WoW! All caps title I feel like I'm yelling. Hey guys! Thank you for all the incredibly kind comments on my college decision reaction video! A few of you asked for my stats and how I got into NYU so here they are! These stats also got me into: Spelman (Honors), SUNY Buffalo (Honors), Binghamton, RIT, and waitlisted at Barnard (lol, rip). Know that when I use C*mic Sans I’m being severly ironic. Let me know if you would be interested in seeing a Tisch portfolio video or any other college related videos!

    hiiii, congrats on getting accepted! im interested in getting into nyu because im gonna be a senior when school starts again, but im VERY insecure in my qualifications. like it’s not terrible, but my gpa is a few points under qualified, and i already took the sat but i’ll take it 2 more times, and im possibly thinking of taking the act as well. i actually think my extracurricular activities are impressive, but i can only name about 3 so far 😪. would you recommend doing early decision applications?

  • @amandamaryanna

    yes if you are 100% set on NYU I would recommend applying ED bc it's shows your serious commitment to the school. Keep in mind that ED is binding and if you are accepted you must attend, unless there are serious circumstances that make it unable for you attend. And I would really just recommend making what you're passionate about shine through in your application it is definitely not all about numbers. Good luck luv! :)

    2 year old video so no one is going to see this - I had a 3.8 GPA and 1320 SAT, honors/gifted classes 5 APs, and just hella extra curriculars so we were basically the same. Ive ended up feeling like I wasted all my high school...potential. I couldn't get into my state's flagship school and couldn't afford the private schools I got into (I was hoping to get bigger scholarships) so I'm at a school now where if I basically had a 2.7gpa and nothing else I could've got in just the same. So... what was ot all for?

    I FEEL YOU GIRL I SUCK AT MATH!!!! (and physics lol) Did you feel the ACT was easier? And why? I’m from NY as well so yes ik all about the regents classes and they’re annoying hahaha. We seem to be pretty similar because I was going to enroll for AP stats next year (my senior year) and as I said before I hate math. Sometimes it’s hard to not go with what everyone else is doing but, I’ve decided to focus my APs on what I’m interested in. You seem to love writing and I do too omg! This comment is such a mess hahaha but yeah, what were your thoughts on the SAT vs the ACT? You’re so pretty btw and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! NYU is my dream school and I am so happy for you :) I’ll be applying next school year, (hopefully) I’ll see you there!

  • @amandamaryanna

    @amandamaryanna

    6 жыл бұрын

    Erin Renzi thank you girl!! This comment made my day!💜 so yes I actually found the ACT a lot easier than the SAT personally. The ACT is a more fast paced test than the SAT which I really liked because during the SAT I’d find myself being very unfocused just because I had such a long amount of time. I also found the English and Reading sections of the ACT to be wayyy easier than the SAT. On the ACT my English and reading scores were close to perfect and I definitely didn’t do as well in English on the SAT. The ACT math is very fast paced and I’m not the best at math either, but it’s definitely manageable. As for science on the ACT this was my worst subject area, but it’s really about being able to recognize relevant information and decipher what it means. You don’t actually have to be good a science to do well in this section. My act score is comparable to about a 1450-1480 on the SAT which is a lot better than I actually did on the SAT. So I would definitely recommend trying the ACT! Before you take it make sure to take a few practice tests though so you are familiar with the structure. And as for AP classes I’m not the best at math, but I’m still in AP calc AB this year and it’s super manageable for me and not very hard. If you think AP Stats is manageable for you although it may not be your best subject you could still definitely go for it! Good luck with your college admissions and getting into NYU next year!💜

    Hey! So my school doesn't offer many AP or advanced classes, but I am taking an advanced math class and a dual enrollment psychology course. I've volunteered around my school quite a lot throughout the years. I've been captain of the softball team since freshman year, and was JV captain of the volleyball team this fall. I've won some medals (The Principals Award for the most exemplary student, and other medals for being a part of the volleyball and softball team). I've also been a part of the spirit squad (basically cheerleading), school choir, science club and decorating committee. I'm planning to do volunteering at a zoo this summer, or join a swimming club apart from my school. I also plan to be a part of the Yearbook club, but that's only for seniors and I'm a junior. I’d like to major in psychology and minor in liberal studies or study at the Gallatin School for individualized studies as I love exploring and researching (especially when it comes to learning about the mind). I really don't think I've got a shot, but could anyone let me know what they think? And also what I can improve on? Any advice? (Also my school is quite small which I think can work against me :c)

    i have a question. I have a REALLYYY low GPA as a freshman, like a 3.5-3.6 out of 4 point. But this year I took Alg 2/Trig (harder one), and Chinese 3. Next year I am taking 2 honors classes, one in chinese and the other in chem. I also applied to the school newspaper and im hoping to get in. then in junior year im taking AP Calc AB, AP Chinese, AP Chem, AP Lang. And in Senior yr I planned AP Gov and Politics, AP Lang, AP Stats, and AP Bio. my goal is to be chief editor by senior yr for newpaper at school. I am set to be VP for a Student Corps branch at my school next yr, an officer for a science club, and hopefully mock trials team. I have health issues so i cant take any sports or pe, unfortunately, i was going to be on the cheer team. Do you think that my course choices could make up for my grades this year?

    Emmarellda1 as long as you find these courses manageable for you I’m sure you’ll be fine by the time you’re applying to college and if they are weighted they will definitely add to your gpa! Good luck👍

    They aren’t directly convertible. On a 4.0 scale only letter grades matter, so 90 is equivalent to a 100, but there is a major difference between an 89 and 90. So if you got 90’s in your 6 classes, that is very favorable to getting 3 100’s and 3 89’s on a 4.0 scale, even if your gpa out of 100 is higher. My school reports both next to one another, so it sort depends school to school which is more important for your gpa. If you’ve gotten a B, your unweighted gpa should not be a 4.0
