My issue is that when I get my acne cleared. As soon as I think I’m going to target my hyperpigmentation, another acne pimple pops up. I feel like I have hyperpigmentation on top of hyperpigmentation.

Glycolic acid is too strong for deeper skin of color. You NEED to protect your skin with SPF regardless of what routine you have, esp if you have hyperpigmentation. Sun/UV ray exposure is the ULTIMATE reason why you’ll constantly have hyperpigmentation. They won’t fade if this isn’t the last step of your routine - FYI I’m a black Esthetician 💕

A great pre-cleanse substitute is micellar water! If you’re acne prone go oil free and use a gel cleanser even if it’s not dermalogica. Is it BHA? Great video!

Excellent skincare breakdown. And your skin looks great! I'm in my 40's and I have dealt with acne prone skin since puberty. I can attest that Dr. Dennis Gross products are the truth. I have used every strength of his peeling pads and they all work great. I had some hyperpigmentation on the right side of my chin due to hormonal imbalances during that time of the month and I bought his Glow Kit on sale and it's been very good at fading those dark spots. He is pricey though, but worth every penny!! I stress for black skin for us to get into Vitamin C serums and collagen. Also, get into those peptides and niacinamide. Retinol is excellent, and I use Beta Hydroxy, but just make sure of your skin sensitivity. I also use Dr. Dennis Gross Texture Renewal Serum. It's pricey, but effective as well. I didn't know that black people needed sunscreen either. I had it in my mind that we are descendants from the Motherland, we got this! BUT NO!! We do need to protect this melanin and the sun isn't playing with anyone. I was going to get Naomi Osaka's brand, Kinlo, which is affordable. However, I decided on Elta MD Skincare UV Clear. It's SP46 and it's especially for acne prone skin and hyperpigmentation. I bought it at Dermastore. I haven't worked up myself to get a chemical peel yet, but I'm going to do it later in the year. I can't wait to see your vlog!!

Well said man, I’m going through the same thing. it’s pretty devastating waking up in the morning to see your skin all damaged and sad. I’ve had clear skin my whole life until 15 because of puberty and it’s has been very hard this past year sense it’s been very progressive and stubborn. We’ll get though it though man.

Not only do i have acne and hyperpigmentation on my face, but i also have bad acne on my chest, neck, throat, and my whole back. I also have hyperpigmentation on my body too. I have so many skin issues right now it’s overwhelming. I have already bought the products she showed in the video and it definitely has reduced my acne and my skin looks more clearer and smoother so far which i am happy about. I use Cerave SA cleanser bar for rough and bumpy skin or Cerave SA body wash for rough and bumpy skin, Eucerin advanced repair lotion and Sea and ski Beyond UV anti aging sunscreen lotion SPF 50 (the fragrance free version). I've been recommended and read really great reviews of these lotions: Amlactin daily moisturizing lotion, Cerave SA lotion for rough and bumpy skin and Cerave SA cream for rough and bumpy skin.

Yes to The Ordinary products! Will definitely add the others to my cart. I love B-Oil and any of the Retinols from The Ordinary 🤗 Love BG Sunscreen as well!

Same here. Just starting same journey. 1 week in to using Neutrogena oil free acne wash with 2% salicylic acid, acne free oil free Benzoyl peroxide, then acne free adapalene 0.1% retinods, followed by cerave pm facial moisturizer lotion ultra lightweight oil free. The morning fAB cleanser, Murad vitamin c glycolic brightening serum, filled by cerave am facial moisturizer lotion with glycerin then Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Water Resistant Sunscreen SPF 45. Skip days using vitamin c and adapalene, and skip days using salicylic scrub replacing with FAB cleanser. Gonna give it some time to see if theres an improvement to the acne on face and hyperpigmented area. Any recommendations welcomed!

I also recommend The Ordinary: Niacinamide and Zinc it’s really good for oil control throughout the day without drying out your skin

I previously had Dermalogica and opted for la roche Posay because it’s cheaper. I’ll just say I’m going back to dermalogica because it’s really the only thing that has worked for me and kept my skin looking plump and fresh

For me, I wash my face twice at night, once in the morning with an exfoliating brush for about a minute and follow that up with the ordinary hyaluronic acid serum + Paula's choice salicylic acid + dark spot corrector. Ider the name of it. I also take birth control pills because I get hormonal acne so that helps to keep everything at bay. It's not too sunny here but I have a cerave face sunscreen as well but I only use it if I know I'll be outside. When I was using retinol, it caused a bunch of small bumps for me so I removed it from my routine

My Black esthetician also recommended dermalogica for me as well . I like the daily exfoliant and pre cleanse, etc. I also found wonderful hydrating products with clean ingredients from burlington. I have a similar routine to yours (minus steaming and peels) and have been seeing great results !

I think the key to using these products is knowing how to use them. Like making sure you have a complete routine with them. Not using all of them at the same time... And also letting your skin breathe. I had issues with acne and hyperpigmentation tooo but when I tell you my skin is it's best and it's not because of buying products but because of the knowledge I had before getting my hands on them

@@Chinezerem followed all of the above and still….breakouts. It has to be internal or something bc I’ve tried EVERYTHING. I refuse to take medications (prescribed by dermatologist etc) and I’ve tried esthetician’s. Baby my skin is just bad lol. Nothing has helped 😞

i just learned that about hylaronic acid about a month ago, i was using it on dry skin and never understood why my face still always felt dry. i’m surprised it doesn’t mention in the directions to use hyaluronic acid only on damp skin!!
