HOW I COLOR MY DRAWINGS | DIGITAL ART HACKS
I apologize if this is the worst tutorial you have ever seen lmao
i also forgot to add, the time it took for the first illustration is around 5-6 hrs while the second is around 4-5 hours i made the 2 illustrations in the span of 3 days
I tried to make this as beginner friendly as possible but i really suck at this but i hope this still helps

I am not really a begginer, but I do get stuck at the coloring stage rather often, so watching someone else with a similar structure (Separating everything in different layers and playing with the layer types) explain their process is very motivating and helped me complete some illustrations I wasn't sure how to color, so thank you! Comparing our processes I was able to add some steps to my own that I ended up liking a lot.

sameee, before seeing this video, i literally tried doing dectective work to try and understand niro's workflow💀THATS how obsessed i am with the art style (ALSO, LES GOOOO I WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE G-PEN🥳🥳🥳)
FINALLY someone who explains their layers thoroughly!! I've just started to use the multiply layer for shading because it's the only layer trick I somewhat understood from videos that didn't explain that part. 5:33 is my new cheat sheet These techniques really help add depth to something that feels lacking ✨ Ty
Finally an angel who explains every tool as possible, especially the blending layer modes. Thanks!
FINALLY SOMEONE PROPERLY AND EASILY EXPLAINS WHAT CLIPPING IS TO ME😭😭😭😭
I love how you go over and explain multiple processes and explain the pros and cons of it and not just stick to one! Really shows the versatility in ur art!! Ty so much this video was very helpful!
It’s refreshing to find a gate keeping free KZreadr so many people with hold information for what ever reason and this was straight forward and genuine hands down most informative straight away
across all the videos on youtube about digital coloring, your videos is one of the best among them, man i dont know how to put it into words but, thankyou so muchhh niro!
3:42 Thank you. This is exactly what I need. I couldn't find a single tutorial teaching how to organize layers for coloring.
I feel like I’m the only person (or one of very few) out there who gets more enjoyment from doing the lineart than coloring lol
Your tutorials and advice really helped me get out of the art block I've been in, keep up the good work
Use simple brushes when you are a beginner. G pen, water colour brush, air brush, eraser. Multiply + colour burn for shadow. Overlay + colour dodge for highlight. Selection Tools Layer system After finishing base colour, use clipping mask to do the rendering. Tips: Use both soft and hard shadows and try balancing them.
As someone who struggled going from traditional to digital, this helped me so much, Amazing tutorial!
Appreciate all the effort you put into making this video, I'm currently starting with drawing recently, and as a beginner, there is a bunch of stuff I need to learn more, and hope that I can bring my imagination art to life in the near future and share it to everyone else. Hope you can keep sharing your knowledge.
Your way of editing and the visuals make it soo easy to understand, thank you
you are honestly one of my favorite artist and your tips are the most helpful and assuring out of all videos out there.
Finally a video that featured kinds of things that I still to date don't understand, but not anymore, subscribing to you was worth the 3 seconds
I'm very grateful seeing that color blending stuff, i'm newbies on digital art, seeing this really useful, thanks !!!
Your video is so helpful! I always got confused with colour theory and blending layer modes😅 was tired searching for a video that actually help me improve at coloring as a beginner and damn! You explained everything so well. Thanks!
“The art that the ai makes is the kind of art i want to make with my own hands” that’s the perfect way to say it.
i love making arts, specially making the composition and doing the linearts. The biggest problem i had so far is color theory and blending mode technique and tricks, which is the reason i prefer to go black and white art. This helps me a lot on understanding the basis and steps! tysm for that!!
this video is so freaking good, its perfect on what a beginner needs to know! honestly deserves 1mil views

Amazing video. Absolutely perfect for the information I was looking for. Great job
Thank-you so much! Just getting into digital art and you've made it so much more approachable for me I'm really begining to enjoy my art thank-you!!!
i use ai as a reference too! im not able to see things in my imagination clearly so ai helps me see what i was imagining more clearly! its never exactly what i want cause ai usually isnt the best but with the visual example im able to actually see what i want to draw in my head! its like a crutch for when my brain isnt working its best. its also helping me learn how to have better composition since thats something i was struggling with learning! for a while i was very frustrated about ai and the things it could create but i decided to use to my advantage as a tool instead! aside from the people abusing it to replace real artists, it can teach us a lot as human artists!

