    Rick, looking very realistic. How long have you been in the hobby? Myself, I got my first train set when I was around 6, then by 15 I had three of them. When I turned 16 I became dedicated to model railroading and that was over 40 years ago. Keep on what you are doing I'm sure I'm not the only one that enjoys the variety of your videos.

    Nice job, I use 99% isopropyl alcohol to thin the Vallejo paints, it works great.

    Interesting how you can see more of your weathering job when you put that loco on your layout. Probably due to lights bouncing off elements. Real nice light weathering!!!

    I use 50% windscreen washer fluid with Vallejo and other acrylics. I mainly use the colours from their Rust, Stain & Streaking set with white for fading and some Com.art washes. For heavy rust and soot I use paint pens and a stipple brush. I don't use an air brush for weathering just various brushes. I find weathering very enjoyable some cars have taken a couple of hours! (the really rusty ones)

    Did you coat the engine with a matte finish before you started the weathering?

  • @socalscalemodels

    @socalscalemodels

    yes. flat matte before. I sometimes will put a final coat on also once all the weathing is done.
