Why is everyone worried about the shed, the biggest problem is the concreters, they did not put plastic under the slab, it is the most important part of the whole job as it stops moisture entering the shed (as the concrete is porous) , so now you have a 6x6 humidity camber, hope you are not putting a car in there.

It’s hard to understand why these shed companies can’t make their instructions simpler. Not only paperwork but a full KZread walkthrough has got to be in their best interests.

That’s what I don’t understand. They have a video but it’s terrible and over 10yrs old. Wouldn’t take much to do one and print proper instructions.

@@AddictedtoTools I've seen the videos from Stratco and they are rubbish. I suspect they do this on purpose so you feed their contractors. Classic ploy. I've never been a big fan of Stratco to be honest. I feel they're always overpriced. You really need to shop around. There are plenty of shed companies out there.

I definitely agree. It’s hard to know what’s good though. There’s not many in-depth reviews overall which was a reason I wanted to show what I found. I originally had my last smaller shed with stratco and really liked the actually quality of the build. I’ve seen others that are cheaper and weren’t as structurally sound if that makes sense. Have you seen any that are cheaper but still good quality, I’m sure they exist. Unfortunately the main part of selling is marketing and I don’t see the smaller guys(who maybe better) marketing as hard, so aren’t being seen. Cheers for the input 👍

You’re not wrong. I bought just a simple garden tool shed from stratco; and the assembly instructions may as well have been in French. Extra screws in some parts to give you that sense of doubt that you may have missed something or done it wrong; and a piece of flash capping to add at the end that didn’t even appear in the instructions! I have a friend who works for bunnings and recons that all these sheds for stratco; bunnings etc are all stamped out of the same factory in China; and the amount of returns they’d get (and still do) from customers just tearing their hair out and dumping it all on the desk / floor at returns and demanding refunds - so you’re not alone. These are notoriously bad for the vague instructions. But yeah; mines still going strong many years later so was worth doing - but still is a memorable experience all this time later Recon you’re onto something there; making it terrible so you have to pay for help.. or they just don’t care. They need someone like dyson to write their instruction booklets. Barely needs words and can be used universally. Oh - and nice build btw. You did well; and it looks great

I bought a 150 sq metre shed last year and had them install it. It cost $11,000 for the install. The installer was/is a subcontracter and he told me he got $7k to install it and he had an electric scissor lift on the job. He had a young bloke and his wife and it took them about 6 days to put it up in total, we did have a bit of bad weather that delayed things. Included in the installation cost was a truck crane that came out for a few hours to put up the frame and a large 4wd scissor lift for the week, which I believe rents out for about $1k a week. The shed kit was $34.5k, total of about $45K for shed and install, plus earthworks, slab and electrical. Unless you have experience in putting up sheds, particularly larger ones, dont mess about, get the professionals to do it. They know all the tips and tricks, and will save you a tonne of time and aggravation. There were a couple of bits missing in the kit and a few bits extra. The installer was able to identify that at the outset and got it sorted with shed supplier immediately, the last thing you want to do is find that sort of stuff out the hard way and then have to deal with the shed company and wait for the stuff to arrive. bear in mind it will take youa lot longer than the pros to put it up, and while you are doing that you cannot be out earning money on your real job so the money you "save" putting it up yourself is questionable. This guy is a professional tradesman and even he is umming and ahhhing about the value of putting it up himself.

My dads sister had brought a shed last year but when all the bad weather and flooding was taking place it impacted the tradespeople during installation. They told her it would cost an additional 18k because the flood waters damaged the concrete slab when it was poured so they had to break it all up and take it to the tip and start the whole process over. I would suggest not to trust their company in getting them to build the shed as it costed a fortune for it to be built and they didn’t take any responsibility for choosing to pour the slab when bad weather was expected.

Totally disagree. If you have the time to install it yourself it’s a great learning experience for the experienced builder. Overpaying a massive profiting corporation is the biggest problem with todays society. Enabling big companies to stronghold industries for massive profit is ridiculous

Small hack for the main purlins. Build them all on the ground first one on top of the other and bolt them hard then Tek screw the plates to the purlin pieces so they don't move. stand the whole thing up and tie off with guy ropes while you put some cross purlins on. it makes sure they are all the same dimensions. I'm also surprised for a 6x6 slab that the grano's didn't run relief cuts in it.

