Trevor would make a legendary pitching coach one day. This man possesses a treasure trove of knowledge and information unlike no other. I honestly believe Trevor was set up and ousted by MLB but this guy is way smarter than those who set him up. Yes Trevor is a unique individual but all that comes with the territory. This guy is a Legend in my opinion.

IMO the thumb under it is the main component. I've pitched for fun in rec leagues for years and years and I could never figure out why sometimes I could throw a decent breaking ball and sometimes I couldn't. I never used slo-mo video but since watching "how to" videos I noticed the grip and how MLB pitchers had their thumb under it like Trevor states. I've never thrown with that type of grip. As soon as I started gripping it with my thumb under the ball...holy smokes it made a huge difference in spin/ball movement. Thank you Trevor (and others) for showing pitch grips.

Hmmm. I threw mine like a fast ball with my top fingers on the horseshoe a little offset. Then I'd lift the pad part of my thumb off the ball, creating an axis for the ball to spin off when I released it. Resulted in a very late, hard, downward cut.
