Hi Patty, thanks for the video! My best friend s a nurse and she gave me some Arnica cream for my bruising. We are in our late 50s. I am extremely fair and have always had easy bruising/thinner skin. The Arnicare brand is THE BEST. The more percentage of Arnica the better in the cream. You have to be faithful with it and be gentle when you use it. I have not yet gotten the "ugly bruises" yet, but I appreciate you talking about aging. Thank you so much for your videos!

I’ve been using Kiss nails for over five years. I learned, since my hands are in water a lot, that too much moisture was getting under parts of my nails causing fungus to grow. I began applying a thin coat of hard as nails clear polish before applying the nail. This was a great barrier against moisture and my nails GOT STRONGER! The nails are easier to remove with the thin coat of clear polish. A big plus!

Glad you’re letting folks know about arnica. You’re right, the earlier you use it the better. My dermatologist has used it on me immediately after injections. Also, I had my varicose veins treated in one leg and it was just awful with terrible bruising and swelling. Wasn’t looking forward to the other leg but a nurse friend told me that her Dr recommended using the homeopathic arnica tablets before and right after the procedure. I read up on this and found this is commonly ordered prior to cosmetic surgeries to prevent bruising. The second leg procedure was a breeze with almost no bruising, swelling or discomfort. Glad to have learned this tip. Thanks for sharing all your tips and experience.💕

Patti, Several years ago I was watching one of your videos and I Loved your nails. I watched you apply them and I was hooked. I’ve been wearing the Kiss nude nails ever since and yessss, they stay on so well! You also inspired me “years ago” to want to do my makeup again. After my husband passed, I retired and moved in with my daughter to keep her newborn while she and her husband worked. I kinda lost myself and honestly stopped caring about “me”. I found your channel and like I said, you were such an inspiration. I began to care about “me” again and I was able yo get back on track. I owe you for that. I just Love you and I think you are absolutely gorgeous!!! From a forever subscriber and friend!! ❤️🌸

QUIK TIP: I purchased 3 packet of the color I prefer. My nails are petite. I sorted and labeled all of them in a pill sorter according to each finger, left hand and right hand. More than one nail size can fit on more than one finger, too. Then discarded the rejects. When I am ready to do my nails, no need to piddle around with that. Thank you for all you do for women.

I have a different take on “ugly bruises “. I find them beautiful and nostalgic. My grandmother always had them as a result of her work on her rancho here in So Cal. Milking cows, gardening and collecting eggs. Then my mother started getting the same bruises from her work as a volunteer ESL teacher with young boisterous children. And now I have them. Each time a new one appears on my 72 year old arms, I smile thinking of these wonderful women who came before me 💕

I get all kinds of bruises and scratches from gardening. I also just clip my nails short W/O polish or tips. I love the look of a well manicured hand (love to watch these videos too) but I’m over caring about it too much. My hands go “naked” with just SPF protection and I focus on what my hands DO opposed to how they LOOK.

I feel like you do. My beautiful tiny Mama, had the prettiest little hands to me. She always tried to keep her nails up, on her own...never at a salon. She ate healthy, so her nails were healthy, and pretty. She always had bruises, and they were usually from her hard work of love, of taking care of people who couldn't care for themselves. I look at my hands now, and I see my Mama's hands. I just hope I can do half or what she did for others...the Kindest, sweetest, Soul Ever. A Wonderful Woman. Now when I get a bruise, I think of my Sweet Mama. She earned every one of them.

