I suspect at least part of it she recorded to the Broadway backing. The music they put in the movie, mostly in the first verse, does not mesh with her singing.

OK, that's an improvement. That song is my 100% favorite throughout the entire musical, because it's a song I can relate to personally, minus the ladyship verse, when they did in the film, I thought it was weird that they've changed the pitch for that song when they didn't bother with the other ones. But your take on it is definitely an improvement. 💯

For this one it's mixed. I don't have good enough audio of the new film to flesh out all the talking bits so it's both the Broadway cast singing and the movie cast. But it's almost always the Broadway instrumental.

no not really, it sounds amazing in this key for auli'i and i will always prefer it to fit the singer's range perfectly than force them to sing in a key that wasn't written for them (plus, the OG key was not sustainable and was horrible for barrett's vocal chords and you could definitely hear the strain in her voice when she was singing, so imo the original key was too high anyways)

I’m not usually one to criticize but the production on the movie versions of most of the songs is so weird?? They made it so diluted and way less energetic. Such an odd choice.

They chose to cast actors that were not strong enough singers and made the unfortunate realization too late that they still have to sing such as Cady who is not a strong singer and they decided to make the songs probably easier for her to sing and because instead of focusing on making actual Good songs that people will enjoy and listen to they wanted to focus on making songs that will be on the top 100 hits on the radio
