I don't know if my comment will ever see visibility but I'm writing this for the skin care newbies to help them decide which acid to use: AHA or BHA depending on their skin type. AHA: Alpha Hydroxy Acids come in Glycolic (strongest), lactic (middle) and mandelic (weakest) AHA is water soluble, which means it is UNABLE to penetrate pores but work best on the top layer of the skin. AHA is best for exfoliation when your target is fading acne scars, evening out skin tone, removing sun spots, tans and refining your skin's top layer texture. It is capable of pulling in moisture, which means that for the most part (not all the time) AHA works better with DRY skin types because of its moisture pulling abilities. BHA: Beta Hydroxy Acids come as Salicylic Acid and Benzoyle Peroxide (really strong type). These are OIL soluble which means they are able to penetrate pores. They exfoliate too, but they can get into pores to unclog them. They are used commonly among oily skin types because of their unclogging and oil soluble properties. BHA also has anti inflammatory and anti bacterial abilities, making them suitable for people with acne prone skin. BHA, being oil soluble means it won't e able to pull moisture so it dissolves extra oil, making your skin extra dry (another reason why it's better for oily skin types) Note that oily and dry skin types can use both but you have to study the formulations. If you wanna use BHA and you have a dry skin type, be sure to use other products that have hyaluronic acid, panthenol, allantoin, squalane oil and other moisturizing ingredients. Know that moisture is OIL content while hydration is WATER content. They're both different, so you have to know if you are dehydrated (less humectants/water) or dry (less oil) When using these two, pH level is the very top priority bec Acids only work in an acidic environment and don't do well in alkaline skin. Acidic means your skin has to be at a pH below 5.5 (neutral skin pH). BHA should be used at a pH of less than 4, while AHA should be used below 4.5 generally. This is why when you use BHA and AHA you need either a pH balancing cleanser or a pH balancing toner (no need for both) and ideally these cleansers and toners should have a pH of less than 4.5. When using bha and aha, you need to let it sit on your skin for a minimum of 20-30 mins before proceeding to your next routine because adding serums and other products on top your bha and aha can disrupt the pH level of your skin making them ineffective and almost useless. Some toners and moisturizers and serums have a pH of 6 which when you do the math, obviously affects your bha and aha. Some studies have shown that BHA and AHA can work at a pH of 5 but at a very weak level.

For me, I had heard so many wonderful things about the klairs vitamin c drops. So, I, of course, had to try it out. Unfortunately, immediately after using it for the first time my skin broke out pretty badly. I'm not quite sure what it was in the product that irritated my skin, but I was pretty bummed since there had been so many great reviews saying it cleared up scars (I have oily and acne prone skin). Then, Charlotte and Cosrx released their vitamin C drop and I'm glad to say that I'm already on my second bottle and I've seen great results so far! One main difference that I noticed between the two products is that the klairs drops feel more oily than the lightning liquid. Hopefully, this helps anyone who is trying to decide which one to get.

Joan you are my go to girl whenever I am looking into new products or info on Korean skincare. I have been converted for a couple years now and we have the same skin type so I hang on your every word! But lately my skincare has just NOT been cutting it. I feel like I'm in a rut with my skin and my acne is starting to flair back up and I'm just reaching the skin quality I'm hoping for, I would LOVE to pick your brain and get suggestions. I'd love to give you my routines and make sure I'm not using anything together that I shouldn't be and possibly get suggestions for what I might add. Let me know! You are AMAZING thank you for all the effort you put into you videos, you're such a doll!

I love your videos. I’ve been slowly adding to my routine, going from 4 items to 9. But then I got acne on my cheeks (which never happened before). So I followed advice on one of your videos which said to scale back and use the bare necessities. And it’s working. My skin is “resetting”. Thanks so much.

I would also recommend the Black Sugar Scrub by klairs that I’m sometimes mixing with my cleansing oil, so that it is more gentle on the skin. You can really see a difference on the next day, when you are applying your make-up, because it not just looks but also feels smoother. Love your videos as always Joan 👌🏻💗😁

After years of struggle with acne, I finally feel like I've managed to resolve it! The best advice I can give you is to get blood tests to check your hormones and your allergies. Sometimes food allergies manifest as bad skin. Once you eat foods that are right for you, you'll stop breaking out and will make the most out of any scar removal treatments.

Oily skin with clogged pores and acne+scars here. I live in the very humid sunny Singapore. The cosrx snail thing works well for hydrating(?) at night. My skin is super oily so it's not the best for the day but sometimes I use a little bit if I know I'm gonna have Long hours in the lecture hall. Neogen wine pads are quite strong but feels pretty good after washing off. In singaporean terms, quite shiok la hor I use the hada labo aha+bha cleanser and it made life so much better. I tried a bunch of cleansers and I always fall back to that one. Yet to try cosrx's tho And also vitamin C really does help a lot. I think it did something to control oil a little bit better. Always use sunscreen after though, I use Biore's Water Essence one and it felt refreshingly light. I didn't feel like I had anything on and that's saying something as my face is a grease pan in tropical weather.

Hey Joan your hair just gets better every upload. I'm glad i voted for bangs on your instastory. Anyway klairs supple prep toner was my first step into kbeauty. At first, the idea of layering was scary cuz hellooo oily skin. But my skin loves it a lot. It was definitely an instant result and from there I discovered more about sheet mask, ampoules, serums etc. I cant tell the difference looking at the mirror but people around me have been telling me that I look better and that says a lot. Now back to klairs, this toner has some lavender and citrus oils which are therapeutic but for those whose skin is reactive to these, you might want to try pyunkang yul essence toner. It works just as great on my skin. Yeeha I'm two-timing these two and I'm not even sorry 😈

It was actually really funny because I was doing my skincare routine as I watched this and literally 8/10 products I used on my skin and I can confirm they really do help with preventing and fading acne!! Just wanted to drop by and give a review of my own; ps, I'm an oily and acne prone and somewhat sensitive skin type. Like I said I can basically confirm all these are very helpful with fading and preventing acne (asides from the very mom sheet mask and neogen pads since I haven't tried it myself). But wanted to specifically state that although I'm oily and acne prone my skin LOVES THE COSRX SNAIL 96 MUCIN and it has shown immense improvement with my skin texture and acne!! Although I'm an oily skin gal; I love to layer my skincare and have that very hydrated feeling on my skin so I love the texture of the snail and moisture it adds to my skin. If you personally don't like that feeling as an oily skin type you probably wont enjoy it like Abe. But just wanted to give a difference of opinion because each person and each skin is different! Just wanted to drop by incase someone had been curious on trying the snail mucin on an oily skin type; as for me it has worked great!!
