@@winxwest2964 I feel like none or almost none of the green and yellow tasks are randomly selected. Some people's personalities fit some tasks while others don't fit those tasks. Having someone get a task they aren't comfortable with doing won't be fun to watch.

I've just realised, but If scar succeeded in fighting and killing Gem, he could've single handedly saved the whole server, unintentionally playing the hero for the session.

There’s something so perfect about how Gem went for Scar as an easy kill, but instead ended losing more health than she dealt and leaving defeated, especially since exactly one season ago, Scar was the butt of every PvP skill joke while Gem being the infamous top dog And of course she loses so little health over so many later confrontations from anyone else, only for Scar to accidentally kill her in the end.

It was intentional, their is some clear choices in who gets what task. They try to give you a task that would be interesting to see you do, is somewhat in character but wouldn't instantly get you called out by Yellows. But they restricted her far to much for a goal that hard. Grian and Etho's task last session was blatently designed to hurt people as this series has progressed much more slowly then any other Life series. UNFORTUNATELY it had the opposite effect and killed off team red. So new plan... make the mega Boogieman. But the requirement to involve the previous victim in the next kill, plus this seasons use of Enchants made Gem's task way harder then expected (possibly the hardest normal task issued so far, excluding maybe the one that asked someone to lie for the entire session) as it meant that spreading out wasn't really an option. Thus why they ignored that requirement in the end. Still it achieved its purpose. Gem may have failed but the age of Greens is over, and a new generation of Reds has been born.

can we appreciate just how slippery Scar was, the notorious Scar who dies at random things has become a PVP champ

That bit where she tries to recruit Scar first is a great display of why I think he's a strong contender to win this season. She went in with 28.5 hearts, and gave up at 10.5 (Not accounting for +4 from TWO Golden Apples). This man plays the lovable goof, but he knows his stuff, and he can SHOOT.

5am Pearl is an absolute beast

Grian’s “Spawn an Enderman” strategy would’ve actually worked well, seeing as Gem was staring right at it. If Etho hadn’t stared at it (he was warned by Grian), Gem could’ve been killed due to her low hearts. I have a feeling it will be used more in the future.

This should have been a hard task at least, imo it shouldn't have been a task at all. For all the previous sessions I watched like 5+ POVs because seeing all the different tasks is so fun, but this time they all get the same task. It takes away from the entertainment value, it's basically just an excuse to close the server faster

@@neoncat6820exactly, thats the point. the life series has always been a miniseries, it was said by grian at the start of 3rd life. initially it only happened when seasons of hermitcraft or empires ended as kind of like an in between filler smp, but at the end of the day creators struggle to manage playing so many smps at once and life series seasons have to end after usually 5-10 sessions

This whole episode I've been imagining Gem as this sort of Cottagecore Necromancer. All about death and destruction, but still pink and pretty. I'd say this aesthetic suits her quite well. Also, can't leave her Red skin unnoticed - it's simply awesome!

Pretty much every time this topic comes up in a YT comments section I always say the same thing; Gem is outwardly very much a sweet innocent cottagecore girl that you can't help but go "Aww" at just from meeting her. On the inside however she is just this relentless, remorseless killing machine who views mercy as being for the weak. It's like a Terminator wearing a fluffy woollen jacket.

scott had mentioned his plan to let martyn kill him in exchange for a future IoU earlier (since he was on half a heart from the wither and martyn gets 10 hears for killing him so he felt it was better to do this than die to like a mob or a berry bush) so she was probably expecting it.

I definitely think the main reason Gem didn't just immediately kill Scott was that she knew that the two of them would have easily taken down the entire server before they even reached the break 😂

@@thoughtspeaker8705 that does seem possible, but if that was the case it feels like a bit of a misplay to me. Being turned while green and on half a heart seems like a much better option for Scott than having half the server chasing him round trying to take 30 of his hearts and drag him all the way down to red. It's also possible that it was an intentional play to try to take Scott down (he is historically the best player in the series and therefore her biggest competition) while preserving her alliance with him, but I don't think Gem is that conniving.

​@@Braiba​ Since the Life series is "half game skills, half social skills" (as said by Scott), not teaming up with Scott or even Martin at the beginning was Gem's biggest misplay. She and/or Scott absolutely could have enticed Martin to kill the yellows and reduced their workload by half.