I've had my Stratco she'd up for 7 years now, the one thing I'm glad I went with was insulation throughout

Definitely need to do a video on the pool, it looks great already.. and I’m looking at one for my small yard so I will want to look at your process for getting it

Nice vid mate - I can recommend insulating the shed as they turn into ovens. Before I did my 6x6m shed it was 52 degrees inside and after it was 27 degrees (Darwin) Well done. :)

​@adamdrury4455 I used that sheet aluminium looking insulation in mine. Helps a bit but still gets proper hot in summer. Have an extraction fan on the roof as well. I also sheeted mine with marine ply inside and painted for a nicer look

I feel ya ! Found a kit cheap on marketplace for my old man. Turns out it had been stored in the sun for years and the instructions had perished so we went in to a Stratco dealer taking photos of a shed to get an idea how the shit went together. Was painful and took forever

What a bloody good job mate. We had aircell insulation sheets and hanging office ceiling with neon lights in ours and both work out really well. Space saving and cool extremely well in hot Australian summer. I went overboard and installed 2 whirlybirds as well. Hat off to both you and your lady. Happy new year

Champion! I really needed this clip. I bought a 6x10 shed on Gumtree (I won’t tell you the price, you’d cry. I went with Ranbuild too. It's no use to you now but I found their shed kit to be great. Agree on the mobile scaffolding WITH locking wheels too. Great work, keep at it. p.s. Love the socks at 10:15. Not many people go to the trouble of colour matching their socks to their ladder ;)

Looks good mate and you did a really good job installing it. I had a 12m x 5m shed installed by Stratco 2 years ago and they installed it in a day and it cost me 3k for the installation.

Wow, I can't believe the concreters barrowed that whole slab. I had my shed built a few years ago from groundworks to erection, and the professionals make it look so easy. I went with a Ranbuild shed, and used their subbie concreters and erectors'. They all worked together well. The concretor's set the post mounts in the slab reo. As a young bloke, I built a few of my own carports and sheds, but I'm too old for that now. I did a time-lapse of the complete build , it's on my channel. Good job on doing it yourself.

Awesome, I’ll have to check it out👌 Yeah we’ve done all our concrete with barrows as there’s a problem with concrete trucks not arriving(happened once for the shed). If we get a pump in we still have to pay for the pump which is around $1300. Safer option to barrow. I don’t mind doing it. 👍

Hey mate, not sure if you cleaned out those chemset holes into the slab … if you cleaned them thoroughly then you’ll be golden but if not, I’d strongly suggest dragging out the hardware, re-drilling and doing those fixings all over again. Alternatively, extra brackets and bolts on the backs/sides of the posts would do the same job. Then thoroughly clean the holes out before epoxying the new bolts in. Any dust residue in the holes will absolutely ruin the chemset’s strength (plenty of tests on KZread to see what I’m talking about).

We put up a shed years ago and I always remember my mate Shaun saying the bit extra you spend on a easy to install shed far out ways to man hours of fluffing around with the macano set on steroids that the cheeper brands make . It pays to have a look at few already built to see the idiosyncrasys of each brand .Great video mate thanks for sharing.

Done a brilliant job. I've done a few builds and if you're assembling based on their information, you're in for some trouble! Like you said, unless you're handy on the tools and have the right gear you'd be better off getting them to do it.

i'm no structural engineer , but i'm really surprised there is no joist , truss , or knee brace type structural member to stop the roof "pushing out" the walls. Great video . i look forward to your lighting and insulation solutions

I built a 8x18 mtr shed last year by myself, it wasn't a stratco kit but was another big name here in Perth, same thing no instructions I ended up morphing different instructions from different suppliers including stratco, if I was to do it again I'll definitely pay the $7000 install cost 😀

I'm a retired shed builder 30 years of experience. First up, 10k for that is crazily expensive and so is 4k to erect it. Stratco has ALWAYS been over the top with their prices and I would never buy from them on principal. You did a great job considering it's not your trade. A standard 6mtrx6mtr used to take 2 of us two days comfortably and the concrete was always done after the shed was erected.

Prices have gone up in the last few years right across the board. I bought a Fair Dinkum shed a few years ago (6m x 3m) was over 4 grand so 10K for a 6m x 6m is about right.