what is the ai that he uses and where to get those images?
I can say that this is one of most comprehensive tutorial I've seen. Though I started digital art using ibispaint on my phone, Trying clip studio paint was quite uneasy. Thank you BTW, I got some connected fragments of insight.
wait. ive never thought to try and ink hair before coloring. that looks so fun gotta give it a try
such a simple and easy to follow tutorial. Thank you!
Thank you, this is the video that helped me understand the layering system!
I always wanted to do the hazy effect on my drawing about never understood but Thankyou so much for these amazing art tips! 😭❤️🙌🏼
This is a great video, you actually break down what brushes, layers, and blending modes etc. kudos
Thank you! For including information about features in different layers, because those are the things that we tend to miss out on.
You don't understand how much this helped me since others advices don't really clicked w me, tysm!
Blending modes can be difficult and you might feel like you need to remember them all but realize blending modes just change the color of things. They are quick color changes rather than manually changing out colors for certain affects aka color picking. Thats the best thing about learning color theory is all the cool art you look up to can be done by simply choosing the right color. IMO the better your color picking skills are the easier it is to paint in general.
Thanks bro,, i needed this.....i was having trouble with how to use the blending modes for shadows lighting.
Gosh this was hella insightful😳😭finally I understand the workflows and a bit of techniques thank u sm😭🤍🥺
I use ai as inspiration. First, ask chatgpt what to draw, then I copy and paste what it told me to draw into a thing that makes prompts into images and use those images as a reference
Finally a guide that explains everything, or at least I hope it does, will check it out latter
pro tip: everything in the edit->tonal correction menu can also be added as a separate layer from the layer->tonal correction menu, so you don’t have to duplicate and merge everything to add a gradient map
Bro i love your art, you giving a lot of good tips too, thank you so much
the most clear tutor I've ever seen 😭😭😭
I have a better understanding now on how to use tools and gimmicks in CSP. Thank you so much
Thanks for the video, is absolutely good to know other ways to make art
new sub! i was very suprised to see how similar your brush choices were to mine lol!! your process is very fun to watch, and i love how you color
pretty helpful i am at semi old age getting back into drawing i think it was the cybperpunk edgerunners honestly that sparked my intresst in it again tbh been using clip art as well and i had no idea the person used it as well lol. but the color tips are really intressting and straight forward . ive been using ai kinda for the same reason you do for reference but not for stealing since i dont publish it anywhere. it kinda helps to find a style you wanna stray for in a sense.
Thank you so much. Ypur tutorial is so simple and quite understandable.
Your tips realy help me a lot! Thank you very very much :)
thankyou for this amazing tutorial, this help me a lot
I like your makima painting! Solid work 😄
Wow i always get surprise when u upload man, idk how but everytime u upload u just upload what i struglling is 😂
I'm glad to hear you found the information helpful! As you explore different art styles and techniques, how do you decide which approach to use for a particular illustration?
I def agree with brushes not mattering, though i think brushes kinda improve your art. It might not help your understanding of anatomy or technical skills but sometimes I feel like a brush that makes the certain texture, shape etc of the lines that you want, will make you want to draw more. Like for me I like more soft round/square or painty brushes so it makes my art enjoyable because I have a specific brush I like

