I owned a henna hair salon in Hawaii for 12 years and I used to put clients under the dryer to expedite the process :) You can get a Conair hard shell "bonnet dryer that you can sit on your table. An hour to an hour and a half under the dryer. Your hair looks fabulous!

I have been using henna for probably 4 or 5 years. I’m a natural red/auburn haired person. I was always called a redhead, but now I have white hairs which drives me nuts so I use henna. I actually put it on my damp hair and that works very well, because otherwise my hair is too dry since it’s coarse and wavy/curly. I don’t usually wait to put it on. I mix it with some coffee and filtered water, a couple tsp. apple cider vinegar with “the mother” and that’s it. I cover my hair with a plastic shopping bag to keep it moist and use an alligator clip to close it behind my head. I typically leave it in 2 hours, some times more but not longer than 3. I wash out with conditioner, then don’t wash again for 4 to 5 days. It will run slightly each time you wash it. If you have gray or white, it needs to be done once a month usually. Don’t make it runny. It should be thick but smooth, it may drip a bit, just wipe with a paper towel. I use natural red by the Henna Guys, but today I’m using auburn mixed with natural red which makes me nervous. My hair looks more red than hers, because it’s my natural color. Either way, people compliment it. If you have normally straight, non frizzy hair, it will stay like that. If you have my texture, you’ll still need products that fight frizz. It doesn’t take it away. I do feel like the products I use shorten the life of the henna, but I don’t want frizzy hair. If you use it for a while, you’ll get the hang of it. I forgot to mention that I use gloves and just slap some on each section and only do the roots. I’ve only ever done the whole head once. Use a comb with a tail to section hair. Don’t mix in metal bowls. Use glass and a spatula. That’s about all I can offer anyone from my own experience. Good luck!

@@milliem8051 yes, brighter than the rest but the color calms down after a day or two. Great video. I will say that henna doesn't HAVE to be an all day thing. I have been using henna for a decade. I make a year's worth of henna at a time and package and freeze it. Every third Friday when I leave for work I pop a frozen batch in the fridge to thaw. In the evening when I get home I shower and wash my hair. Apply henna to my roots, wrap in plastic. Then I have dinner and watch a movie. After two hours I rinse, condition and then brow dry. My hair grows so fast and I am so gray I have to do it every three weeks. So I have it down pat.

The most perfect video about henna .. Thank u .. U r awesome with every way.. But only one thing as an half arabian and we r so so used to henna as a traditional .. Just ii know that it will b so hard to let it dry on head on air instead u cover it up .. But actually this is the right original way to let it be uncovered .. Henna it doesn't work as hair dye about heating although the chemical hair dye happens with oxidation process need to be done on air too .. Just henna is still a grass .. Let it dry uncovered will stain stronger and deeper watery don't achive stable color in henna.. Exactly as the drawing on skin with henna if u just leave it dry on air will works and if it still wet on skin it won't stick and will fade for sure .. And don't b afraid how harder it will be .. But it will b washed anyway .. Just patient anyway the whole henna taking 4 to 5 days to be perfectly done .. Just make them more six .. Not big deal 😆👯

I used this once years ago and never ever again. Yours is beautiful, I love it but mine came out a very weird rusty brassy color and I couldn't ever get rid of it, it took months so never ever again, I wish it wasn't like that because I love the idea that it's all natural and I don't think anything else is really natural, some may not be as bad as others but still not really natural. I would say that the next best thing to henna for being all natural is one called naturgin but I'm not totally sure even with that one.

Dubai Girl 😄 oh yes it is, and she is not kidding about how nice it looks in the sunlight. I left it on over night, about 8 or 9 hours. Oh, and before I applied it to my hair I let the henna stay in a covered bowl for about two hours so the dye could release.

