Perfectly executed strategy, the idea that you tell us when to study and how much time to give each exam, which notes ,etc is all amazing ! tysm! I'm also going with Mark Meldrum for level 1. Hey Timothy, glad you found it useful! Re 2024, I'm not super clued up about the detail, however I understand there has been a transition to learning modules (which should be more digestible + less overwhelming) and a change (particularly at L1) to newer, more relevant topics / use case (e.g. geopolitics, use of spreadsheets etc). Sounds to me like they've made it more relevant and digestible on the whole, which is a good thing! Good luck, you're in good hands with MM

    Hi Harris! Thank you for the excelent content and info provided. For Level 1, using the Market Meldrum video lectures + the IFT notes, I don’t need to read through the information on the CFA pdf curriculum? I mean reading all the chapters. For instance, I could go through the lecture videos, then the review notes, then mock exams, and only if I don’t understand a topic read more from the CFA curriculum chapters just to understand the information. I mean this level 1 since it is more based on practicing the questions

    Hello, great video. I trust you can give sound advice given your pass scores: What can you suggest to me given that I did not pass the Lv1 first try and second try. Second try I changed how I studied: (i) I gave myself more hours and (ii) and incorporated MM and significantly increased my understanding of the content. Yet still not pass (mocks were 55%-60%). What would you do different? My own self reflection is I did not memorize enough formulas for fixed income and derivatives and eq. Any suggestions, would help. Thank you! I am so inpatient on passing I am seeing if I do something radically different next time like paying for live lessons.

    Okay two observations: i) how many practice questions did you do from the question bank? They’re very representative of the real exam, and there’s c3000 - do as many as you can. You need to target 70-80% in the mocks; ii) ask your yourself why something is the way it is (ie don’t just memorise, step back and ask how this formula or fact ties into the whole topic). You need to understand from 1st principles. Formulas do matter, as do definitions. Check out IFT worlds level 1 notes (they’re free) for good summaries - good luck

    Hey - so I can’t recall my exact average score, but I’d say it was around 75 - 80%, but bare in mind I didn’t answer them all from the top of my head (I referenced my notes where necessary, which is what I’d recommend). The portal question are definitely harder than the real exam in the sense they’re less direct / test for understanding rather than exam readiness. The real exam questions are more direct (clearer what they’re asking for + less info to read). Hope that helps

    Hey Haaris, Thanks for the valuable video, Im retrying L2, but need a new strategy and yours interested me a lot. How do go through the material and questions, did you watch MM video, take some notes along the side withing his provided notes, then read the IFT notes as a reinforcement? What about questions after each reading, EOC reading (from CFA textbook) or more Qbanks for faster 1st overview? Thanks a lot!

  • @HaarisZamir

    @HaarisZamir

    8 ай бұрын

    Hey, so yes broadly what you’ve described is what I did. I’d watch MM lectures intently (to understand, not to write down), and have the IFT notes there, annotating wherever MM provided additional context etc. I’d work through the whole curriculum, then for the most complex materials, I’d watch the full lectures again and for the simpler stuff, straight to reviews. I’d also watch seminars at this point for more complex material (you don’t need to watch them all). Questions wise, I didn’t attempt any until the second review, but that’s up you - some people like to reinforce their understanding straight away with EoC / Q-bank questions, which is a decent strategy too. Overall, start higher level, then drill deeper / do questions / watch reviews. Good luck

    I probably wouldn’t reference them during timed mocks, as they’re supposed to be for the last week or so before the exam, at which point you should hopefully know the curriculum quite well. Make the mistakes then go back and check curriculum. No problem referring to curriculum during practice Qs.

    At this point I wouldn't do any detailed reviews of curriculum, instead focus on review videos / summary notes, and mainly do questions. For L1, the practice Qs are quite representative of real exam, so if you do lots of practice you'll be in a good place. Roughly 5 days before exam, do the mocks. Then note down what you struggled with, and review that. Last 2 days before exam no mocks, slow down the pace and review the concepts you struggle with most, then rest. I have a CFA L1 advice vid coming soon.

    Nope but you do need to have at least 3 years of experience in a relevant field to complete the charter, but that can be done in tandem with your studies

    Difficult to answer this as it depends on how hard the exam is + how strong the candidates are. Generally if you score >85%, you’ve done very well

    You can actually do the charter in a lot less than 3-5 years! The exams these days are administered a lot more often. If i pass my level 3 next year it will have been in less than 18 months! CFA is not only cheaper than masters but also quicker.
