How I cured myself of chronic illness and reversed ageing | Darryl D'Souza | TEDxPanaji

NOTE FROM TED: This talk, which was filmed at a TEDx event, contains several assertions about diet that come from the speaker’s own understanding of nutrition. While some viewers may find advice provided in this talk to be helpful, please do not look to this talk for medical advice. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/t...
Can you cure your self from life threatening health problems? Can you reverse ageing? Darryl D'Souza, an expert in natural therapy and pioneer in integrated wellness and spirituality talks about how he reversed ageing by following simple laws of nature about food and nutrition. How the food that we eat today has become our poison and how we can reclaim our lives and good health. Darryl is the author of "Become Healthy or Extinct", a book about reversing chronic illnesses with integrated natural therapy. The book has followers in over 150 countries. An engineer by profession, but drawn into the world of natural therapies after failed attempts by modern medicine to cure him of some serious illnesses at a young age. Darryl is a pioneer in Integrated Wellness & Spirituality and conducts life-transforming talks & workshops that expose the real causes of widespread sickness in society and he gives you breakthrough ideas on how to become part of the solution instead of being part of the problem. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

100% correct. I was lost in a quagmire of Chronic Illnesses. Too many to list. For 7 years that Chronic Disease curve ascended. 19 meds a day and in excruciating pain with fibromyalgia. Depression, anxiety. Wheel chair bound. Morbidly obese. A year ago I started a vegan diet with no sugar or wheat. Within 8 months I was off all meds, lost 34kgs (174lbs) and have no chronic disease of any kind. I’m healthy and energetic. I’ve started studying a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics to learn the science behind my transformation. Whole plant based foods are my life now and I’ve never felt better. I’m 55 👍🏼❤️🇦🇺

Translation -- If you eat things only in their fully natural condition, then you will not be tempted to eat when you're not truly hungry, nor to eat things that are not good for you. The temptation to eat excessively comes from processed food that comforts you emotionally like a drug because it's so sweet, salty, etc. Also, such foods often contain toxins as well. So just don't have them in your house. Stop the temptation to binge on cookies in the middle of the night by having only raw vegetables or raw fish in your fridge. Then you will only eat when you are truly hungry and truly should.

Bev H -- Yes! If you go without sugary foods for a while, they will no longer taste good to you. But you can get there gradually. You don't need to stop sugar suddenly (altho you could). Most people will have more success reducing their desire for sugar gradually. For example, insted of a full glass of juice, have a glass with 3/4 juice and 1/4 water, then several days or a week later, go down to 2/3 juice and 1/3 water. Then half and half, etc. But you can't do this with cheesecake because it can't be diluted. You have to actually get, or make, a cheesecake that's less sweet. This is not easy. But you can dilute ice cream (with milk).

Bottom line, what Darryl is saying is eat organic natural food at the right time and not when you feel like it according to your moods. He is also saying eat in moderation and not in excess. excess of not just food but anything else for that matter is harmful to the body. after a while, you will know what kind of food your wants. your body will tell you. in my case, i know what i can and cant eat. my body tells me and so i stay away from certain foods. if i do indulge , its very minimal as well. i eat more white meat like fish than red meat. veggies and fruit juice daily does wonders especially fruit juice freshly juiced and not the ones in boxes and packets. Exercise moderately depending on your body type and the work that you do.Stay from stress, forgive others , dont harm anyone , learn to be insensitive to what others say is a sure way to happiness and dont expect anything from anyone. then you wont be disappointed. be humble and compassionate and serve others with no expectations.this is what i do. and Yes i do look 10 years younger than my age and more active because everyone i meet tells me so. when i tell them my real age, they are surprised! so i guess it works.

Sometime back I was watching a video on nutrition where the presenter said - How do you know what food to eat or what is healthy to eat? He gave an example - whatever food you can grab from market or shop, pick it and imagine you are going to show it to your grandma. For sure Grandma won't recognize processed packed food like energy bars, fried packed food like chips etc. But if you show her a ripe papaya, a guava, grapes, apple, orange, lentils, rice she will surely recognize it. At the end he suggested to eat food that your grandma will recognize. I believe this gentleman is also giving the same message. Enjoy your good health, well being !!! Health is Wealth.

Saddens me to watch our young ones go through this cancer . Stay away from sugars and limit what kind of alcohol your drinking . Drink red wine not beer , but don't over do it . Buy p h strips at pharmacy and watch if your alkaline or acidity so you no what you need in your body . At first I was skeptical now I'm convinced my plant based diet is working

If you don't cook Vitamin K, it won't be available for absorption. Don't blind follow this moron. He is again going to be sick very soon.

VERY good explanation on nutrition and the laws of nature, as someone with ibs who's seen countless public doctors (NHS here in UK) and one functional medicine doctor, it's nice to see you echo pretty much what my functional doctor told me, even the program I'm on now is try to eat as natural as possible and have a wide variety of foods. @@infoimpact My skin is generally ok too. I had horrific pain symptoms in 2020/ early 2021 - I suspect I caught covid (I work in healthcare so very likely I was exposed) & I've been on methotrexate 10 years + and also an anti TNF. However I'm doing ok now (long story) - still sticking with essentially a vegan diet (I do eat fish sometimes though) & some exercise has helped - pushing through the pain -I couldn't bend my knee when walking for approx 8 months, so forced myself to last summer with just 100 paces a day and gradually increased. Now I can walk almost 'normally' - it improved a lot in a few weeks. wearing crocs and orthotics has really helped too so I now have no foot pain - 4 years ago it could be unbearable to put trainers on sometimes. You could give methotrexate a go, it might get you through a bad patch. My doctors think I'm on 20mg a week but I've reduced it down to 10mg myself. It's fine art balancing drugs, diet, exercise - a lot is mental attitude too - belief and finding a reason to feel good about yourself and enjoy life. Good luck!