Patti I’m an old nurse and I can attest to Arnica speeding up bruise resolution. The other thing I was going to mention was Aloe Vera gel refines skin beautifully but you’ve found a great product that has both! The ONLY skin product that actually has a genuine effect on skin is tretinoin, better known a Retin-A. Tretinoin “resets” damaged skin cells and will reduce fine lines and wrinkles, but once you stop using skin will age as before. I’m trying to avoid sun damaged areas on my face from turning into skin cancers and it’s worked on 90% of problem spots. I’ve increased the strength and hope for the best for a larger spot on my cheek. I make my own tinted moisturizer and it’s very easy to do. All any moisturizers do is prevent trans epidermal water loss (TEWL) there’s no OTC magic ingredient that will that will have any lasting effect. I melt 4oz shea butter, 1.4oz avocado butter, and 1 tsp beeswax in a double boiler. Mix to combine and let cool. I use my stand mixer and add things I know my skin likes (Vit E, Rose water, Rosehip oil, Carrot Seed oil, Aloe Vera, Frankincense, etc) and blend for 5-10 minutes. To tint Amazon sells mica powders that I mix to match my skin tone. I also add Zinc oxide and Titanium for sun protection. There’s no unpronounceable and potentially dangerous chemicals to worry about and I know the ingredients are organic. One thing to mention too, avocado oil, unlike most other oils actually penetrates through all the layers of the skin and is a very effective moisturizer. I found all my information on NIH.gov website btw

Great information! Thank you- I’m a retired nurse as well. I’ve been using tretinoin on my face, neck and chest for over 30 years. I’m amazed at the amount of people who do not use it. I’ve always used retinols on my hands but a few months ago switched to tretinoin. It is the only product that will reverse photoaging and to a degree chronological aging of the skin. NIH did a wonderful study back in 2006 heralding the wonders of tretinoin:)

I'm smack dab in the middle of my 50s and I am so happy to find your channel. I have always been in to makeup & beauty, but nothing prepped me for the changes i have been experiencing with my skin & such the last few years..and just having to tweak little things to either make them more flattering, or easier to apply, as well as just the fun suprises -instead of wakign up to a pimple it is wakign up to a new spot, a vein And, as a Southerner, your delivery and voice is also a comfort to me--I guess it is the familarity of it; like you could have been one of my customers in the makeup department at Belk. Have a wonderful new year!

I also get the ugly bruises on my forearms and hands. Mine aren't purple. They are red! They look as though blood has pooled beneath the skin. I often don't know how I got them but other times I will just bump myself a bit and the next day there is a painful looking injury but it doesn't hurt as a real bruise does.

12:39 I watched this video some time ago, and immediately ordered the Kiss nails. I used to wear acrylics, but I hated having to go to the salon every 2 weeks, and eventually having to have them removed and a new set applied. I finally pit these on yesterday, and I'm amazed! It took me maybe 10 minutes and my nails look better than having them done in the salon. I'll be thrilled if they last 2 weeks😊. It feels so nice to have my hands look so attractive again. The other thing I like about it is I hate when my nails grow out under the nails, and with these, I can clip them back each time I do a new set. Thank you so much for sharing this product. It's so enjoyable to watch your videos!

Oh my, at 85+ I'm experiencing all of these problems. I invariably get a bruise before a special occasion. I think arnica works the best but for a quick camouflage I use Pixie under eye concealer with pretty good results. I have small slender hands that never did have abundant fat pads. Now there is just very thin skin covering bones and veins. 😕 Being very freckled I love Sally Hansen for both my legs, hands, and arms. When I worked I even used it under my hose to help hide all my spots. So thankful for products that work and for your videos filled with helpful tips. Thank you! ❤️

My idea of a "manicure" is to cut my nails short with clippers once a week, no polish! However, when applying foundation, I put a pump on the back of my hand as my palette. Any leftovers get divided between both hands, then a constant reapplication of SPF. Also a good spot for any leftover Renova at night. Hands are such naughty tattlers about the long life we've lived!

Hi Patti, great video. Those horrible bruises I get them often. I have been diagnosed with purpura…I saw Dr. Dray on KZread she recommended AmLactin cream. I use it morning and evening…it has strengthened my skin. The skin on my forearms was paper thin. This cream has helped strengthen my skin. It is firmer. It has an unpleasant smell when you first put it on but, goes away in a few minutes. Since I’ve been using AmLactin the bruises are much smaller. I get them on my shins too.I want to thank you for making this aging process easier on all of us. Best always to you and yours!!!

