    Ahhh I'm glad you found it useful! It's really important to recognise when things are getting too much. Something ive learnt this year is to not feel as guilty for taking breaks. There's so much more to life than uni and grades and I think being more of a wholesome person with other hobbies and things to discuss about yourself is much more important and healthy than just focusing on one thing 😊

    @@taniaalexis6919 It most definitely is important to recognise it and take breaks when you need to!! That's such a good point, although it's important to try your best you should always put your health and happiness first! I found the tip of a literature table really helpful because I often just copy and paste information/studies and keep a list of references but it can get a bit confusing sometimes so that definitely something I'm going to do now 😊

    Definitely! I always write the information that I put into those tables in my own words now. It takes a bit of time initially but you will thank yourself for it later trust me 😊

    I've been thinking about psychology but it seems so daunting and I should probably stick to my creative arts field. I have a thing whenever I get interested in something; I really immerse myself and become obsessive about it, and studying mental health, I will probably think I have all these issues in the diagnostic manual. I'll leave all the intelligent stuff to you.

  • @taniaalexis6919

    @taniaalexis6919

    It is a very broad subject so can seem quite daunting but it also means that you have lots of different opportunities for work etc. If you dont fancy studying it at degree level then you can always read books etc as a hobby instead, especially if you are interested in it!

    Hey, I am a second year trying to pick my diss topic, i was just wondering how did you pick your topic?

  • @taniaalexis6919

    @taniaalexis6919

    3 жыл бұрын

    I would definitely say to pick something that you enjoy. You have to spend so much time doing your diss and if you aren’t passionate about the topic you will go crazy. At the same time if you have an idea about what you would like to do career wise then you could try and base your diss topic off that eg if you want to work in mental health then you could research perceptions of a particular medical condition. Hope that helps 😊

    not sure if you will see this! i'm doing joint honours in psychology, not sure how i'm meant to set out the thematic analysis any tips 😫mine is due in just under three weeks

    I can’t remember exactly how I laid it out but I know I made a table of my themes and sub themes to put at the start of my results section as I found that easier than the thematic map. The I briefly described each theme and it’s sub themes and then included the quotes underneath that went with it. I didn’t actually discuss them in the results section as I went into more detail in the discussion which is definitely something I will change this year but it seemed to work out ok for me. Hope that gives you an idea of where to start but ultimately my advice is just to read lots of published articles that have used thematic analysis as that way you get an idea of different layouts and styles etc. Hope that helps and good luck!!

    @@emmajenkins7874 honestly as long as you include everything on the assignment brief then you should be fine. If the structure is a bit off then you won’t lose too many marks, just make sure it flows nicely and would make sense to someone reading it who has no knowledge on the topic. Also don’t forget to explain each of the six stages from braun and Clarke’s research as I assume that’s what you will be using to conduct your TA

    Other than searching on Google I also used my university’s library website. They had access to different articles that I didn’t have the rights to view on Google. I can’t link that as unless you go to Coventry university then you won’t be able to access it I’m afraid but I’m sure other universities will have similar resources. It might be worth asking your lecturers what’s available for you 😊

    Oh sorry I’ve just realised I read that wrong. It was just over 80 for my whole diss and the majority of those would have come from my lit review (introduction) as we can’t add any new research into the discussion. But, a few of those references would have been in my method section as you have to justify the approaches that you have taken if that makes sense 😊

    So I 2x2 basically had a little table with things filled in down the side (vertically). I put my subheadings in the first column eg authors, summary and my thoughts and then in the second column I filled in those sections. If that doesn’t make sense then comment back with your insta username and I will dm you an example 😊