@@vesza yeah its common to simply have the posts 600mm in the ground and all the walls and roofs clad before concreting is done and then 50-100mm of the sheets is submerged into the concrete to create a fully water tight seal. its how we have always made our sheds.

@@SynoDesign back in 1990, two of us got $360 between us to erect one that size and we had to dig the holes and supply the concrete. How times have changed.

@@lkytdsvc I subbied to Highline in the late 90's, me and my mate would knock out a 6x6 (20x20) in 5 hours and we had to dig the footings. It was worth about $700.

That was excellent. We had a Stramit shed installed last year, about same price similar size. It’s great, even the installers of my shed had issues, wrong fittings etc. Budget comes into it, insulation, so glad we had that done on install. You’ll be wishing you had installed while you were assembling, not my shed it’s yours. Good work, I hope this will assist others.

No idea the brand anymore but the installers just swap the wrong fittings between shed installs. After slab and shed install isn't that bad if you have something else to do - who doesn't. I'm assuming after you have done a few you would get the hang of it. I suspect there is probably some variance on the cost + install combination across suppliers which may be an indication of quality somewhere....

Well done it looks really good. I have to say that I was pricing up a shed last year and Stratco were not that cheap compared to some other suppliers. Guess it pays to shop around.

You need to get a couple rolls of that silver insulation stuff from Bunnings and install it to the ceiling. It makes a massive difference and it's fairly cheap

Tip with the roller doors. Drill a hole through the shaft so you can use a large screw driver to tension it(safer than pipe wrench), that way you have a free hand to tighten the clamp. I've done one before this way using cordless impact gun.

That’s definitely a good tip. Someone said they put some rod through it also. I don’t know why they can’t put flat bits in it for your wrench. The things are very dangerous. Cheers for the input James

i just had 4 high bay LED UFO lights installed in my shed and it lights up all areas and at night its as bright as you ever want and they have a switch that you can dim them down if too bright too. My shed is a 10m x 15m x 4m high by they way. A shed of your size would only require 2 maybe 3 in center of roof only and will be bright as anything.

I used to work for a shed company based on the Gold Coast. I was one of their top sales people. Once they had your $ the customer service was dribble. Three examples, one poor bugger bought a very large shed from me, it was missing parts and he wanted to have his daughters wedding in it, did they step up to get the missing parts there, no way, months later still not solved. Another guy was in armed forces and had a 4 week window to get his shed built in an isolated area, shed was delivered but missing brackets, easy solve you would have thought? just put the missing brackets in two or three overnight bags and send them. But no, the company insisted on delivering the missing parts on the next truck/delivery run - so about 6 weeks later.... Another customer bought large shed with remotes/auto lift to the garage doors. The size of the doors required the next step up in electric motors, but the company just supplied the minimum elec motor that didnt quite have enough grunt to lift the doors properly. Did they replace the elec motors with ones that would make the customer happy? no way. In each case above the customers were pleading with me to get the company to do the right thing every customer was pissed and suffered from their interaction with the company. Lets not forget that they also had at least two arena's that collapsed/fell over. Thats just the tip of the iceberg.... W I D E S P A N is one to be very wary off.

I just bought one of there sheds and it has two roller doors one at the front and one for the rear. But they only supplied me with one set of brackets for the roller doors. I'm going to let them know about it next week. But after reading this I don't like my chances on them coughing up the missing brackets.

@@davesparkz Sorry to hear that, seems like they still havent improved after all these years, the only thing I can suggest is to keep pushing it, ring them every day, dont be put of by excuses as this is an easy fix ie pin point what parts are missing, pack said parts into a box and put on overnight delivery, it is really that simple but they will come up with every excuse in the book. You may fluke it and get your missing brackets in quick time..... good luck.

Paint the floor before you put anything in it. It will be the easiest painting job you ever do and gives a good result as concrete unpainted or sealed will keep dusting forever.

Job's a goodun...and it's the little things that make a good shed a great one...attention to detail (like stringing the fixings etc etc) add the "give a sh*t" element...which many installers don't...just get in n out...that make the difference...excellent work...I'd have you build one for me 😁😁😁😁

You did a great job. I recently built a 6 by 3 stratco shed. I built it watching youtube videos, and made mistakes along the way. If I had to build it again, I would do it differently. Learnt along the way. My wife helped me too! That roller door was a pain. It needs to be tight! It let go night and set off the dogs! I am not a builder! They wanted $4500 for the slab and install. I got the slab done prior for $2500. Cost $5800 for the shed.