Great video, finally all the information I needed! I have brown hair (a bit dark) and I am thinking of henna, but I am very worried that it will turn really red and I dont want that! I am aiming for exactly the color you have! I bought completely natural henna (red) and the instructions say use only lemon and leave the mix for 10 to 24 hours! And then exactly the process you did. So I am a bit confused on what to follow, and what to avoid if I dont way too red results

Personally, I have found lemon creates a much brighter red. Heat activates the henna color. If you don't use heat, you might need to wear it many, many hours, but I've never tried it that way. I always use warm or hot water to get the color process started before applying.

Hi! Please help! I accidentally used a metal whisk to mix my henna together and just realized I wasn’t supposed to! Did I just ruin my dye or will it still work? I’m doing a strand test to check it out but what do you think? I have it in a plastic bowl but used the whisk to mix it

Love your hair color here -- so vibrant and stunning, and really enjoyed this video! I have a question for you --- I have some leftover Lush Caca Noir & Brun. I loved the way they made my hair feel, but I am looking at some Henna Color Lab and also Light Mountain and wondering if I can mix a shade from one of these brands with my Lush dyes... in hopes of getting the conditioning benefit from the Lush Caca (lol) but also to get more of the color I am going for? I don't want to waste that Caca but don't want to go through the hassle as I didn't love the color they produced. My hair is medium-dark brown with some residual warmer tones from my last Caca Brun use as well as natural highlights from the sun. I want a cooler shade, knowing the light auburn hue in my ends will still shine through whatever I layer on top. Do you think this will work or should I avoid mixing henna products?

In my own personal experience, Noir gave a dark brown with a slight cool tone. I would definitely do a test section of hair first if you're unsure about the results. I don't see there being a problem with mixing hennas in general, it's just harder to know how it will turn out on your hair.

Once the plastic shower cap is on you can speed up the process by blow drying for 5 to 10 mins and adding heat that way. I find it really intensifies the red tones by adding direct heat to my head.

It's speeds up the dye release. Makes the color more vibrant. Just bought the Light Mountain Bright Red for the first time and love it. I find it way less drying than other brands. (Even the Henna Sooq Red Raj which is supposedly the best.) I think i prefer the Light Mountain bright red. I prefer more Coppery tones to a wine red and i found the Henna Sooq too dark for me. I'm used to copper toned henna. Anyways very informative you covered it all and i enjoyed your video immensely. Thanks

Great video! Thank so much for posting it! :) I'm "rehab'ing" my fine hair after trying to go from my very dark brown to dark blonde (tried to blend with my grays that are coming in more now). My hair got really damaged through the process so I took it back to brown. I haven't colored in about 5 months so I have about 4 inches of natural growth (30% gray, rest is very dark brown/black). I'm ready to try henna and cut out the damage from chemicals. I think I'm going to do a mix of dark brown and mahogany from Light Mountain. Good combo? Btw, how do you get the henna off your face, neck and hands after coloring? Thanks again! xo

I used mahogany or burgundy once (sorry I can't remember which) and I loved it! I hope you like your results. Sometimes the henna does stain my skin, but if you wipe it off quickly, it isn't a big deal. You can always apply something to your face as a barrier to help prevent staining. You could use a little coconut oil around your hair line, for example.

@@bayareababe I like how it turned out. My hair was dark brown so it didn't get as red looking as I thought it would but I've been told the more you do it the better it starts looking. So I plan to dye it again very soon! It looks very nice in the sun. It covered my greys, those spots are obviously a little brighter than the rest of my hair. I didn't like the color for the first few days. But around the 4th day it became a richer red, that I do like. Hoping it's even richer red the 2nd time I dye it!

I'm just wondering how often would you say roughly you put more henna on your head? As some people have said you can't put more on henna on your henna hair etc... Mine has gone to dark for me (dark brown) , only done it yesterday and I'm now relieved that it should calm down a bit! Lol... I wanted more of a chestnut colour buuut nope haha... So I was wondering how long you reckon I should leave my hair before I put a lighter henna on it? Or if you think it would even take? I've been watching so many videos and not gonna lie this is probably the most helpful one I've found so far! So thank you x

Henna only colors over your hair, so putting a lighter color henna on already darkened hair, isn't going to make your hair any lighter.
