(2024.6) UPDATE: Since a lot of people requested it I made the hair coloring tutorial! You can watch it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hpiql9OtnsTYnNI.html --------- Thanks for watching and I hope these tips can help out! Drawing hair is hard for real, so don't worry if you're struggling to get it at the start - that's perfectly normal. The important thing is to keep on practicing 💪

Can you do something that's sketch friendly? Like for people that draw on a sketch book, not like a tablet or something, please?

True. As a new digital artist after enough time I can make the entire character look good. And then comes the shading and coloring.

The pictures and videos you see are from artists who have spent years practicing and hours on that specific piece. Thats years of bad drawings, art classes, sometimes art school, and studying fundamentals. You have the whole rest of your life to be able to learn don’t stress that wont make you a better artist.
Thank you this helps a lot because for me I would focus on “THIS HAS TO BE PERFECT I HAVE TO MAKE THIS PERFECT” or “My drawing sucks I have to make it better” but after this video I learned that mostly caused stress on me just like when I was younger I would tell my mom “my drawings look better when I’m drawing because I’m bored but when I actually am trying and wanna draw it looks bad” and I honestly really struggle with hair so thank you ❤
4:20 this actually has an official term for it! They are called "tangents", where you can either have a tangent where two lines meet wrong, or patterns are repeating unnaturally, distracting the eyes
Dude idk how your videos are free! The leveling up mindset 2:11 is absolute genius!!

I did a free trial on skillshare (overpriced) and these tutorials are much better
Another quality tutorial form Ori-sama, I'm in love with your style so these tips are very helpful 😭🙏🙏 Would love to see the coloring tutorial!
Your advice is some of the best and most genuine advice I've seen! This is super helpful thank you!!
I love your tutorials! Other artists have the same tips, but their style is realistic, so I didn't really understand how to apply them to my art. Watching you reference anatomy for your anime-style drawings helps a lot :p
Good short and to the point thank you! This video was explained super well 💕
No cap bro tbh, I really love your channel, I just got into it and one thing I love is that you just get straight to the point and you actually explain it and it’s actually entertaining! Bro thank you you are doing Gods work! Blessing the community!
Thank you for this tutorial! The way you explained it was easy to understand, and the grass rule was a tip I hadn't heard before.
7:16 you are such a great teacher. That demonstration at the end really drove everything home for me. Gonna split up the head in one of my sketches now so that I can retain this info by doing
I loved learning while watching this, thank you!
Thank you for this hair tutorial! I have always wanted to draw hair in style similar to yours and anime illustrations, but most times I feel they come out flat and more cartoonish. I'll give these methods a shot next time I draw and see how it goes!
Hot take: hair is harder than hands

Hands are harder to draw for me, hair can take multiple ways and styles to draw while hands well, has specific mass and shape that is usually small which makes it hard to get the angles right without planning or guidelines

Well I can draw short hair so I'll tell ya It's like a string that you repeat while the hands has way too much detail to perfect it💀
bro u are my savior 😭 all the other tutorials i could never understand. finally someone who makes things understandable😌
Coloring tutorial would be amazing! Coloring is the one thing I struggle with the most, I just can't seem to pick out a good color (either comes out too dark or light so I try using the tonal correction to help in s lot of my decisions)
Lovee these short bite size tutorials!!
This is so effective! Immediately gave me a way to not mess up hair and observe it in perspective. Solid video, very informative.
Thank you for this, this is very helpful. Also, love your art!
Ah! I just found your channel!! It's pure gold!! Thank you so much! hope you make the coloring one i don't know why it's so difficult if looks easy ToT
thank you for sharing your tips! I especially love the ‘level up drawing system’ one. 💛 I think of that as like, start simple then get complex later. but yours is more easy-to-remember! I’d love to see you make a tutorial on colouring hair.
I'd watch all your video that are uploaded and my art skill turn out better than last time, thanks for the tips😊
love your explanations, enjoying your videos
Thanx a lot for this video! I can finally improve the quality of the hair I draw. It will be gradual and I'll need to come back often but it's already helpful to stepping it up
Ori-sama your my inspiration! Imma do my best!!
Really easy to understand and good drawing, thank you
As a person who is new to art and just got a drawing tablet, I would like to say thank you. This is going to help me a lot in the years to come.
helloo, just wanted to say that i love your works and looking forward to your coloring tutorial!
It was very helpful, thank you very much! ^.^ your voice sounds very calming. Please continue with the videos! :3
Came for the hair tips, stayed for the hair tips and the based Lappy art 😌🙏🏻 I've been trying to draw a bit for some character designs in a game I'd like to make, so I'll definitely be putting this video to good use! Thanks a bunch

