How I do my vintage curls!
Ойын-сауық
hi friends!!! It's been a while since I've done shown my hair routine (and to be honest I've been mosey-in' on down to struggle-town with short hair). BUT I've finally found a curling method that I like for this length so I wanted to share!
Just a fun little process video!
Products I use:
Motions Setting Lotion
Cozy Curlers
Foam Rollers (you can get these at most pharmacies or online)
Determination for floof
(also yes i know my hair is 50 Shades of Ginger SHHHHH)

So cute. I’m old, 61, so I grew up with my mom doing this to my hair. The “boing” is requisite for the curl to have the right bounce!

I am a rotisserie chicken style sleeper so while foam rollers give me nice curls, it's nearly impossible to sleep with them

The purple curlers she's using are called Cozy Curlers and they don't have any hard plastic. The bumps might still be uncomfortable, but they might work for you

This took me out but same💀 You could try using a 36 inch square silk scarf as a wrap while you sleep. There’s a way to tie it to where they won’t come out. It’s solved the issue with my hair vs my chickenness!
I hunted down the rollers she is using, you're welcome! They're called Cozy Curlers!

Your hair is growing so fast. I love watching you do your hair.
Hehe I saw your cute face and went. “MOTHER OF PEARL SHE POSTED A SHORT?! That only happens once every few months!” Hehehhehehehehe

Lol! To be fair, I love supporting Rachel's long form content because creators are compensated a lot more for long videos and get meager sums for shorts since there is no ad revenue

IKR! It's like a special little gift when a short shows up unexpected. 😄
Maximum floof achieved
I've heard that doing a zig zag part in the back can stop your hair splitting into two sections at the back!!! Genius!!
My mom used to set her hair in pin curls in the 40s. She said when you take the pins/curlers out, you keep brushing, brushing, brushing your hair until it goes where you want. If you kept brushing your hair, you’d get smoother waves with lots of body.

Your videos are always so comfy.
This is so cute! I love videos about vintage hairstyles. I recently tried out a 1920s hairstyle on a friend of mine for an assignment and I struggled a bit since I've never done it before, but in the end it turned out much better than I expected :-) the youtube tutorials I watched really helped
This is how my grandma (born 1923) wore her hair in 1940. She had auburn hair and my grandpa was OBSESSED! Love it, so fluffy and adorable ❤️
Wow I never saw those hair raviolis before, they look so easy
the net is so cool! i’ve never seen that looks great for when ur hair doesn’t want to stay on the roller
"Not granny enough.". 😂
Rachel, you were the one who taught me how to do vintage curls back in early 2020 when I started dressing vintage inspired!!!
The second blue top with the clouds (?) is super cute on you! ^^

“Slap it on” 😂
👏👏👏 yay, a straight center part! Vintage curls look excellent on her. Doesn't hurt that Rachel is being all "Rachel adorable"😊
Love that top! The fabric is beautiful
Oh my gosh I wish I had rollers like that, I want my hair to be floof! My hair naturally overcompensates for me (I'm gay, my hair is very straight) and doesn't hold a curl for very long, but I'd still love to try this

I love this comment so much, my hair and eyes overcompensate for the rest of me! (I'm mostly plain in appearance, but my eyes are hazel-blue, they're very expressive, and my hair is curly, wavy, AND straight, an all in one type!)
Super cute! Wish I had the patience and not the 3 second attention span to do it for myself 😂❤

Where is that gorgeous blue top from??
YES you posted a short I live for your updates. If I’m feeling down, all I gotta do is watch some Rachel Maksy and your first exuberant and probably chaotic sentences make everything funnier and better! Thanks for inspiring me to not care what others think and do some ✨vintage✨
I had an assignment to write about my favorite social media figures...and I wrote a whole page about how ur channel is my all time favorite...and I would have even written more if I had time then.
i need a link to those curlers!

