i decided to do a challenge based off of my spotify playlist! there's 115 songs in there, and every day i'll make a piece based on one of the songs! it's great, because i dont go a day without listening to music, and plus, itll keep me focused. i decided to do that, because lately i've just been listening to music and going for it, trying to choose colors that match the mood of the song or how it makes me feel. im really excited.

THIS IS REALLY SMART.

I like how you actually tell us to challenge ourselves and to limit ourselves to​ certain things and different tips rather than just "Practice." Of course, practice is important, but have somebody say something else rather than just that is really relieving.

I have always struggled with drawing hands, so I've set aside 30 days where I draw and practice hands. Challenges like that help me a lot too. I enjoy seeing your artwork, please keep sharing it with the world!

i stopped drawing for about 6 years because i didn't like the results. but leigh inspired me to start again too!! now i've been drawing & painting every single day for the past month!!

I'm not an artist, but I'm a writer. Don't ask why I like watching artists do their thing, it's probably talent envy. Anyway, I'm thinking of starting a daily writing challenge and then posting maybe a best line or something on my blog. Thanks for the idea/inspiration.

Deidra Alexander I’m a writer/artist as well and I find it relaxing to watch others art videos I do often look for writing prompts or art prompts and mesh them together

I actually draw/paint everyday and never get tired or without ideas, so maybe I could do something I'm kinda afraid of and is the inktober challenge. Last year I didn't do it because I wasn't that good with ink but I think this year is my year...this is it guys don't ever stop if you want to improved and try things you never did before or you're scared of because the results can be AMAAAZING💫

I think these were very great tips! Like, they were super practical and not overbearing like some of the other draw every day videos I've seen. I've been drawing almost daily (sometimes every other day or every few days) since April, and I've seen such a vast improvement in my art and I'm blown away by it. I even looked at a drawing I did recently of Stitch from when I drew it in November to the one I drew the other day and holy carp there was such an improvement! I tried to challenge myself at the beginning of the year to draw every day, but that just wasn't working and I wasn't inspired. I don't know what changed or how it happened, but now I find myself craving to draw and it's a fantastic feeling. Seeing those improvements also really helps and I'm so glad to see it.

I was watching your videos and suddenly this different person, with long dark hair shows up…the same voice with a totally different appearance and even a different personallity (at least from the one I’ve created in my mind). What a transformation in 6 years! Nowadays you look more confident and authentic! By the way, I love your art and videos. I have so much fun watching you. Great advice I've really learned to stay in my comfort zone on bad days it helps so much. As kind of an extension on that I find it best not to throw to many challenges at myself at once and sort of combine a challenge with something I'm comfortable with. For example when I first tried to do outdoor/location sketching I tried drawing moving people with materials I wasn't familiar with and a new sketchbook, I ended up hating my sketches and just not having a good experience at all. The next time I went out I headed for a quite place in the woods and drew still flowers in a style and material I felt competent with, I ended up liking my sketches a lot better and feeling so much more motivated to try again. It was enough of a challenge that I didn't feel bored but not so much that I felt overwhelmed and hated the experience.

I actually just binged all your videos over the last week of insane art work I had, and now I'm so inspired. I really want to do a 365 challenge as well. It's been great seeing how you've approached it (I've followed your progress on IG since last summer), and I think the way you've made it work for you is really cool. I draw most days but I do let my school work take time away from personal sketchbook time, so I think this might be a good way to hold myself accountable and make time for myself, which I need. Thanks for all the inspiring videos you make, and your general sweet enthusiasm!

I love this making my goal and skills lists right now! I have been doing some kinna drawing every days since last July and I hate the I don't know what to draw feeling, I think the lists will definitely channel my efforts.

I now watch these videos anytime I'm struggling with my 365 drawing challenge, and it's so helpful! It's a nice reminder to draw what I like, check my skill list and goals list (BEST tip btw), and it empowers me to draw cats if I'm just sad. Thank you!

I'm getting a new sketchbook and I really want to just do more art! I think this challenge is fantastic, I think a month is more realistic for me personally but a year would be amazing. Thank you for sharing this... I feel inspired :)

I can totally relate, sometimes you just don't know what to draw and you need those constraints. Inktober has really helped me and I want to keep going with drawing everyday. I’m a college student and drawing/painting is my favorite hobby. Its frustrating knowing that if I practiced I could improve but there’s just so little time to work on my skills. Yesss, it's true in so many parts of my life!

I've found that if I use the word drawing everyday I tend to lock up because it's a lot of pressure but if I tell myself it's being creative or art journaling everyday then I inspired me to be free in my work. Sometimes a change in vocabulary can do a lot for you too 😁💛✨

what about when you're following many artists and start to feel low because of that? to me it kinda prevents creating my own way of drawings because the way they draw has been imprinted in my mind :/

I know what you mean! I think it's normal to build off what you've seen. I found that the more I drew, the more I drifted away from the art styles I had seen, and it gradually turned into a more distinct style? If that makes sense.