I really Love You!, you teach me everything that i ever want know! thx!!!!!
Really great video! Thank you
THANK YOU. I’ve been looking for a video on Layers and how to use “fancy” stuff like overlays etc. like I just want to learn how to color digitally, but when I search coloring for digital art it’s just color theory which I don’t need cuz I already know 😭
Hi, I'm new here, and I'm getting my first drawing tablet and I've watched some of your vids, and I never drew before in my life, but you got me to want to start, so thanks 😊
Godsend demo! Ive had a really hard time finding a video that explained how to use blending modes this simple and effectively.
That's so awesome. It's helped me a lot. Also can I ask you how you chose the color for basic base illustration? Or adding some rim effect on hair? Thanks man.
I learned so much OMG THANK YOUUUU
I LOVE YOUR WORK
thanks you for sharing these tips!
yu explain it so well and i love your work. i dont think vetern artist be knowing just how alien the UI of alot of these art softwares be looking to newer artist and understanding basic things like how many layers do i need to have for the most controlled outcome or how many colors we should be using without it looking like unicorn barf. what im trying to say seeing the work flow and other ppl's order of operations, makes all the difference. keep up the good work
Thank you telling us that you used A.I as a reference. I think that was the purpose of A.I but people are using it for commercial use :( Thank you for the video!
Subsribed!... Nice tutorial. Love your style
Thanks for the tips mate
dw about using ai ; we stealing back 😤😤
i like this artist. subscribed!
YOUR VIDEOS ARE SOOOO GOOD
you are an absolute legend
"Colour study" what you call is actually just how artist pick appealing colours and how they arrange them sort of a puzzle. Values is what we need to work on
Great tutorial video, would you be able to explain how you choose the values in your colours? I know you mentioned you can check them with a white + colour layer but how do you determine whether it's too light or dark? For me typically I err on the side of too dark because blending will soften up the transitions and pull it back into light but i'd like to hear your thoughts
@niroxious
10 ай бұрын
A general tip I could give is training your eyes to see if a value is good or not. to train it, you could look at a bunch of references in black and white and see how they usually look. After looking at enough references, you will develop the instincts to tell good values.
The way you draw face shape + eyes is really good. I'm trying to learn how to draw this shape, but it comes out very triangular and awkward when I do it. I suspect there's a lot of nuance to the way you bend the cheek lines that I'm not understanding yet. Thanks for the tutorial. One thing I don't understand - you apply multiply shadow to the entire piece, and then erase it? Or do you apply multiply but what looks like 'erased multiply' is in fact another blending mode painted over the multiply?
Great video! 😀
11:00 YOURE SO REAL FOR THIS. While my opinion is not the exact same as yours: what i do like about AI art is the composition, the randomness in details. Ive seen many images where on the shadows, where light isnt supposed to hit, theres light spots and for some reason i like it. It sometimes inspires me, giving me ideas on things i could try drawing and makes me want to take those images to study them and adapt them to my style since i really like it! And the placement of characters with the background... so many details ''perfectly'' made, i want that. While i DO NOT support AI ''artists'', i dont see a problem when using them as references. Of course, i dont really enjoy the idea of art being stolen for these, but theres nothing that anyone can do since its sadly inevitable.

I JUST COMMENTED THIS! Except i use ai differently. In procreate I’ll create some color blobs, then run it through an app like AI Mirror and use what it comes up with as reference. Especially if I want to sketch a certain character in a certain pose. I think it’s such an underrated medium to use
@vivi-tv1dk

But what AI is that? The ones I see are always sloppy and basic. This images look cool I wanna use them

@@vivi-tv1dk perhcance character generator is really good for creating your own images, ai mirror is really good for using preexisting photography in a plethora of different styles

Thanks, man
Very good tutorial
Thank you for this
This is amazing holy shet
Оп, наконец нашел видос где разбираются слои. Спасибки
I'm a beginner at digital drawing, and I never colored anything when I was drawin traditionally, it's been so hard to learn this digital tools :(
Thank you
Your inspiration is Ilya Kuvshinov?! I absolute love his art and I discovered him when the sing yesterday for me anime came out in 2020. He’s apparently a huge fan of the show and even animated for the anime and drew the illustrations for ED 2 or 4 I forgot. Amazing dude just like you :>
so back when i started out drawing all the way back in 2013 i used to study from anime screencaps. they looked great to me at the time but little did i know the anatomy was severely flawed and thats what i saw several years later when i looked back at my old anime reference images. Same thing with the ai images. they might look fine to you now but for one they've got very inconsistent lighting and cant do accurate reflections at all. they often dynt know how to transition between certain fat / muscle insertions on the body etc so be careful when studying from them.
11:35 "i mean just take a look at this... idek how to feel about this" sounded so dead AHAHAAHHA me too man 😿
Thank you so much
when an illust making video bc i still struggle with layers order and efficient ways to paint, also some other techniques plss. very helpful video!!
Pls make a full tutorial for head structure
you are a godsend
thank you omg
Ty
Hello NIRO Do you separate multiply layer for each part like face, hair, etc. or just one multiply layer cover the whole image ? thank you.
Cool!
Learning how to color w AI is okay but be aware it doesn’t really follow fundamentals. It combines several pieces and can possibly have light sources that are inconsistent.
Do you use the g-pen as it is, or did you make any changes to it? And thank you for making this video! ❤
