JTsuits You should read a book called Being Right or Making Money. It’s a great book for learning how to invest in a more strategic way. It’s a bit dry, but definitely give it a read. Take notes if you can. I would avoid bonds even when trying to be more conservative about investing. The returns from them are very low, and they take forever to appreciate. You’re pretty young, so investing in more individual companies might be a good idea, with a few good mutual funds. As you get older, of course you want to invest more in mutual funds and less in individual companies.

Very sound advice.

I was on submarines for 4 years . You get sea pay and sub pay when your on sea duty. And then once your on shore duty you lose both.. If you oboserve you will keep your sub pay while your on shore duty

All this time I thought you were nothing but a pretty face. Damn! You got brains too. I grew up in a small navy town in south Texas and got to know a lot of young navy guys and it seemed that a lot of the younger ones knew how to handle their money. From getting to know them , it was like if they came from nothing they seemed to be more apt to save their pay. Being in the Navy was a good job to them, they were certainly getting better pay than they were back home. Always enjoy your vlogs, keep up the good work.

Hey great vid! I been watching your videos since last April. I am 17 and I joined the Navy the 15th of August as a Nuke and leave the 24th of July. Nukes make e-4 after graduating training. My question is, would it be possible to make Chief in four years starting as an e-4? If not, what are your tips on making rank the fastest? My grandpa served as a boatswains mate in Vietnam and he would be very proud of me if I made Chief.

If your command is a boat, you will always get sea pay. No matter if you are in port or underway. You can look up the sea pay and other special pay

yeah i might have touched on it in my Navy jobs playlist on my channel if you haven't checked that out yet ,, if not i can try and make a more in depth vid soon ,,,, but basically you are aviation paperwork guy lol ,,,, deal with all the paper work for the aircraft and make sure NALCOMIS is up and running properly and you usually work out of maintenance control or QA

The best way for mariners to make money off of their sea voyages is buy gemstones where they are cheap then sell them where they are far more expensive. I had shipmates in SUBRON 15 in Guam who would routinely take mid patrol breaks in Chinhae, South Korea, buy rubies, then sell them back in Honolulu for substantially more money. And of course nothing is easier to smuggles than tiny gem stones because customs for us was a joke and the stones don’t smell to attract dogs.