Yup coloring tutorial would be really helpful. I think the tip about AO really was what I was looking for. I could never get my hair to look like it was actually look like it was a part of the character
Found your account just now and already watched 3 of your videos! Will definitely try out your methods today! The only thing I could suggest is uploading a file with the sketch so we can try to trace and learn from it!

It's been ages so I'm excited to finally post a new one too!
Welcome back! Would want to see the coloring tutorial
I love this video. Will totally check out some more of your videos 😄
Damn, this was the best tutorial i've ever seen about hair. I mean, i watched literally dozens of videos of hair and couldn't get it done, untill now. THANKS!
We miss you!!! Love to see it, also could we get a break down from rough to final render?
this was super easy to understand ty so much
Thank you!
my personal hair drawing method is just... i know what the hair looks like in the various areas, so i add on lines for hair there until it looks good. i use lots of sketchy lines until its the right shape and length and then i can erase what was unnecessary and boom, now i can either colour it or do lineart over top. my workflow/order seems quite different to yours, (particularly how polished your final products are... i usually just erase and redraw the sketch over and over until it looks nice) but the tip on avoiding grass was a really helpful explanation putting into words all of the trial and error i get with redrawing longer stretches of hair ends. most of my art growth has just come from trial and error over the years and your videos are really helpful in having a more concrete concept of the things ive taught myself and the things ive been struggling with.
You're incredible, thanks.
I love your art I love the way you teach your a good KZreadr
i like your simple chibi drawing so much, it looks very funnny😂
No bs straight to the point
the art at the end is so kawai and nice tutorial
I would consider myself quite advanced at drawing, however my style is very rough. I have drawn hair many many times but this is the first time I've thought about drawing hair like ribbons, great stuff! Still need to get better at drawing smooth lines though haha.
Thank you so so much this helper me alot😊😊
Some great tips. If you want to go for that slightly more realistic look instead of a whorl you can go from a the part in their hair. Which isn’t necessarily always straight in the center too be aware of it. also sometimes for like idols they go out of their way to have like a perfectly strait, monotonous line on the bangs and in that situation id so go for it because it is intended but it doesn’t have to be a perfectly symmetrical, flat line. Slightest of variations will sell the illusion they also sold to you to make you want to draw it ;)
The amounts of time I give up because drawing hair are ridiculous even though i watch tons of tutorial nom of them help but this, this is very helpful because the way you explain is very great and so many information so Thank You

I have pretty bad anxiety when it comes to many things & that includes my drawings. I've been trying to improve my art (by actually finishing it) but there are so many steps I'm trying to do at once that I haven't actually harnessed enough to do, so trying to do a bunch of things I *cant* all at once has been burning me out. I took a couple days to get away from this overwhelming feeling, since my skills with art mean A LOT to me. But the 2 MAIN things I've been struggling with lately are drawing hair, & clothes properly so that it can match my ability to draw bodies/anatomy (which in the long run still need work too since I've always done sketches & never complete artwork.) I have a lot to actually get through before getting to the starting point I wanna be at, & finding videos like these that REALLY break everything down helps out a lot. So I'd just like to say thank you for posting this for people to watch, & thank you for soothing my anxiety & doubts I have against my art skills 🥲🥲
Thanks to you I now know how to draw hair. When my project is finished, you're gonna be in the Special Thanks credit roll.
this is so helpful omg T___T ive always struggled w drawing hair, thank u for giving actual tips !!! (instead of just saying to visualize hair like bananas lmao)
GOATed art :O
I was actually expecting some kind of hair types and kinds tips
loving the tensura slime references
Thanks for the tutorial. A tutorial on hair coloring would be nice, if you can.
Never call art crappy 😂say you are part of my practice thank you ☺️ for being part my journey that may learn and grow I created you and I will improve so that I may make more beautiful art
You are the best man