I want those net curlers!! 😮😮
When you said "Try not to say "boing."" I was like "Nooooooo! That's all I want to say!" 😂😂
I got my cozy curlers because of you! 😂 I love my vintage curls that you’ve inspired in my life ❤🎉
i vote for a video recreating that top you wear the next day, it's cute
That blue colour is STUNNING on you 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Rags, pin curls, stovetop flax fluid as setting lotion, stovetop hot curling irons, hard plastic cylinders, hood & bonnet hair dryers, foam rollers, perms,.electric curling irons & crimpers. Clip in extensions. Real human hair additions. Full circle!
for the first time in the billion years of watching your channel, my hair is actually roughly the same length, cut, and even COLOR so I can actually follow along in the hair videos now haha!
That top is amazing 😁
Why are you absolute perfection in a human being
I love the straight hair look you have but the beauty of your hair in curls like that are stunning . So cute and attractive. Wow nice.
Thank you so much for introducing me to Cozy Curlers. I'm now using them regularly and loving the pseudo-vintage look I get with them.
Why is "try not to say boing" so relatable???
I'd love to see it rolled up and away. I want to see it angled to frame your face. Your length is perfect for it. Please show us every curl angle in your gorgeous locks! That would be so lovely.
How do you brush them togeather without loseing the curl this is something I struggle with 🤔

That woll depend almost entirely on your own hair. Thicker and heavier hair will slacken faster than finer lighter hair. My hair is wicked think and heavy not to mention very very long. Curls like this last about an hour for me, and thats with foam rollers all over. Rachel has mentioned a few times that her hair is finer than makes her happy, but that definitely enables these cute styles! It'll also depend on the product you're putting into your hair to set the curls. I don't like unnecessary product in my hair, so I've handicapped myself as far as the results go.

It's the combination of a good setting product (foam to not weigh anything down), doing the curlers overnight and having shorter hair. The longer your hair gets, the harder it will be, even a few inches can make a LOT of difference, I've experinced, especially if you have naturally thick (=heavy) hair. If you lose the curl, it could also be bc you're doing your sections too big and the product cannot reach as many strands as possible (and therefore not setting their shape).
Sooooo fluffy :D
So cute. I got myself some curlers and enjoying curling my hair at night
I bet all the actual Grannies love seeing you so glamorous in looks from their youth ❤
So FLUFFFFFFFYYYY!
This is the only reason I would want my straight hair back. But then I remember how torturous getting my hair straight would be so it's fine.
Ahh I want to try vintage curls so baaaad but sleeping in this curlers would drive me nuts!!
daaaam she looks good
I swear your hair grows so fast wth
Wow! I love redheads, but a redhead with beautiful curls is next level. ❤❤❤
very nice floof!
So cute 🩷!
I also like rag curls. My grandma introduced me to those at about 8 years old. Minimum effort, easily available, beautiful turnout.
Do you have a link for your rollers you use for the top of your head??
So cute!
➰💇♀️"Maximum Floof." I like!😂👍
So CUTE!!!!
Yep, used a clairol hot roller set in high school. They still make the same model and I used it this morning, I’m 59.
Omg your top though 😩❤️

I need those rollers 😍
This is so cute! But I have to mention how adorable that top is too!
Ooo lala! I will try this!
Love Cozy Curlers!
Thats a cute top
I think light baby blue looks great on you! ❤
I have these exact rollers and bought that exact curl setting foam and even with tiny sections my head doesn't produce enough heat overnight for them to set. They're just sticky and tangly in the morning :( The setting foam does set very well for me with heat tools though.

I bought them too. I let it set overnight then hit them with some hot air from the hairdryer. Get dressed, eat, etc, then take them out when they’re cool. It helps!

I adore your smile and energy 🥰🥰🥰
Maximum floof, indeed! Your hair is seriously so gorgeous ❤
I just saved this as a tutorial for my short hair. It's at that weird stage where it's messy and in the way but there's just about nothing I can do about it 💀
Ooo that blue top with the bowtie strappies is cute as frick ✨
Rachel I need out fit details! How are you so dang cute!! ❤
That blue looks pretty on you
Love the floof!
You're adorable in that!!
I just love her!
omg i have those exact rollers!!
This is giving me major flashbacks! 🥹 The first video I ever watched of yours was a pincurl tutorial where your hair was short, and I think you still lived in an apartment. You only had like 3000 subscribers, and I remember stalking your channel daily for new videos. It's insane how much has changed. I'm so happy you're still here, and I am so proud of how far you've come. 🥰💗
You are adorable.
This is so cute! I love the maximum floof! ❤
Fish eta for hair...it's unique. I like it 🎀✨
