Never seen a video on clothes like this. This might just be the kickstart to my learning-fold-painting-and-clothing-design-by-scramming-for-references arc

Marco Bucci has a good video on clothes as well!
Don't forget- exaggeration is key! When studying reference, do not emulate it perfectly. Change what you are seeing to get sharper/softer angles (situational) make the shapes bigger or smaller to balance out the weight of the drawing and remember that slants are your friends! Your drawing should be inspired by real life, not copy it
The hardest is the anatomy 😢

We can agree the hardest thing is perspective
Great video over all just a little correction for beginners (at 14:22 ) to avoid confusion: Core shadow is typically found where the terminator is, representing the area of an object that is completely shadowed by the primary light source, receiving minimal bounce light. What NIRO is referring to as core shadow here is actually (🤓) ambient occlusion, which refers to the areas of folds and crevices where no light reaches at all, as opposed to core shadows, which may still receive some light from the sky or any surrounding atmosphere, unless you are in outer space.

The light one gives off a cute art style too. I guess it just depends on the artist and which style they want.

The painting guide was honestly the best part of the video, I hope you do more stuff like this. While I understand the general process, I feel most videos on painting processes just hand wave a lot of the practical ways to do it and just go for a technical/academic approach.
You have no idea how many times I have searched for a video and painting style like this in the past! Like bruh.. I was desperate .This was really really helpful... I can't thank you enough
I think I tend to overcomplicate how folds actually work when it’s actually really simple, which makes me feel like I’m doing it wrong because it’s too simple lol
Thank you algorithm for putting this in my front page. Instant follow on every social I use even though I can't draw
Dropped at the perfect time! Thank you.

Super helpful as always. Particularly how to paint clothes. When I started my practice routine I also decided to draw at least one artwork focusing on clothing and folds per day. It was a struggle at first but it paid off after some time. I think the key to drawing folds is not too think too hard about fold types. There are areas where folds occure no matter what and others depending on the material or how wide or tight the clothes fit. I Particularly love drawing folds on leather gloves :3 Thank you for sharing this video and all the advice with us :3
Thank you for this! Exactly what I've been needing! Very well organized, descriptive with various examples to show the process too. Keep up the great work!
happy to see another upload from you
Wow, this is such a great tutorial You teached not only about clothes, but also fundamental skills to art in general!!!
this is so helpful! I've been struggling with drawing clothing for a while now, but this has helped a lot!
making this video must have taken a lot of time. Instructions are clear and examples easy to follow. Thanks!
that's what i've been waiting for, thank you niroo🔥
Love this! Great visuals and breakdown of information! 👏🏽
the tempo of this video is perfect for learning 👌!

NIRO SUPREMANCY!!!
THIS helped so much omg THANK YOU
Thank you, well explained and illustrated
i love this! and btw stumbled upon ur channel through this vid and ur voice is so soothing to hear. i ended up playing most of ur vids while i draw, the information is not too overwhelming, pacing is good and relaxed, as well as digestible. a good change from listening to music! oh ya love the bgm too. will of course pay attention to the actual vids when i’m not drawing!
14:43 the saturated one is so majestic tho 😭😭nit kinda reminds me of manga covers
Love it! It helped so much!!
You my friend, are a Godsave.
thats so good man, i love this
Love the video definitely will try applying these concepts in my art❤
I love the rendering
Thanks for the tips ❤
This is a very good video. I hope more videos like this will increase on KZread. I learned a lot about basic drawing, way of thinking, practice, and how to find reference images.
Broooo thankss alott :" I almost gave up for digital painting. And u make my world light up again.
Finally a helpful tutorial
Thank you for such an insightful guide! Your explanation made coloring and lighting much less intimidating especially for artists like me who struggle with applying color & light theory.
Thank you!❤🎉
This guy is the best❤
Great video, i really gotta practice with references more often
This was an overall great video. However, what was really lacking, and I think is the absolute key to making things look good, is painting the midtones. If you had explained how you paint the midtones in detail that would have made this an outstanding video.