Years and years ago I got a sample of Dermablend leg and body foundation and found it to be just perfect for hiding freckles and marks on my legs. It made my skin look so smooth. You are a doll! I'm was a professional nail tech for over 10 yrs. I absolutely loved doing nails, and giving pedicures was so much fun. Unfortunately, thanks to a kink in my neck, which unbeknownst to me was cutting off everything in my hands and arms. Unfortunately, the damage was already done long before we discovered this. It hindered my ability to perform accurately and timely 😢. 3 yrs ago, while working as a medical receptionist, one of my coworkers' nails always looked so good, and the look changed often. I asked her where she got her nails done. She then proceeds to introduce me to the modern version of glue on nails. I was in Nirvana again! I enjoy being able to do my nails again. Kiss, believe, is one of the best on the market that doesn't overcharge. I'm 54, I have those bruises all over my arms, and in weird random places all over my body. My dermatologist tells me that my CA skin doesn't play well with this Utah climate. My skin also tears very easily, crazy how much it tears 🥴. You're a genius. That technique for putting on self tanner is brilliant. I also love jergens lotion self tanner. I'm going to show this to my mum. She hates the way her hands look. I'm not thrilled anymore with mine as I continue to age. You are beautiful inside and out!

As always, you look radiant, Patti. At 53, I'm just starting to see the skin on my forearms beginning to thin, and all of a sudden, veins are visible where they never were before (as a side note, lab draws always had to be from my hands because my arm veins were so hard to get, now they stand right out). I have been using the same Kiss Everlasting French nails for many many years, after I too decided no more salon visits. I will sometimes do my own gels, but the Kiss are prettier and last just as long. I usually will put a top coat over mine to make them extra shiny & protect them.

Hi Patti, I'm 67 and have the same ugly bruising. Just like you, the slightest bump from a cabinet door or knocking my hand against something results in bruising. I recently found some Arnica cream that I had left over from a cosmetic procedure, and it does speed up the healing. If I'm at home all day I will re-apply the cream about 3 times. I like the product applicator that you have and the fact that it's a clear gel. Our skin does get thinner as we age and it is so annoying. Another lotion that I use is by Gold Bond and it has retinol in it. If I use it everyday, my skin doesn't look dry and crepey. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

I'm with you as far as the bruises. I take a baby aspirin every day which can cause a bruise to show up easily. One day I happen to look at the back of my leg and I had the biggest bruise. Boy that took almost a month to go away. No clue how I had gotten it either..lol If I do get one I usually try to put some ice on it. It does help the healing process if you do it right away.

I agree that you look beautiful all the time, hair, face, hands, your jewellery, watch, and then more than all of that, the beauty from within. The sweet honesty of conveying to those who see, hear and get it about, as you appropriately called it the aging process. The fact that you show and tell, how women can look better, no fake but better which lifts our spirit and makes us feel better. Even a little blush, lipstick, eyeshadow perks me up. This morning I did my tummy crunches in bed. I squeeze my bottom and tights pull my tummy in, put one hand under my head, the other between my chest and tummy an do what I call "Minnie tummy crunches". I do many till I can't. I do punches straight across my chest. This is for arms and chest. One arm then the other to strengthen the shoulder, back, upper arm and by making a fist lower arm and hand muscles. Another one for the back, is to sit as strait and high on the side of the bed, squeeze the bottom and thighs, pull in tummy, shoulders back, arms as if you're holding a big ball and twist to the left and right as best one can. Pretty much the whole body is done. Thank you for all that you do.❤❤❤😊

One thing I want to pass along as a caution to anyone with thinner, weaker nails: be very careful about using nails that are too narrow - they may deform your nails. I have always had thin nails and I tried out full cover tips a couple of months ago (basically, press-ons but in the gel-x system) and chose sizes that were too narrow. It stressed my nails and caused the pinkie and thumb to peel quite badly. I had to stop wearing them and I'm healing the damage. If you wear these, go too BIG instead of too narrow and take clippers or a nail file to shape the sides so they fit you better - do whatever you can not to compromise your nail because it's much easier to prevent damage than to grow it out!!

