That can be understandable because in your 20s, you most likely spent time in solitude studying til you got your Ph.D. That will be why you won't have that much friends. I am sure you had workloads of homework to a point where you barely had time to hangout back then. So as a result, that can be why you are like this today. You probably studied from being a teen up to the point where you reach to 30.

Ahhh!! Finally, I’m on time! You’re my favorite channel! ❤️‍🔥 I, myself, decided I needed to learn to be alone 2 years ago. In that point in my life, I treated my friends as my board of trustees, I ran every single decision past them, since I didn’t trust myself to make any. After spending some time apart and going through the bumps of life on my own, I realized I couldn’t name a single reason why I called them my friends apart from convenience. 2 years, enjoying solitude, and therapy, I now have 3 people I can actually call my friends, with one being my sister. I’ve still got a long ways to go but this video reminded me of something my therapist once told me, “You’re building the foundation for the you 10 years from now”.

Thanks for this video Ruff! I find that I've really become aware of the people around me or, quote on quote, friends I have, especially being still a student and most of my friendships are sadly based on just close proximity from class or CCA allocations (or what one of my close friends have summarised it as-convenience), and learning to put that space between myself and people I know don't truly value me (perhaps I myself don't value them as much as I may think I do) has truly gifted me so much relief and happiness. Life is going to be so long and the only constants are probably just me, myself and I :') And being alone isn't all that miserable at all, it's honestly a pretty fresh feeling :) learning to be alone with myself is definitely still something I'm working on, but I trust I'm getting better and better at it :) your videos are legendary ❤️

this is the best way someone has explained friendships. not all people are your "friends", you just see the often and happen to know them a bit. it was hard at first to let go of the people i called friends, but it was definitely worth it. we still talk time to time, because why would i hate them, but like you said, you need to have similarities to have friendships so I went my own separate ways. Also thank you so much for your videos Ruff, I really like how unfiltered and realistic your videos are. I definitely wish I saw them sooner. Keep making videos from your own mindset, it's hard to find realistic videos like these. Oh yea, and congrats on 60K!

I truly loved this video because it reminds me so much of myself when I was in my early twenties, going back to college and trying to figure things out. I had realized then how I was surrounding myself with people who were like sheep (sorry friends that I don't see anymore 😅). But what was interesting was that I found I was playing a part, and when they saw the real me it would upset them, like, "that's so no you." And I couldn't help but think, "Isn't it though?" So I let them go and got to know me. The best part of it all was that I got to learn interest that I personally enjoyed without worrying about their judgement. I learned about music, movies, books, activities, etc that I enjoyed and fulfilled me. That's when I discovered self-improvement and just getting to know myself, what I wanted, needed and what I was capable of. Not the stuff that was okay with them. I learned to love myself and basically treat myself like someone I loved and adored. I treated myself with love and compassion, I learned about my interests and rooted myself on when I struggled. The exponential growth and happiness that I experienced in those years that I was alone is something I cherish to this very day. I used to joke that the best way to get through a break up is to just date yourself. I was so happy with who I was when alone but I felt ready to date. Mostly to find a friend, someone who could understand me. I wanted THAT friend. 😄 When that someone came into my life that wanted to tag along in my journey I happily welcomed them. This year we made 20 years together, and we have 2 kids and we're pretty happy. Happy together or when we take time for ourselves or to be with friends. Finding others that can love you in a way you didn't know was possible is a wonderful source of inspiration and a blessing. But ultimately, no one will love you better than you can love yourself. ❤

tbh i hate socialising, i only socialise because i have to, im tired of acting like jokes people make are funny when i literally want to straight face every joke my friends make. ive had enough, its kind of like forced friendships i guess, when i chose to stay alone back in grade 7, i got in a lotta trouble with my parents. on my report card the teachers said that they were concerned and stuff for me. the real reason is, i just cant be bothered hanging out with these toxic people, id rather be alone but now i have no freaking option ;(. i constantly take bathroom breaks to escape from these people and just to rest my face from that fake laughing shii.

You signed up to make your schedule so busy you will barely have time to hang out. You are aiming for a Ph.D. Be prepared to have loads of homework in college because Ph.D is the highest degree compared to Masters Degree, Bachelor's Degree and Associate's Degree. Once you start that journey, you will eventually be prepared to be out of touch with your friends. This kind of college life normally changes everybody because you are not expected to go back to high school. Part of being successful is not to be homesick on wanting an old life back. So if you reach your educational goals but feel lonely in the top, people will look at you like wow, you are a mess. But if you are happy with changes, that counts as a success. I mean all your friends do not need to share the same success as you. Even if one of your friends got a job after getting an associate's degree and is happy about it, that counts as a success. Not all need to be fully educated like you to be counted as success.

Trust me, even best friends will turn out to be fair-weathered friends when your situation changes. Don't take anyone for granted except yourself and your parents. Remember that people only treat you as a friend for their own benefits, be it material gains, connections, or companionships. It's all about them, not you. So enjoy friendships superficially but don't take it seriously for granted like you do with your parents.

I love your channel sm. I'm trying to work on myself now and with that obvi comes a pretty different youtube feed, but after watching quite a few videos, nothing feels as real or as achievable or as genuine as the stuff you put out. Also, on the topic of the video, I have some friends that I'm either not that close with, yet still hang out around a lot or honestly don't really like. But dropping them isn't as easy as it sounds. They r in all my classes and I see them during sport as well , I don't know how to communicate w them about the issues I have about our relationship. How do u disconnect in this situation? Love your stuff ❤

I do have some friends with whom I don't relate a lot and they do have some bad habits which I don't like but whenever I'm with them I try to learn from them. All the good things they possess&all the things they are good at which I'm not but I try to I learn how they do it and try to throw the negative part out.yeah it also means I avoid them if the bad side is high up on the scale

Yeah you're cool man. Post covid i had 1.5 yrs left in school.. by then the pre covid class mostly dissipitated so there were like few people whom i vibed with and i basically did not make friends w anyone. Now i feel regretful for not enhancing my social skills, but i also feel kinda normal about it cuz that was prolly a reason i did well in school and those friendships would pretty much have fallen apart by now. Idk whats wrong or right