I love how the modest cottagecore players always evolve into the most brutal warlords in the server

Scar really pulled out his “Hot Guy” persona in those fights haha. He’s gotten really good with bows

I just have to imagine how this would have gone if Gem had asked the Scotts at the beginning "do you want to help with my task", cause I feel like they probably would have gone for it XD

Not to mention that Scott helped Cleo and BigB make an escape, if he was in it they wouldn't have any escape and cleo wouldn't have drowned but killed. It would be everyone against Grian

I came from Cleo's perspective and this is such a good task but so hard to win you did so well!

Oh, so THIS is why Skizz was all giggly and impressed with Gem on Tuesday’s phasmo stream, nice!

I would argue that the Watchers were trying to hard to instigate chaos last time which resulted in most of the reds being taken out.

Last week I looked at tab and was like "okay, three reds dead. Everyone else seems pretty chill, series should last another 3-4 episodes it looks like, and then this episode proceeds to dash those hopes with you infecting every green and yellow name in your path

The hunts to turn people into boogies is giving me similar vibes to the hunts for the last greens/yellows in limited life, it's great

This is probably the best perspective to watch first. It's complete chaos. Gem doesn't even comment when the heart foundation burns down. This is amazing.

I now understand why Gem lost her voice after this recording session 😂

I was so worried how long this series will go on. This task shortened it by like 3 episodes.

@@skyellama8374 I don't think this is scripted per se. It's more like if there are not enough people who died, we play this. As for who gets it up to the randomizer. Kinda funny considering how Only Grain and Cleo managed to avoid the curse. Afaik, both of them have never been Boogy.

Incredible that the reason gem failed is basically their obsession with scar and the fact that the man DID NOT DIE until there were like 4 people after him. After his death people just started dying like flies.

@@falsnamae3511 part of what made it hard was probably his own task tbh. He was running around between everyone's bases trying to annoy literally everyone, which makes it really hard to keep track of him lol

That just explains why it took a while to get started. It failed because the last three survivors were just too slippery.

Saw Gem saying that Scott sent her a picture of her standing right in Skizz's face after this session in a Tango stream the other day and she said she was almost certainly screaming at him, I now understand why lmao Edit - just remembered it wasn't a Tango stream, it was the Phasmo stream with G.I.G.S. That happened later the same day as the recording session, my bad

There are so many great moments in this session but Scar continuing to flee in terror after getting killed has got to be a highlight. It's even funnier from his perspective too

Everybody: Ethos washed up, he couldn’t even kill Scar. Gem: Lesson, Scar ain’t called that for no reason.

Hotguy is killing it. Scar is really great at pvp. So innocent yet deadly.

Well Gem was the only player this season not in last life so her getting the curse first makes sense

Dramatic increase in pace these last two sessions, which is great! But I hope next one is quieter (despite the now huge number of reds) so we can see how all of the recent events affect relationships on the server.

Crazy to see Scar nearly against gem thanks to luckily still being green up until now and his op bow

We're all agreed that Gem was born for this task, right?

This one episode demonstrates everything that makes the Hermitcraft Crew so great. If this exact context was put into any other SMP, this wouldn’t have worked nearly as well as this did. Great job!

Man, going after scar first turned the fatal mistake as he did so much damage and finished what he started with a stray arrow. This is the best twist of the session.

I love how Scar said "Should we bury Joel by Lizzie?" when Joel was trying to kill Cleo.

42:26 that betrayal was so dark, and Gem's turn to the dark side is like Anakin becoming Darth Vader! 😢

I love that after she finishes the book. She looks over at Scott and Impulse CLEARLY BOTH green. Knowing they have to die lol.

"stop in the name of a task" should be like a safe word for such an event as a boogeyman curse

This is the session that solidified to me that the biggest thing missing from this season was a weekly Boogeyman

Spoiler alert . . . . Isnt it kinda poetic that cleo caused gem to lose a shared (in some way) rival task again (grian is there too i guess). If i would get a nickel for every time that happened... Gem was really close too

THIS IS ARGUABLY THE BEST SEASON NOW. Last Life used to be but 😔 I also like how throughout the seasons, we witness Scar's gradual descent to insanity. It's the best

that being said though, having Gem in this season was absolutely phenomenal

Gem's red skin is so pretty but so terrifying at the same time

How this task was able to get so out of hand amazes me. They figured it out exactly by the 2nd-3rd kill and yet never called anyone out, stopping it.

Watched your last episode with my dog, my sister, our family hours before she passed, we were laying in bed together, gonna watch this episode with the grief still in me (it will never leave), this in a way is comforting. I hope your doing well Ellie
