Nice. All the reasons you said. Love my GRII!
Exactly the same reason I started photography. And through it, I have explored so much more of my city than I was aware existed. There are so many nooks + crannies, alleys, carparks, side streets, driveways, pieces of urban wilderness that I simply never noticed or found interesting until I had a camera in my hand. My city is pretty boring, but my camera enables me to milk enjoyment from it... and I'm bored a lot less!

Yes!! I have discovered so many things that I would never has bothered to see were it not for the camera.
Couldn't agree more about the mindfulness that comes with wandering around and exploring with a camera in your hand.
Great videos, I really like your presentation style.

I chose the GRIII mainly because of the internal stabilization and razor sharp lens. Also awesome build materials

Couldn't agree more!
The Ricoh GR III is the camera I reach for first, I never walk out the door without it. Even if I have other camera body's and gear with me, it's still the GR I'll most likely pull out first, particularly for street and urban photography. Its limitations, or I should say creative constraints, actually opens the gates to exploring new ways of seeing. It has become my primary choice for street shooting.

I totally agree about the 'creative constraints'!

I like the term "Urban Photography" cause of the (more)various "visions/interests" to take pictures ... imho ... :-)

Hi, I'm Arthur Moens from Belgium. Thanks for this video! I recently got myself a GRIII 'Street Edition'. I would like to engage in urban/street photography and being an absolute beginner, I figured that the easiest and least confronting mode would be with snap focus, set on 2,5m for instance. I would appreciate your comments.

That is a good idea! 5m also work pretty well, depending on the scene. :)
Łukasz, te odcinki są świetne :) Good Job :)

Very interesting video. I got into street photography for the same reason: to get out. But the timing couldn't have been worse March 2020 xD Still, even in my small hometown where I think I've seen everything 3 or 4 times already, there is still something new to discover every day.

I agree! If you can believe it, I went through slumps of boredom even in Tokyo. Creativity is a mindset, not a place! :)
what metering mode do you usually use?
Nice video mate

Hi, thank you for your videos! Do you prefer grii over griii or not? And why?
@EYExplore

Thanks for watching! Overall, I do prefer the GR III. It has a better sensor, so makes better images in low light situations and has better AF. But honestly, I somewhat prefer the ergonomics of the GR II. I miss the Exposure Compensation 'rocker' (the up/down control). And I also miss TAv mode. I used it all the time. You can still do TAv now but you can't access it via the dial. You have to go to M and then separately select Auto ISO. But anyway, the pros outweigh the cons so I use the GR III exclusively these days.
Another amazing video and some great photos! Im a big fan of the high contrast b&w mode on my GR II! And i would really like to see a video where you show how (and if?) and why you edit your photos. Im making photos to have fun and make art. And i really still dont understand why people edit their photos. For me as an artist it is like changing the a painting that i already finished and it feels like cheating or something...

I feel you. When I started with the GRIII, I shot JPEG only, then switched to RAW + in-camera editing, and now most of the time I edit in ACR. It's a great camera to get into editing. With digital you have to pick how data of the sensor is interpreted. It's comparable to developing film, although back in the day the average person relied on a standardized process performed by a lab.

Thanks! For me, editing is an integral part of the process. I shoot in raw only, so the image is not finished until some editing is applied. Ansel Adams once said about photography (he shot on film): "the negative is the score, and the print is the performance." A raw photo is like a piece of sheet music, but you have to make it sing.

@@EYExplore @feklee Thank you both for your answers! As a painter i looked on a photo as a finished painting. The "painting job" was the settings on my camera. But i never thought about it the way you just told me - that the editing is part of finishing the photo. Especially because in most of my photos my aim is to represent a certain moment like in reality. (And i still dont understand what some people are doing when i see them editing on youtube and almost destroying reality and creating a new digital reality. - and creating digital artwork like you said on your newest video on your own channel)

@@mosesp6200 yeah there's definitely a difference between editing to 'develop' the image and editing to alter the image. Also, it's important to keep in mind that there is no such thing at the 'real' image or an image 'straight from the camera.' If you shoot in JPG then the camera applies its own edits to the photo. I choose not to use the default edits and instead apply my own. Either way the photo is edited.

I do use a DSLR and a Mirrorless and the GR. They are all great in their own ways. The GR is my fave for taking it easy and strolling around town. It also gets out of the way of my vision the most. It feels like an extension of my hand and my eye. :)

Watching that video put me in a very positive mood, thank you! For something else: After becoming interested in Baubotanik, I became interested in trees. And after trading Hong Kong for Honduras, I walk through a tropical forest every day. Is there any chance for a GRⅢ video about woodland photography? I’m struggling. 😄
