh garden tomato's instead of ketchup.....was simmering them down for tomato sauce. They were just about reduced down to sauce when I pulled it out of the pot. ( had added some fresh garlic, onion powder, garlic powder, and basil.) I used white vinegar instead of apple cider vinegar. This stuff is really good.

    Hello Heather, I hope you're doing well. Is there a way of making this a little thicker? Maybe omit the water? Just wondering cause it looked very runny when you poured it. If not, it's ok, I just thought I'd ask before attempting to make it myself. Sweet Baby Ray's is my all time fave. ❤

  • @TheKneadyHomesteader

    @TheKneadyHomesteader

    You can reduce it a bit by slow cooking it down. It wont be as thick as commercial sweet baby rays but it can get a bit thicker. I like my bbq sauce on the thinner side because i like to baste with it and build up layers when i grill with it. 😆 it does thicken a bit too as it stands and cools but just reduce it a bit. 😁