Mine was similar, 5x6x2.4 high. Great quality with a clean internal roof, no gables. Had it installed. I think with the concrete and installation was around 13k.

It is not just Stratco that are bad instructions. I put up a shed 10 years ago and it was a major issue. I had a mate with the same brand I took a heap of photos which made it easier. I think it is to get them to erect, but half the fun of putting up a shed is doing it yourself, if you have capability. If you are no good at building things, it is not worth the pressure to put yourself through it.

Good info there mate. I wonder if using or hiring a scissor lift would have sped things up for you, also a more stable work platform. Any blome that builds their own shed will be pleased no matter how it went up. Cheers🇦🇺

Good job doing it yourself mate, not sure if it’s just because of different state but that was quite expensive for the shed compared to prices here in WA, I’ve got a 9x6 shed slab was 3k, shed was 11k, install was 2k. Might be a little late now but I recommend chucking a electric motor on your door specifically if haven’t got a PA door definitely makes life easy just pressing the button.

Sounds like the prices vary. Could be the timing with concrete as it’s Inflated a lot at the moment with the amount of work. 2k is a good price for the install. I’m currently looking at a motor for the doors. Might be worth it👌

MANY MANY THANKS for your video clip, I need a small (maybe 2M by 2M by 1.9M) shed on a wooden frame in my back yard and I've looked at Stratco Sheds last Thursday. They do look good in the showroom but as I'm not a builder (retired accountant and a little elderly) IF I get the Stratco shed (around $600-00 + $400-00 to install) I'll be doing it their way, unless I can source a much cheaper process, eg. something I can lift into place, hammer and/or screw into place. You've given me an insight into what to look for so MANY thanks again, take care and all the best with the rest on the renovations you're doing.

I looked at all different hex led systems for my shed and in the end settled on linkable 1200mm led battens instead. I made a basic aluminium frame that is suspended from the roof and the lighting battens mount to that with clips. Came up with my own design of triangles to fit the space I had and it's honestly almost too bright with 27 1200mm battens.

I don’t usually comment, but really good video. We are building our 6th shed as we do the concrete and earthworks as well. At the moment we are building an 8 x 4 Stratford shed with sliding door and the instructions are pretty pour tbh. For your 2nd shed you have done a mint job.

I have a Stratco shed it's nearly 8 years old. 4mx8m 3.8m high. Cost me $3600 delivered. Your right about the instructions being a little on the lacking side. My dad's mate is a builder and between him / having all my family and mates over we got it done ourselves. A mini scaffold on wheels was a game changer. My only complaint was roof sheet thickness wasnt the best and had to make extra sure we didn't damage the sheets. We also used builders blanket under the roof sheets and it is amazing for stopping heat inside. For lighting i originally used fluros but advancements in leds make them obsolete. The led high bay lights are the way to go and are sub $300ea making them very affordable.

I feel your pain. I'm trying to get a large shed built too and it looks like I may have to construct the shed kit myself as the quotes I've been getting are ridiculous. Mine is going to be 15m x 9mm x 3.6M wall height, so no for the faint hearted. I purchased my kit from a shed supplier and it's top notch quality. Bluescope steel everything. No Chinese crap for me. The instruction PDFs are pretty easy to follow to, which is a big plus. Just need helpers lol... Wish me luck with that ! You did a great job installing the shed mate. Your wife is a trooper too. Well done. Just on the roller door. I did exactly what you did a while back and then realised you have to pretension the roller door before cutting it open. Keep it strapped or wrapped, lift into position, pre tension by rolling the drum FORWARD by approx 1.5 to 2 turns, then have someone tighten the shackle nuts. Once they're all tighten, then you can release the strap or cut the plastic wrap and it will remain in position and will have just enough tension for it to open and stay up and only slight tension when bringing it down. Also, how did Council let you build so close to the boundary ? Are you in Sydney ? BTW, The music is way too loud man. Is there a way you can lower the volume so it doesn't over power the video and prevent us from having to raise and lower the volume ?

