    There is a different way to start the siphon without sucking on the tube. Just put the gravel vac under water so it’s full and point it up and lift it out of the tank for a second to get the water flowing and put it back in. There are plenty of videos out there showing how to do that.

    Upgrade to a python gravel vac. You can also use it for filling up the tank as well not just vacuum but you need a faucet within range of a garden hose but its very worth it. When filling check tank temp with a digital meat thermometer then go to faucet open valve on python(vacuum mode) adjust taps until temp from faucet is same as tank...then make sure hose end is clamped into tank and switch valve on python to fill tank....monitor progress then shut off taps and then add tap water conditioner to aquarium.

    For those without a bulb... ready your receptacle, place a good amount of your recieving tubing into the water so it's water logged. Block other end of tube with palm. Pull out enough water logged tubing out so it's below tank level, then release palm blocked end into receptacle.

    . . . You could always fill the whole tube with water plug one end with your thumb, lower it below the waterline and boom. . . Siphon. I swallowed a couple of tadpoles siphoning my pool as a kid. Took a while to figure that trick out.

  • @sethfeldpausch4337
    @sethfeldpausch43372 ай бұрын

    For anyone without a special primer button, don't use your mouth to start the siphon! Just submerge the whole hose under water and ensure all the air is out of the lines, then put your thumb over the pour spout, and leave the end in the tank, as soon as you reach your dirty water bucket remove your thumb from the hose and the water will come pouring out! No need to risk getting poopy in your mouth😂

    I would just be careful with gravel tanks as gravel can carry a lot of beneficial bacteria in it, especially if said tanks only have like a carbon filter package for their filter. If so I would only vacuum the sections where the fish eat, or are often hiding.

    How many fish can you add to a 10 gall fish tank . I am considering getinging one but it is very expensive

  • @garg4531

    @garg4531

    2 ай бұрын

    Depends entirely on the fish in question. It’s worth noting that most small fish need at least 20 gallons, but a 10 gallon can work well for a single betta fish, some shrimp, or a group of chili rasboras, especially with plenty of live plants to provide cover and help maintain water quality.

  • @Shadow-jk6ip

    @Shadow-jk6ip

    2 ай бұрын

    10 gal is not enough for goldfish. But you can keep a single male betta in 10 gals. Or you could keep small school of rasboras like chili rasboras. Guppies can also work, if you want something more expensive and cooler, you can get an endler. You could always add shrimps into the tank if you want.

    How did priming a siphon without a pump and without getting fish tank water in your mouth, become a lost art? Submerge tube until filled with water. Cover one end of tube with your thumb. Extract covered end, and place in bucket lower than water level. remove thumb and watch water flow through the magic of gravity.

    You know you don’t need to use your mouth. Just place one side of the tube into the water and let the water goes in. Once the water is in, cover the hole on both ends of the tube. Place one end of the tube over a bucket and let go of that end and lift the other out of the water and let go of that end. Once you see the water is rushing to the bucket. Place the tube back into the water before all the water in the tube is out. It’s actually easier to do than reading my comment.
