How I Film Formula 1's MOST ICONIC SHOTS
Спорт
We see all types of emotions running high in Formula 1, drivers winning and celebrating on the podium to teams in heartbreak over a DNF. But there is one person who's job it is to capture these emotions for the F1 broadcast, Jean Michel TIBI.
We talk through his work on a regular Formula 1 weekend, filming with his Arri Amira slow motion camera and some of his stories from filming in the sport for the past 30 years!
Check out Jean Michel TIBI: / f1jmt

Isn’t this an old video? Am I Mandela-effecting this?

The original video had to be taken down due to a copyright claim by FOM showing F1 cars, so it’s been re-edited so it can be seen!

The fact it was his last ever gloves makes them even more special. He must have meant a lot to Micheal during his career
Damn. Imagine "just" being a camera lad working at your dream job. Then being thanked by one of the most legendary drivers ever and given his last ever F1 gloves. What a feeling that must have been
If these are all shots that he filmed, he is a legend
For people wondering, the original version of the video had to be taken down.
This was one of my favorite videos finding out the behind the scenes of this. Glad to see it back.
I met Jean Michel recently at the São Paulo Grand Prix. Hes so sweet and full of energy, loads of stories to tell. It was a pleasure to meet him and see him in action
this guy has probably taken the most iconic shots in F1 and I feel bad I didn't know him
Dude! So you are the guy who has basically defined the soaring highs and brutal lows of Formula One competition? Damn, son, hat's off to you! You have quite the portfolio of epic moments in history of Formula 1 that really do define the very highest elation or the most brutal lows. Wow. All the videographers and media peeps working in F1 have tons of amazing shots, you seem to have the last 20 years so far locked down brilliantly. Amazing shots!
I remember this clip where he was really exciting about a pit stop and his reaction was filmed. You could see pure joy.
I've been involved in live TV broadcast for about 6 years now and would love to get into motorsport. This was very insightful! Great to hear about Jean :)
Not super dramatic but one of my favourite F1 shots is a low angle slow-mo of Lewis sitting into the W12 (I think? Either the W12 or W11). With his black suit and the black livery and the black-suited mechanics and shiny black garage he just looked so menacing. It was in DtS S4 but I’ve spotted it a few times in other F1 videos too.

Same! I loved the look of the black suit with the black livery, it looked so mean and badass.
The most iconic shot is when Lewis equaled his record with Aryton Senna and he got gifted the helmet and when he got told its not a replica he dropped everything out his hands and was in disbelief.

This is a great interview, these people rarely get the credit they deserve and their stories are amazing. Glad you were able to re-upload!
Segio celebrating his win at bahrain is iconic
Alonso 2012 Brazil thousand yard stare after losing the title by 3 points is my favorite iconic shot, that and Seb bowing to the car in India are my absolute favorite as a younger fan who missed so many other iconic drivers in other eras.
I LOVE HIS SPINNING PITSTOP SHOTS
Literally my dream job. Thank you for doing camera ops around the world proud.
what a guy! super energetic and passionate.
He's so nice 🥰
I would love a 1 hour video of you talking with him
An absolute artist.
I'm actually touched by this video!
that last story blew me away and almost made me shed a tear
This is exceptionally well done! Sure a great story about an epic cameraman and some fabulous F1 clips and images - but the interview and this production are very well done!
What a legend, so many epic shots.
this guy needs more subs!!! Such a great video! Love it!!!
Most iconic shot for me is the Ferrari mechanic punching glass next to Massa's parents in the Garage when Lewis clutched the championship from under Massa's nose in 2008.
Good job getting this video back up again 👍
Great episode Matt!
Matt make a video about how the timings of each drivers are calculated so fast.
what a legend!
Banger after banger. Good interview bud
Time to watch it again
watched full video with goosebumps
The spin shot... The fucking spin shot 😍
For everyone who understands French and wants more details, the YT channel "la boîte à gants" made a great 3-hours interview of Jean-Michel Tibi
"I was happy, he was not happy" lmaooo 😂😂
What a dream job !
Super interesting video!!
man i love the story with the gloves
then, Jean Michel got his own iconic scene in Istanbul 2021 😂
watching this video has now made me more aware of Jean when I see F1 pictures on social media. Kind of like an easter egg hunt.
This guy is a legend.
cool video!
Sometimes when I watch the drivers with all the mídia I think that they hate it and are annoyed by the cameras. But looking at MSC and button gestures I'm starting to rethink it
literally my dream job.
damn. tht why u love your job.
0:06 is my oldest f1 memory. I was only 3 in 2005 😂
woah
Felipe Massa family celebrating the title in Brazil for like 10 seconds until Hamilton finishes the race.
You know when cameraman wearing Patek Phillippe Nautilis he is not ordinary cameraman
I want this job literally, am a camera op working in av with a dream of becoming a camera op for F1

I’ll take that as a compliment 😂
do you believe the cameras are zoomed in too much and therefore make the action look slower than it actually is? I know the effects of zoom and it seems like when Spectators post cell phone video The Cars usually look like they're moving really fast compared to what you see on tv. I'm sure they have great lenses and they probably need to zoom to keep the close up you want to see the action close but I fear it's taking away from the sense of speed. do you agree?
That Perez shot was one of a kind, honestly.
Seb kneeling infront of the RB9
Imagine being a legend behind the camera. Love for this bro.

Ok. Now tell me who's the guy that cuts to a crowd shot when two drivers are side by side barreling into a corner.
Deja vu??
Btw where has been the old celebratory drivers attack on cameraman camera? We havent seen like what seb. use to do it
Haha being told you’re filming your fellow Frenchman and idol Alain Prost, then he takes the year off so you get shuffled over to his arch rival and nemesis Aryton Senna 😂

I'm thinking about india 2013 when vettel bows to his rb9