Shed come up mint screw line nice bro I’m roofer for vic just did my mates shed the gap around the bottom of your shed get a flashing folded 100x30 with 10mm break on the 30mm side sika flex to slap concrete screws every 500 and get what’s Called foam infills strips stick them between flashing and wall sheets then it will be waterproof dust and bug proof and also down lights in corrugated sheets look really neat

Top stuff. Yes, your wife did very well helping you! Yeah, method in the madness with limited instruction details to keep the installers busy, plus stractco keeping their slice of the pie for the extra $ in the value adding installation process 😉 I wondered if a single PA door on the side would be a good addition here rather than needing to use the rollers door everytime to access? Quick and easy to get in and out particularly if pissing down. Those large carpet tiles at Bunnings might be an idea for the floor, takes the echo out, warmer in winter, easy to swap out if damaged...just an idea, but I'm sure your all over it by now. Well done and keen to see the big video on everything thing out you've achieved there 👌

@@AddictedtoTools I helped a mate with a man cave and he put vinyl planks with insulation under it on his concrete slab and that made a massive difference to the chill in winter . Also used Foil board to line ceiling fwiw

@@AddictedtoTools Don't install a P.A. door. Put garage door openers instead. That way you will have more storage space where the P.A. door would have otherwise eaten into. I ordered a P.A. door with my shed kit and am tossing up whether I'll even use it. I'll wait and see when my shed is done and figure it into a dead zone perhaps.

@@AddictedtoTools Don't forget, should you fit motors, you'll need a system to open the doors when the power goes out ! I've got emergency release on the inside of my garage...but obviously you'll need a PA for that to be any use !! There's battery back up and emergency release from outside options as well but both seem a pain. We had a bush fire pretty close and power went out, neighbors brick garage had no PA or window..and no external release either, (doh !!) Both cars locked in, luckily we didn't have to evacuate. I'd definitely consider a PA, opening outward you're only loosing the space of one shelve rack.

Good work mate, I’ll be building my skillion next month, slab goes down this week. Mine is a best shed, they have a video but its for a gable type shed like yours not a Skillion, so, my intent is to video the whole build and shove it on you tube. Good call with the ladders too. I’ll be getting another. Can never have enough ladders. Rest of the tools and shit i am good.

that brushed finish on the slab is a pain. I got talked into it years ago for my shed and foolishly approved it on the day of the pour, despite having specified a smooth trowelled finished. It sucks, traps all the dust and sand and dreck and very hard to sweep clean. Pretty well have to vacuum it to get it all out. And I swept enough workshop floors during my apprenticeship to know what makes a good floor.

Dam these sheds gone up , got my 6x6 back in the day for 6 grand , built it myself :) You done great mate , looks amazing well done :)

Great Video, i need this for my build :) Avoid this company like the plague! Products dumped on the Nature Strip 5 days later after driving 4 hours to be on site, missing Parts took upto 4 months to recieve, no Instructions or commmunication, the list goes on!

After watching this im really glad my house come with a 6x6 shed, although it does face the wrong way and my patrol is too tall for the roller door, lol

I bought a Titan 7m x 4m framed shed with two 3m high roller doors, pitch roof trusses, a sliding glass door, roof insulation, wirly bird and pest barrier for $15k fully installed on an engineered slab incl council certification. Then I insulated the frame and lined with fire check plaster. I had the floor epoxied and the power, lighting and plumbing installed prior to lining the walls. Happy I got them to install because they supplied the wrong components 3 times and it was their problem to get it sorted. Its a good shed and would go the turn key option again.

I instal glass pool fences mate that gap on the corner is pretty big, I’d be checking all my spigots are straight and square, and all the gaps between panels are the same

I spent $11k having my stratco shed built. 15 x 9 x 5. Seems like a lot. But looking back it was worth it. The Stratco shed is brilliant. All Aussie built.

Great job Matt! I used to contract for most shed companies and I found Ranbuild to be the best and for the price and quality of materials used you can’t beat it. Maybe something to think of on the next one in the late future aha. They also come with instructions online. 2 guys 6x6 shed in a day is pretty standard if you know what you’re doing. But top effort mate should be proud💪🏻 Can’t wait for the fitout!

Agree. If you've got a bit of experience and you're familiar with this brand you can generally knock them up in a day with a couple of blokes.

If it is what you do day in, day out for your work, a couple of you would knock it out in a full day. It makes you wonder how much $$$ Stratcos cut for the $4K assembly is. The installers wouldn't be getting all of that, otherwise, I'm in the wrong industry.

