    Cool. I’m loving your channel and learning loads. I like how simple the lighting set up is, I must give it a go. A question on your PS editing; I see you flatten the image after each set of changes, is there a reason you do this rather than preserve the layers? I often go back to precious layers and tweak and change throughout.

    Thanks Kenny! I'd say each look I would give about 1/2 hour to, and in a 2 - 3 hour session we usually tackle around 4 looks. As for direction. I tend to see how the model moves on their own, and then add in my own ideas for posing as we go. I go into most shoots with only a rough idea of what I am looking for, and then let the process unfold.

    Hey Gary! Depends on how noticeable they are and what the image will be used for. It it's something that will never be posted on anything other than web, and it's not noticeable unless you really zoom in, then I don't worry about it, but if it's a close up, or being printed large, then I will use my clone tool and slowly work away at it.

    Hey Nathan, how do you deal with banding on a vignetted plain background? I realize youtube compression may show it here where it wasn't in your actual image. • @NathanElson

    Hey Louise! The only time I ever see banding is when my image is being compressed by the web, so as long as I export images specifically for the web (typically around 2000px on the long side at 72dpi) I don't tend to run into the issue. Hope that helps!

    Very interesting as usual! One question: are you always using the healing brush and D/B in a "destructive" way? I mean, is there any reason or occasion for you, where it's better to put it on a layer, so you have the possibility to go back? Regarding the tablet tool: I was thinking about asking you a video about this tool, before you mentioned it in the video. :)

  • @NathanElson

    @NathanElson

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Tommy! As for the D&B, like anything there are likely some 'better' ways to do it, but this is what I found and stuck with. I may try to work with it more on a layer basis to see how I like it. It also sounds like a lot of people want the Wacom video, so I will make that as some point soon as well!

  • @BrianBrayMedia

    @BrianBrayMedia

    Жыл бұрын

    It's never really destructive as long as you have a history brush. Creating a bunch of new layers, labeling and managing them "just in case" can be really time consuming. Fine for one or two shots maybe, but on a large order it can really bog you down. I think you'll find as you get more retouching hours under your belt you'll become more confident and won't need to rely on the safety nets as much.

  • @deltadave44

  • @NathanElson

    @NathanElson

    I've never tried that... I use a circular brush so I use the wheel as a way to make it bigger and smaller, but if you have a key on your keyboard that you use to rotate the brush, you can set that key stroke in the settings.
