This was so interesting to watch; you really channeled your inner Holmes while investigating possible agents. Maybe that's why you had better numbers/a luckier success rate than I'd expected. However! Your 'how I stay sane' section is better titled 'did I stay sane?' ;)

thank you! and yes! I was deep diving, full on searching every inch of the internet 🤣 and maybe! querying is so fickle it's hard to pinpoint if there was one specific thing that made the difference lmao! I guess my question is, 'was I ever sane?' 🤣😄

i love these videos!! im so anxious waiting for my offer of rep i can't stop watching these right now. I'm obsessed lmao. i currently have 6 fulls out, (i already had 4 full rejections last year on an earlier draft of the MS but one resulted in an r&r so I'm querying that new MS now!) i am very confident with the new MS and my request rate but its been over a year of querying and i have to admit i thought it would take like 3 months LOL and i was very wrong about that so... its just nerve-wracking! congratulations!!!!!! i love seeing other people succeed from the trenches. i'm not a part of a writing/querying community online so i def need to get on that PS your book sounds amazing! i'm happy it's sapphic now, cuz i will read that lol

Wait. What agents don't require a synopsis? That's crazy. Or do you mean a synopsis beyond what's in the query letter?

Oh I mean beyond the query. (Although a very few amount of agents simply want the first couple pages and not a query at all.) A large amount of agents require a synopsis that is full summary of the plot with spoilers. They want more than the blurb in the query.

Bio. I edit a literary journal. The biggest mistake I see is the cutesy or overly "clever" bio. Avoid that. 9 times out of 10 all it does is trigger an eye roll. Keep your bio simple and matter of fact.

Typo in your description: Black Hills Legal Defense Fund... You are missing a D in Fund.