@@colincutler194 It depends on what they cover. For me Two good tradies can cost you up to $1800 along with a labourer which is another $300. Then there's clean up aswell and that's another $200. Add in GST too and that's what I'd charge to build this one. How they get $4k especially when they're experienced and no doubt will put this together in no time is beyond me. As a tradie, I don't charge an hourly rate. I charge based on the difficulty of the job. Experience matters but there's also ripping people off and I just don't see $4k worth of work there.

@Toby Horne I might check out Ranbuild, as I am looking to build one like this one or a 6 x 9mtr. What 3 companies would you recommend getting a quote from for supply? Going by your background. How long ago were you contracting for shed companies if you don't mind me asking?

@@colincutler194 Did not specifically work for a shed company but have worked with people who did. Originally was there as a second person and then had referrals from.those jobs. I've done 8 on my own to date and all have been Stratco. I find the quality is ok but the assembly information they provide is general at best. Unless you're handy on the tools, I wouldn't attempt building one. I couldn't really recommend any others as I've only dealt with Stratco sheds.

Very neat and accurate job. At the same time you thought of many things in advance. Shed built well. well done!

Very informative. Good job. A few negative comments from people who didn't read it was an entertainment video. I recently built a 10 m2 garden shed using 4 off 3.2 x 2.1 fence panels plus a few extra bits from Oxworks. See my you tube. Total shed cost including DIY mix onsite concrete $1400.00 Most expensive cost was $270 for the flashing from Stratco. Later!! found a sheetmetal guy advertises $10 lin metre. Better shed than Stratco for $4669. I am now pricing a DIY 9x8M x3M gable shed w2 roller doors.

Great job in explaining this as I agree with the instructions provided. Sorry to say that the ‘extra’ roof purlin is for the bottom of the wall. The sheeting is not supported at the bottom.

Cheers Tristan. I was actually wondering that. Is it the top or the bottom purling that isn’t meant to be there? As I felt both were needed for the sheets? I was planning on trying to buy some extras to throw onto the bottom of the wall. The main uprights didn’t have any holes on the bottom which confused me.

The bottom one that is just inboard of the top of the column.

I had trouble just putting up my metal storage shed alone. It would of been a seamless task had the pre drilled holes lined up with other parts and the instructions more clearer in certain areas. The dramas unfolded with the roof being pre drilled and not lining up so coming up with a solution to make it water tight. The shed is up and no leaks from roof yet, but leaks underneath is another thing I'm dealing with now.

This was an exact copy of my shed build. Even including the roller door unfolding. Next time use a racket strap around the roller door to stop it unrolling. Strangely, my end wall sheets were all precut with the taper, whereas yours were not

Like the dobies.. good work on the slab. These things are expensive these days, you don't get much shed for $19-20k anymore...

One thing. I would have left some room to access the space between shed and side fence. Not concreting this strip of ground will result in weeds that will be difficult manage, not to mention a convenient refuge for vermin. And pisspoor effort on Stratco's part not supplying proper plans with their product. Will remember that.

Good build, my suggestion would to have installed roof insulation before installing the roof. I am in Melbourne and it makes a big difference.

Nice work! I am looking to put pretty much this same dimension shed up in my backyard in the near future, so appreciate you showing what you would have done differently with your assembly process, etc. At the beginning, was that piping in your slab for your power & lighting? Running from your meter box?

Hey Colin. Yeah that was water power and data. I totally forgot to run through that as it was in a terrible spot. It should have been 100mm over. I’ll be digging it up and rerouting it. I’ll most likely show the mistake and how I fix it in another video. The conduits just go to the side of the house for now.

But going by how much they cost these days, I may go with the 6 x 6 like what you have here...I'll see. I'll have to visit a couple of places for some quotes very soon to get the permits process happening... Water?! Are you going to put a sink in there?

I think you did a great job putting it together but you really should of done your research a bit better. I'm in QLD, got a 7m x 6m ranbuild shed put in, 7k for the kit, 4k for the slab, 1.5k for install, was through a ranbuild certified dealer, included all council approvals, etc and seems to be much better quality and structurally sound than the stratco.

Going with Stratco was your first mistake. I have a 6.2x5.6m shed fron a local supplier and Stratco was more than 50% more expensive for the same thing. I paid $1300 for install - single contractor took 2.5 days to do it. Slab was about $1800.