Yes! Like, I know that there should be hard shadows and light, but what comes in between is the most difficult for me >

teach us how to shade again! your tutorial was so helpful and it gives me hope for my future, but i am confused on the lighting part and the different types of shading.
thanks!
So helpful! Can you perhaps clarify on the order of shading when painting? Do you do multiply/light first and then go over that with core shadows and midtones? Because that's what always makes me struggle :')
You should make a tutorial on how to draw the anatomy of the body-/hj Anyway this tutorial is rlly helpful. Thanks for delivering again!
Thanks again
my takeaway: - Tension points: Pulls the clothes together. Folds form lines that lead here - Compression points: Where clothes are bunched together, weighing on each other and squeezes each other out. Folds form into "piles" Skill: Analyze the reference. Identify the purpose of the clothing, the material it is made of (soft rounder folds, hard sharper folds), how gravity and forces are tugging on them Types of fold: - Diaper folds: U shaped around the point it hangs from, flows downwards like a reversed stairway - Spiral folds: Form a spiral, hard-to-predict pattern of X, Y and Z. I think of it like swaying and swinging between left to right, for softer materials? - Zigzag folds: Forming zigzags, I'm assuming from harder fabric piling up ==> sharp piling zigzaggy folds? - Half-lock folds: Fold forming on a bent on a joint (elbow, knee) which create a tension point in the bent, pulling folds to that bent Other observation: During lineart, draw thicker lines for folds that form more shadow, draw softer lines for less important folds ==> Composition will play together quite nicely Painting: - 3 layers: Lighting, core shadow, and midtones in between. - Use multiply layer to draw basic darker shadows, then - Play with colors to form colder or hotter shadows - Airbrush with overlay layer to heighten saturation which makes it look more awesome - Skill: Light carving ==> Fill painting with shadow then put the lighting on after
Why is there a massive jump in the process just in the most useful/interesting part 😭 10:09
half lock fold and zigzag folds are easily S tier
Wow
Do you apply core shadows, midtonws and light all in the same layer? Or do you create a separate one for each step?? Also. Do you use blending modes for the core shadows, and midtones? Thank you in advance
boutta steal your artstyle broski🤝🤝
Thanks I love uuuuuu
and here i am still hoping that one day I can draw clothes like leyendecker
The areas you are illustrating as areas where the light doesnt reach is where Ambient Occlusion happens and are the darkest areas usually, depending on the material, when painting an object, not the Core Shadow as you say in the video. The Core shadow is the part with the darkest value of the object, after the Ambient Occlusion areas. The Core Shadow is located after the Terminator, which is the division of areas between the darkest light and the lightes darks. You can find this kind of information at pictures online it is not explicit knowledge. Other than that, the drawing part of your video contains some very good knowledge and is very anlytical!
Who tf is this guy and why is he so damn good at drawing clothes
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats all I can say honestly.
i love u pls dont die
I always thought drawing drip was always cooler than drawing the actual character
This no joke just leveled up my art 😭 would love to see a video on line weights if you haven’t made one already 🫶🏾
pls clarify about midtones too
the way you pronounce assume is adorable!! ASSHUMEE
how do you pick the color to use for the terminator of your shadows?
What programs do you use to draw and what do you draw on?
Can we pls have a cloth rendering tutorial
what buttons i have to press 2 flip the canvas in the middle axe like here in this video ?
As time past i became better at drawing armour then cloths
I need a vid on how u draw hair
Is that a Dutch a Dutch accent or something else? Not that it matter ofc but its always a fun feeling to me to find something close to home + the chance to find you at a con near me or have local shipping costs

you are a great artist but as a teacher you are still a 6.8/10
I love u bro
The anatomy and clothes are on point and then the face happens... 😅 I know it's a part of your style but still it feels like a plot twist.