Basically everyone has different shaped beds and types of nails. Certain styles will be more curved and can't be worn if you have a flat bed and vice versa. Once you find a brand and style that suits you though, they work well.

I sure will try those nails (never have before!). Also, I had no clue Arnica would help the bruising or whatever it is that we get as we age! I learn so much from you :). I don't like the aging process, but I am so happy to be alive every day truly. I think you are beautiful, INSIDE AND OUT! I love your videos, and always look forwards to the next one!

Thank you for all the tips you share with us young at heart women. I've put a few things in my basket already. I have found some kiss nails at Dollar general for less money but inventory varies. Have a blessed day. Watching you from Orlando.

Patti, use a Helichrysum oil blend on those bruises. Daily use and they fade so fast.

Patti not only are you beautiful and truthfully informative, you just a joy to watch. I have those undetermined ugly bruises that show up for no reason, I've been using arnica products. I also use vitamin C serum before the Arnica and before bed really makes a difference😊

Patti, I have used Sally Hanson on my arms and tops of hands for a few years now. As you know it helps everything look much better, especially in the summer. I’m thrilled to know someone else uses it just as I do! I’ve tried other much more expensive wash off bronzers, but they simply don’t do the trick and I always come right back to Sally Hanson. I also use the spray that is for the legs…it works even better ( for me) than the cream tube. I spray it on the brush and voila!! it instantly helps cover flaws and give’s color to the arms/hands. ❤

Hi Pattie, Barbara here from England. I really enjoy your videos for your honesty about products ……. Saves me money too.👏🏻👏🏻 and your natural aging tips and comments. I am often referred to a glamours Mummy as I’m sure you are too. Which gives one a huge lift as we age. I was Dental nurse in my younger days and I want to congratulate you on your beautiful white teeth. In my humble opinion yellow aging teeth are the biggest tell of getting older and so many people pay attention to the face but as soon as they smile ………. ☹️ Smiling lights up your face Pattie as it does everyone. Would it be possible for you to do a video on keeping teeth healthy and white as clearly you have taken care over the years. Or maybe you think it is too personal a subject. ?? Lol Barbara xx

I am growing my natural nails out after trying gel nails at the salon for a year. $70 every 5 weeks! It was supposed to be a treat for myself. The first set was beautiful but each week the salon got messier & even after trading from the first gal that was so rough, I grew more concerned about the dark spots they all swore was nothing just edges of the old gel color (pink). It looked like fungus to me. After the first time I got a new set & they tore them off (I almost fainted!) I was not loving the salon, then the spots. I was going to get another new set but I soaked mine off like they had been done for about the 40 years I wore acrylic, I SAW what was really under there! Fungus! I opted just to grow them out & maybe use the press on style when they are grown out & healthy. I'll try the ones with the tabs if I do. I wash my hands no less than 10 times a day every single day so my nails have to hold up or just be natural. I get horrible ugly bruises! I think my lifetime in the California sun have not only aged my skin but really thinned it. My natural nails have the evidence of the chemo drug I take so I get white bruises on them that never grow off & stay in the same place. The bruises I get on my hands leave scars. That is so weird! Even little cuts bruise! Nothing I take has helped my skin/nails at all so I guess it just is what it is with my wrinkles, bruises, & odd shaped finger & toenails. No idea what causes the weird shaped nails but guessing that is also age related? You give some great tips!

Tea Tree oil applied at least a couple of times/day will eradicate the fungus. It takes time to grow out but it at least won't get worse.