I think it is like anything. If you are doing it all day long things are easy. But if you're doing a one off, or seldom doing something, it is inherently more complicated than it should be. You need to factor this in from the beginning to see if you are up to the job. I am contemplating building myself a block shed at the moment. Just working out the logistics of it.

I did a owner built core filled shed on sloping ground 8x8metres with a timber trussed 6degree gable roof. This has a 4.2metre ceiling an rendered inside an out. I did all footings an prep for slab. Hired a concreter for the slab an render for the walls. The brickie crew took 2 days an core filled in 2 stages. This cost about $50,000. The height was for a two post hoist. This was built in January 2020 at beginning of covid so pricing was maybe 30% cheaper than today. The thermal quality is far superior to a metal shed.

@@MegaPixie666 did you do your own block work, or did you have a contractor lay those for you? I have been looking at the options. I am considering building something around 8.8m x 8m (Ipswich Council will allow up to 9m on a side boundary). Same situation slightly sloping, so I am going to need to do some ground work to correct, or use a lot more concrete. Can you provide me with a rough break down of your costs to see if I am in the ball park?

Just a heads up mate your wall screws are in the wrong side of the pan your laps might rattle in high winds.

Being someone who is been involved in the designing and sales of wooden pole sheds for the past 6 years here in nz. 4k to put one is pretty cheap. Normally for a pole shed including a concrete slab you would double it. This is due to the labour and hire equipment required. Instructions wise yeah they missed a bet there. I guess it depends on if they where instructions or full detailed plans. I use to supply full detailed plans from the architect as this supplied the footing details etc...

I feel your pain about getting shed permits too. Had to get confirmation draftsman that we would be at least 1mm off the storm water easement when we already had drawings showing that. Then kept saying that's the last bit of info they need, only to come back 2 weeks later saying they needed some other bullshit document from our shed supplier that the shed wouldn't impact the easement either among other mundane requirements. 🙄

I had a shed the exact same size put up about 3 years ago.. was similar in cost and is great structurally, they offered a couple of quotes between $1500-$2000 for erection. It was a no brained for me and the professionals got it up within 5 hours with 4 guys working on it..

It's really poor not to have concise instructions in this day and age. Thanks for the vid, much appreciated. Bit of long term advice from someone who is faced with the problem now...keep an eye on the fence behind the shed. You'll have the devil's job to replace those cross beams in the long term if they rot. I'm doing exactly that this weekend, and I'm going to be balancing on a half metre of space dangling over a creek repairing the fence behind my shed. I don't recall any lessons about hanging like a gibbon back in DIY school :(

All the sheds that I have put up were erected before the slab was laid. The four corners were concreted in nearly 750mm into to the ground. Note the gap slab to the sheeting !

That’s actually not a bad idea. I was just running cat6. I haven’t done fibre in years. Would be an awesome excuse to do some more fibre works for something different

Couple of windows would have been nice , I would have also put sarking under the roof sheets just incase you want to line and insulate it later . Great job

Should have Aircell'd the wall and roof would made things a lot easier later on once you line the inside. But all in all you did a great job.

@@AddictedtoTools You will need it mate, otherwise it will be an oven in there in summer and in winter you'll have condensation issues. I highly recommend anticon by Bradford. If it means peeling back the roof sheets to install it, it would be well worth it. You don't have a huge shed and so it shouldn't take too long to do. Remove you gable fascias, and do a panel at a time.

@@tonymontana897 I just used sisalation under the roof of my 6x9 erected in 04 and there has never been any issues with condensation it does get hot in summer but we only get a few extreme days here anyway.

Wow !, in Perth, we have to be a meter away from the fence, such a waste of space. You guys are lucky.

With my local council regs the structure whatever you build must be at least 1m from the fence line. It can't be hard up against the fence. Some places require council approval before building but they only way you'd get into trouble for not having council approval is if neighbours complain to the local council. No council is going to come and survey every single type of building in their council area

I think you find the extra purlin you put in the roof, should have been at the bottom of the wall iron!

I bought a shed kit from best sheds 7x7 3m high been quoted 9k to have it put up because apparently they need to use a scissor lift the kit cost me 7.3k with roof insulation

I wonder what the cost comparison for sips vs shed after doing insulation and the time it takes to make shed then insulate
